Not for children or fictitious adults, this is deep.
Hello, I really agree with you. Though I watch slow, just passed episode 4 now.

Also, I am glad that your comment is on top so it is easy for me to dismiss the immature comments below. Thanks.

I have not watched the mc in any drama before but so far I am awed at his performance here. I relate so much with his internal dialogue (of wanting to belong, and do well in team work but also feeling isolated). I also cracked up many times with the antics of the Section 3 boss who is again, very relatable... a bit gruff on the outside but he only wants the best for his team especially the juniors.

I binge watched this last night. I appreciate the music, too (techno/electro). Fun and enjoyable, no need to think too deep. It was exactly what I needed to kill some time.

All I see in the comments is virtue signaling. Watch more variety to expand your world view. If your don't like what you see, just stop. Ig you had to pontificate and broadcast your intolerance. LOL.

Because this drama has officially ended I will resume binge watching now (from episode 19).

I do not mind getting spoilers but that's me. However some in the comment forget to hide their spoilers. Please do remember for the sake of others, thank you!

Person Xiao Zhan
Just when I think Xiao Zhan can't get more handsome, he does. :)
At the rate he is going up and glowing up, we are all going blind soon. Way too bright, LOL. Visual treat, visual feast. Really can not complain.

I want a remake of this but instead the plot focuses on SY, SC and PR starting their own company while SY’s…
May I add a house (or maybe workplace) CAT in the cast, too? :)

I cracked up when that came up in one of the recent episodes. Lol.

That leopard fluffy coat is THE girlfriend jacket. The cream beanie is THE girlfriend hat.

Gotta love a confident man who is rocking the 'fit. The fireworks scene is cute!
Stay warm, SY!

I beg to differ. The writer actually does a good job in showing how the two sisters have two separate lives and…
I agree with your insights here.

I have a somewhat fraught rel with my sister. I try to connect with her in many ways but...not easy. I will never stop trying as long as we both live. Let's just hope I am self aware enough (unlike JS) to never push her in a dir she's not willing to take (no, never ever set her up with anyone), I already know she's unwilling to be my work-out buddy despite repeated attempts ha ha, but I did try watching Asian dramas all because of her and share her interests.

I know 2 people like Uncle Fang--as you described, there are those who persist in staying around people who do not genuinely care about you. That's sad but yes, very realistic.

Title Sunshine by My Side Spoiler
We see what we want to see. This caught my eye in today's episode:

I don't skip any scenes so I gasped when I noticed that Uncle Fang Mu tinkered with JB's broken but super cool Diatone vertical turn-table (record player)/ stereo system (it had a casette player too, right below it!) and got it working again.

She said to leave it be but he just had to show her how competent he is no, LOL. Not easy to fix irl but I'll suspend my disbelief for now.

He's a musician and supposed to be a true stereophile, so okay, I'll give him that. I know he's not a popular character but his screen time with the Diatone is worth it for me, I'm willing to take him far away from the show, and we could sit in a corner to geek out on music and sound systems lol.

I'm guessing few other Gen X stereophiles took notice of this, too. Kinda hard to miss, that's a precious equipment right there. Ha ha!

Ok so third couple and uncle with no game just bore me to tears. I understand there’s a reason for the TFL to…
I agree here, the Moses trifecta is shaping to be a better team versus the older, more established three.

Glad to see that Pan Rou's character is also growing. Her hair style change signaled a bit of maturity at work. I love PR and SC's teamwork to get that Wang on tape. I am soft for Song Chan, he's a good buddy and I really don't see a love triangle here unlike the strange dynamic of the middle-aged trio of JB, XYM and LSS.

I was trying to be really charitable with the storyline and (still) don't skip but admit that the other three: uncle FM, nephew HJJ and sister JS are superfluous at this point. I still wait for JS to reveal a bit more about her family background/sister dynamic with JB so here's hoping.

JB is so calm and unperturbed. Very grounded. I want to know more about how she has it in her to have that equanimity and ability to resist SY, LOL. SY's family is the best trio for me, of course. He is who he is for a great part because family influence.

Papa Sheng: if I haven't achieved anything great how come a pretty girl like luo meijuan fell for me. Mama Sheng:…
They are both great. Both of them combined, made the greatest: Sheng Yang! He is their progeny. I love them both too especially mama actor, Wang Lin.

And her face when she realised he was the guy she had stood up!
I watched ep 1 and 2 with my 7yo nephew, so it was a bonding experience. He's a much bigger fan than I am. His life goal thus far being to finish watching all 1,071 animated episodes, ha ha. He loves MDL (Monkey D. Luffy, mind you, NOT this site lol) so much. I will watch two more episodes with him when he visits me this weekend. I am aware that the bar is set very high for the live action, but I like what I like and so far I enjoyed both eps. 6 more to go for me.

---

SBMS is also a delight to watch. I am fortunate because of the timing, when SBMS started to air I was still on vacation, too and rn workload is still light. I hope the series finishes before it gets heavy again.

I'm only really hanging out in XZ's drama pages. After this, it'll be a while before we see another XZ character. See you around! :)

According to the director's interview, it was his idea and he knows ppl doesn't like it 😅
Enigma from several posts above shared this link:

https://bunnylovereader.com/2023/09/08/sunshine-by-my-side-behind-the-scenes-a-story-of-starting-over/

Quote from Li Xiao, scriptwriter:

“I also noticed that the audience seems not to like the storyline of Jian Shuang and Hao Junjie. The reason is that this particular storyline doesn’t seem to stem from the main plot, but rather looks like it was written independently. However, as you go further into the story, it will eventually tie back into the main narrative, explaining why Jian Shuang and Jian Bing have such a relationship and also shedding light on Jian Bing’s original family.”

We already know SY's family dynamics but not JB's.

I'm curious to find out more about the Jians, I guess we will know soon enough.

Wondering same thing. But I'll go with genuinely liking this person and wanting to be friends with them.
They say it's harder to make (new) friends as you get older.

LMJ has colleagues and friends at work, yes, but I agree that she could just genuinely like JB and want to be friends with her. JB is not in her radar as a potential romantic interest for her son.

But 36yoJB- early 50s LMJ they're both classified as "middle aged" in many parts of the world so the wish to bond in sisterhood makes sense to me at least.

Mom is awesome and made me tear up; love their relationship! Be back later to finish commenting. Seriously can…
I love her. The character Luo Meijuan, and the actor Wang Lin (I found out today that we are the same age in rl lol).

LMJ is the devoted mother and the querulous wife but in the latest scene at the resto with JB we see how she also wants to be *her own person*, daring to reach out and befriend someone for her own self despite being "too old".

I remember this song titled "Know who you are at every age" orig by a Scottish band. Faye Wong did a wonderful cover of it in the 90s. Young or old, having a good grip on oneself is key, as well as how we navigate our meaningful relationships with others (at work or home).

From the linked article, this stands out to me:

"At completely different stages in their lives, they both offered some help to each other."

If we could look past our differences (age, status, etc) and find common ground, we can move forward together. I can read from the comments here that the ice hockey couple is not popular but tune in to see what bits JB's sister, Jian Shuang would reveal about their own family dynamics.

Article quote: "The relationship between Jian Shuang and Hao Junjie is not solely romantic; it also encompasses discussions on young people’s academics, hobbies, and so on."

School just started so younger watchers who can relate to their uni experiences, their goals and aspirations might be few. I work with a lot of young people in uni so I get this tho there is no ice hockey team in ours or any mixed gender teams for that matter. I do not know the actors here and I don't know what's going on behind the scenes with casting etc. I am just interested in SBMS's story and characters. Thanks to your link, I know more now about the process of scriptwriting, filming and production work, too.

More than halfway through! I eagerly rush home each day to catch the latest episodes.

Happy watching! :)

Speaking of moving together, the marathon analogy intrigues me since I run races, too. It's about preparation, strength, endurance and constant risk to injuries. If JB has the marathon metaphor in mind, I figured she's been through tough times as well tho we (still) know very little about them.

I don't usually fast forward scenes in the shows I watch, but I have been skipping the ice hockey scenes. They…
I actually find their back story interesting. Hockey sister was talking about JB's trust issues, leading to their very independent nature.

They could be half-siblings (only my speculation, hence the age gap) but I don't remember hearing much detail about their parents, so it's just a guess. If they shared the same parents it could mean they stayed long enough to conceive both children.

We just know SY's family dynamics and not JB's.

Sister is a college sophomore so 20-21 yo perhaps?
