Was this postponed to 2023 perhaps? Anyone knows? Disney+ confirmed Connect for December, but no news on this one despite the fact that it's been a month at least since it finished filming.

Did people expect the women is this to be that ultra competent badass genius FL trope? Not to knock that, I like…
I honestly hate that trope, I don't like characters who don't have flaws because they're usually flat, boring and unrealistic. I'm glad these women are actually like real people.

They simply couldn't gather the same amount of money in a short time to send their sister abroad (the trip was going to happen soon). It was a lot of money, the trip was more expensive than two iPhones. It's not a sum that you can find in no time, unless you're rich of course.

They said in the beginning that they are not as poor as they used to be when they were children, they are working adults now, but they still have some debts to pay. As for the iPhone, I know a lot of people that are struggling with money but they still won't buy cheap phones for their own reasons, be it that phones are used as a status symbol in our society or that they simply don't trust cheaper ones to work as well as the more expensive ones, usually they buy a slightly older model, or a second hand one, or they buy it in instalments.

The music is really damn good 🔥🔥🔥
For real, the song used at the end reminded me of a song used in The Handmaiden (I think it's called "My Tamako, My Sokee" ). I also loved the song used while In Joo was making her escape, so quirky and fitting for that scene.

Yes, I can't say I have much love for the third sister right now. I think she's going to really screw up before she finds her way back home. But she's just 18, small girl with big dreams, it's easy to understand why she's behaving like this.

Yep, honestly people have a twisted idea on what being poor in this age actually means. And that there are also different ways of being poor. Some people don't really have anything and are homeless, while others live in super small and cheap rented houses because they can't even afford to buy one, but at least they have a roof on their head, and other people actually live in decent places, but they struggle to make ends meet because life is just so expensive, so they have to make some sacrifices in their lives.

Okay so apparently everybody is disliking all the sisters for different reasons so here is my take on how all…
To be honest I like them all. I think they are just honest people trying to survive in a world that is far more cunning than they are, at least in the current situation. I don't think their behavior is unrealistic, quite the contrary in fact.

If I was In Joo, especially with everything she went through, I also wouldn't know what to do with the money and panic. She doesn't really have anyone she can rely on, so she has to trust the only people who have shown kindness toward her.

In Hye is a young girl who doesn't want to be a burden for her family and who wants to fulfill her dreams, she seems so lost at times because she hates the life she has.

In Kyung has grown up in an unhealthy environment where she was accused of being a thief just for the fact that she was poor so she feels like she has to prove that she's living an honest life even if she's not rich. I understand why she confronted In Joo like that, she was also scared that something could have happened to her because of the money and tried to convince her to not use before it was too late

I mean, it's not really easy to make great decisions when you're under so much stress and you never had anyone to teach you how to behave in the world.

I'm puzzled by some of the complaints for the third episode. I don't understand why people think that being poor makes you smart. Is it because of the movies? Being poor doesn't do anything for you. When they're poor most people simply start working until their backs break to make a living or they become stingy with their moneys so they can put some aside for the emergencies. The idea that being poor somehow makes you street smart, cunning and scheming is beyond ludicrous. This is simply not how real life works.

This is really insightful, I like this kind of comments. If I can add my two cents in the conversation I have some thoughts about what you said:

1. I think that while there are many dramas that are getting closer to the western taste, especially among the ones produced by streaming platforms such as Netflix, the dramas produced by cable TV like tvn, jtbc, kbs, sbs etc are still more like the "typical" (for a lack of a better term) kdrama, so I don't feel like there is any risk that westernized kdramas are going to take over the market. For example, there are still, thankfully, many melodramas, healing dramas, slice of life dramas and romcoms that aren't genres that we see often in America and Europe.

2. Kmovies are usually very different from kdramas. To be honest it seems to me that, more than getting closer to western TV, kdramas are actually getting closer to Kmovies by making grittier stories or in any case stories that are less affected by censorship etc. I don't think they're losing the Korean touch, but rather they are broadening their contents. In fact we're getting a lot of movie actors working in the kdrama industry too and even directors and writers.

3. While it's true that this type of stories have been done a countless times and are really familiar for the western audience, at the same time the same can be said about other kdramas, no matter the genre. For example the romcom genre has tried basically every trope at this point and even among thrillers, older and newest, we still get a lot of stories about corruption in the police and the David Vs Goliath kind of stories.

story discussion- join in!Did you guys think they were that poor, I felt their 'we are so poor' talk was a lil…
Didn't they say at the beginning of the first episode that they aren't as poor as they used to be when they were kids and they had to brush their teeth with salt and use boiled egg as a birthday cake? Now they're still poor, but it's not as bad as it used to be so they want their little sister to have a decent life that they couldn't have, especially since she seems to be a talented painter and they don't want her talent to go to waste. Also, their mother doesn't act like a mother and they don't have a father, so they probably feel like they need to play the role of the parents for her because they know how awful it is to grow up without parents. At least that's how I see it.

As for In Joo, maybe she overreacted but she didn't want a rich woman to look down on her sister and treat her like a beggar who needs money, in her eyes that was more humiliating. I personally think the sister are complex characters, so they won't be always right and logical, and we need to accept this

i havent watch this yet but why is the rating so bad?
Because it ended while leaving most plotlines open for a second season. It also had serious pacing issues and wasn't able to find its own style, like the tone of the drama was kinda all over the place.

Is it slow paced?
First episode was quite slow paced, like I think it took them 20 minutes to get to Suriname where the plot actually starts, but it seems to be the kind of slow that is necessary for this type of story to introduce all the characters properly. Anyway it picks up a lot in the second half of the episode imo.

First episode was actually good, although a bit slow. It has already shown a much more solid script and editing than Money Heist Korea and A Model Family. Hope it doesn't go downhill.
