-Not Wei Zhao being trapped just as Jiang Ci finally got out. Please let these two be happy already. -Wei Zhao realizes the emperor really don't give af. Like the emperor said, he is the emperor, he can do anything he wants. Even if there is a truth, it doesn't matter, he can twist it to become false. In addition, he can apply any crimes he wants on Wei Zhao regardless of what actually happened. I think in this moment, Wei Zhao realized just even more just how scary the emperor is. -History does repeat itself, current emperor and Prince Qi, now crown prince and Prince Zhuang. -And noooooo, everyone is being thrown into war now with Wei State coming. -Pei Yan finally got his noodles wish fulfilled with Jiang Ci... as least that is closure there.
-Liu Cui (the servant) being the one to salvage that piece of kitty cloth that Master Yan sewed for Jiang Ci. It really shows that Jiang Ci's kindness impacted others so much they were even willing to risk their lives for her. -Wei Zhao and Pei Yan teaming up to have the Crown Prince and Prince Zhuang go against each other. -Both Crown Prince and Prince Zhuang came lowkey begging Jiang Ci HAH. -Also, I wonder if they are ever going to bring up the Second Prince in this drama. Is he dead in this drama or? -Mini ship moment: Jiang Ci choosing to eat the congee (Wei Zhao) instead of the crab (Pei Yan) heh.

Novel is BE in the sense that ML died (but he accomplished his goals) and him + FL did get married, and FL was pregnant before he passed away. FL traveled the world with their son and became a traveling medic.
Drama not certain. The drama will end soon if you want to wait until then. But I think this is a beautiful story regardless and even if the ML does die, I feel like at least he accomplished what he wanted and met the love of his life during his darkest period.
Is this good? I always love Li Landy in Starry Love
Yes, I think if you like Li Landi in TSL, you would love her role here too. The romance here is very entangled in politics though so it is not like TSL where it is more romance focused.
Current emperor seems to favor crown prince who resembles Prince Qi while Prince Zhuang is not the favorite one despite having the same brother killing intention like the current emperor. Is it guilt/regret? Is he afraid that Prince Zhuang would destroy him eventually too? Can't wait for their storyline to be explored too.
Reason why I think the emperor only locked Madam Rong up and didn't end her (for now):
He has always been afraid of the Pei family's army, it is likely he thinks Pei Yan will have more reasons to then rebel against him if he does execute his mother. I really don't believe the emperor is "love-brained" or he didn't kill her for sentimental reasons.
Just in case anyone missed the details during the prison scene in episode 34:
The papers Wei Zhao used for waterboarding Jiang Ci this time are lighter/won't choke her like their first prison waterboarding scene back then. In addition, he also poured the water more on the side so she wasn't getting all of that non-stop on her face. And of course, him sneaking a cup of tea to Jiang Ci so she won't be dehydrated.
Also, I cracked up when Wei Zhao flung those wet papers to Yifei quickly as Jiang Ci started speaking LMAO.
Ep. 33 How Jan Pei’s Mother can hold such a grudge after so many years. Screeching like a 15year old at the…
It is based on two things from her POV. Madam Rong is also from a noble family so for her to have slept with the emperor even before marriage is a big thing. It is shameful to just sleep with someone before marriage, especially for women during that era. And for the emperor to tell her he can't take her as queen but as a consort, it absolutely angered her. She and the emperor are very alike so the emperor knows this humiliated Madam Rong (they are both power-hungry and wanted to climb ranks).
Madam Rong at this point would have moved on since Daddy Pei accepted and loved her. However, due to the emperor's distrust in Daddy Pei/Pei family, Daddy Pei eventually had to fight at the borders and die there (and we still don't know the full extent of what happened here). This then placed her and Pei Yan in a bad position since the rest of the Pei family didn't really care for them. So from her POV, the emperor took her chastity and didn't give her a proper title in return and then took away the person she fell in love later on. As she said, sometimes a "woman's grudge" is enough reason.

Because yes, if Jiang Ci wanted to poison that man, he would be dead by now.
