If we're talking about scariness, compared to Hereditary (which gave me nightmares for weeks) it's probably a 7 imo. I don't know if you've watched it, but it's closer to The Wailing: there is a dark atmosphere though the whole drama and some scary moments, but it's not nightmare indulging nor there are any jumpscares.

I understand why some people find it boring because some aspects of the plot could have been touched more in depth for a more immersive experience, like her husband's crimes or the real Anna's backstory (they probably should have kept the 8 episodes instead of shortening it), but I still think it was a great watch and deserves better ratings. The story was quite unique for a kdrama and Anna was a really interesting character as she changes a lot through the drama. The plot doesn't rely on unnecessary twists and turns to drag things out and shock the viewer, it's focused instead on narrating the story in a coherent way that feels realistic. I also loved how some events were narrated through the images alone (Hyun Jo's death for example, and how it affected Yu Mi). The cinematography and the soundtrack were excellent and played a major role in making this drama so good. Not going to say much about Suzy because everything has already been said by everyone else here since she was the main topic for obvious reasons, but she did a great job and I don't think anyone can deny it with a straight face. Definitely one of my favorite dramas this year.

I could be wrong, but I think it's an usual procedure in the Korean police to have one of the spaces in the gun (sorry I don't know the exact term in English) empty to avoid accidents. He put it in his pocket because he was planning to kill Kyung Min. That's how I interpreted it at least.

Sorry but no, the employee's request was more than reasonable and she even had a substitute in mind. That scene was meant to highlight how Yu Mi herself is becoming what she hated the most, her attitude can't be justified. Yes, she was stressed out, so what? Do you think that the people who work for her don't have their own problems too? That woman literally had her child going through surgery, come on. This is the life Yu Mi chose after all, she's taking it out on the wrong people.

Life on Mars was great, it even won awards for being an excellent remake. One Ordinary Day was a very good one too

Honestly for me this isn't nearly as good to deserve an 8.4, but neither as bad to deserve an 5.1 to be fair. I believe it got reviewbombed on imdb by the original fans who didn't even watch the remake and were already negative about it, and it's not true that people are objective there, like at all. (it's also not true that kdrama fans don't vote on imdb, since there are many kdramas with a high score btw).

About the last part in your review, it seems like they changed the numbers of episodes from 8 to 6

First episode was amazing, especially the last scenes. The cinematography makes it look like a movie and the plot is intriguing, I like that kdramas are touching more and more controversial topics lately.

There is an age statistic here on mdl if you use the web version and, grab your seat, the age group that is driving the ratings up is the same that is driving up the ratings for most of the dramas you mentioned (just saying most because I don't feel like checking them all).

Yes, you're going to miss some characters introductions, but it's a gap that can easily be filled because their story will get expanded later. And you're also going to miss one character that will appear again in the last episode (but it's basically a cameo) and his relationship with one of the other main characters, but this isn't going to prevent you from understanding the plot. My advice would be to try and watch from episode 1 just in case you end up liking it, and if you don't then just move to episode 4.

I don't think it's just this honestly, since the more revolutionary tones in the original were highlighted especially toward the end of the season, in the first half they were mostly in the background too, and we still need to get to that part in this adaption (thanks Netflix for illogically splitting it in two parts). I think that it's simply less gripping and adrenalinic. I'm not the greatest fan of the original (in fact I dropped the sequel), but if you suspended your disbelief it was a fun binge watch because the pacing was super tight, there was always something happening, and it was often over the top, but in an entertaining way, so it was difficult to get distracted. Just my two cents.

Romance is not the main focus in this drama, but there are three main romantic couples. Don't expect the first episodes to have much romance though, if it's a problem you can try watching from episode 4.

Slow? Yes. Boring? No. At least for me it wasn't, but if you aren't fully invested in the characters and their stories it might be. The thing is that since it has an episodic format with different stories you might like some of them and dislike others. So maybe choose the ones that interests you the most? I wouldn't usually recommend to do this, but since you're already hesitant it might be the best choice if you want to give it a try.
