I think the show is trying to present all types and scenarios: the domestic type (cooking), crafty activities…
My last line (in the above) should have read female spaces, instead.
Identity politics plays out differently in Asia vs the West. I am not in China so I am not well informed about the state of gender activism therein, but where I'm from (SEAsian country), biological males have zero interest in winning women's medals.
I'm no shirt snob. LOLShi Ying could go all shirtless and I'd still watch this show. Ha ha!
Right! Thank you! I reviewed ep1, too and that's where colleague and friend Song did say he gets paid 14k. :) I assume they were paid the same amt then.

Exactly! 45 wardrobe changes for an S+ Xianxia.
This is an urban drama, SY is obviously not affluent. He just got promoted for crying out loud. But yes, those who are sick of the tshirt just imagine him topless. And, sans towel too.
Case closed. Ha ha.
(I did a quick search and found out that the monthly min wage in Chonqing is 2,00-2,100RMB and iirc, SY makes 6K?)
I’m just the opposite. SY’s friend and that girl are too antagonistic towards each other. I get weary of their…
I agree here.
As a female athlete, none of my family members were interested in watching any of my games lol. Seeing JB drop unannounced in practice must have been a good surprise to her sister. Such a good sister, I love JB even more after seeing her pull off what she did with that uncle lol.
This may be an unpopular opinion but I like the side-story here, especially since the male hockey player is supportive of the lone female in the ice rink. JB's sister is relatable to me. :)
I've got zero patience for that hockey couple. even the ex husband's storyline is more watchable than those two.I…
I think the show is trying to present all types and scenarios: the domestic type (cooking), crafty activities (SY's dad repurposing and upcycling stuff), visual art and advertising (workplaces of SY and JB) and musical talents (nephew and uncle).
Irl I am also sporty so I appreciate seeing an attempt here to showcase how that plays out in university sports, in mixed genders, too. I think it's progressive, and I hope it gets people thinking about the value of women spaces as athletes.
First few episodes are quite slow and belabored. A lot of setup to establish the characters and their situations/lifestyles.…
When you have easy access to alcohol, and you are very uh "spirited" it becomes a way to get by after a long hard day at work ... also when you are dreading going home. So, that'll be me in my 30s, ngl I could totally relate lol.
"I drink and I know things..." Tyrion said. Cheers to his wit.
(It was bad behavior indeed, have been sober for years now though, these days I'd like to believe that I am also more humble)
did you read this article bro?xiao zhan's behavior is more like that of the old seniors in the past. he cares…
Hello. I understand what you mean. I want to see more of the main character's development, too.
But I see the pov as a sporty person, I can relate to JB's sister, too. Didn't China just host the Winter Games? XZ in ice hockey uniform immediately came to mind.
My take here is that even in 2023 we like to think society has opened up more spaces for women and though it has indeed gotten a bit better, there's still a long way to go (I live in SE Asia btw so tho not China, there are many similarities).
So from SY's mom (I love the actor here, she's so good!) as an underappreciated parent and spouse, to JB's precarious position as a divorced senior partner at work, and then to the Gen Z hockey player: the message to me is consistent at least.
For the males, there's SY's dad and the ex of JB who need more empathy in understanding their spouses. We already know that SY gets it: he is good with broken pipes (from dad) and a very capable cook (from mom). Gen Z ice hockey player might show promise, too for the younger viewers.

I'm hazarding a guess here, but could it be that they are promoting the sport instead (ice hokey) as XZ did before? That JB's sister had the same difficulty as a young female excelling in a male-dominated sport?
So no matter what age, the struggle is real for the sisters. That's just my interpretation anyway.
by the way wtf is this rating. Mdlers rate the cringiest dramas so high but finally we get a get a good one and…
Agreed. During day 1 of airing, SBMS made it to the top 5 Chinese airing shows on the homepage. Since yesterday, it's not there anymore. MDL is so trustworthy... NOT! Lol.
They need to wash his character in order to pair him up later. They started with him being a serial cheater so…
I agree with you. The world is small and in specialized fields like this (advertising here but applies to most anything), you will keep swimming in the same pond.
Breaking up is also a life skill. We cannot just keep ghosting exes especially if we share important things or people together. I love the scene where the spouses met with the entire staff and looking at their faces they looked terrified knowing that mum and dad (of the company) were breaking up. There's that reason office romances are forbidden in some workplaces. When the personal spills over to the professional, there's lots of "drama." lol Picking sides is never fun and staying "neutral" could be even worse (I speak from personal experience here, les sighs!)
Mackenyu is easy on the eyes of course and Oda was hands-on in the live adapt process. The pilot is very good.
But yes, you certainly have lots of catching up to do with Seng Yang in SBMS. Happy watching!

Ergo, back to the same stained old shirt then.

It's like a metaphor for his struggles at work and at home, poor SY.
Seriously, as a new college grad embarking on my first ever job, I was the same. The shirt does NOT make the man, or the woman for that matter.

Stranger things happen in real life. :-|

Not merely because he WANTS HER for she is beautiful or hot but because she is also very capable, strong and worthy of emulation.
