Well, it was really good, but the last three episodes are just crap. It keeps getting worse. I don't know how…
Same. I am actually quite disappointed, because I liked the majority of the show and it didn't seem that easy to completely destroy it, but they did...
Off topic. What are the laws on assault in South Korea? I noticed in many Kdramas employees are often slapped,…
I don't know the law, but there is certainly a punishment for it. The thing is though, that most of the times the ones who assault are more powerful than the ones getting assaulted, so the matter doesn't get out of the office for two reasons. One is that the person doesn't want to lose their job and secondly because probably they won't get justice (either because there are no evidence, besides the assaulted person's statement or because there are money involved, so even if it gets to court the consequences will be minor). However don't think that this is only happening in Korea. Assault either physicall or sexual and psychological manipulation are some of the most serious and common problems worldwide in a workplace. However most countries are not addressing that problem in their movies/series, because that would make them look bad. Also, of course in some countries it is worse, but you have to take into consideration that each country "works" based on different values. For example Korea is a hierarchical society so it's much more difficult to go against your superior than it is in the U.S. for example. I am sure that if you ask around you will find more people than you think that they have been assaulted one way or another in their workplace. However most of the times they can't even acknowledge that they were wronged or they just don't mind it, saying it's a "one time thing".
I haven't started it yet (hate waiting on eps) but was hoping it is more like "Misty " - with Ji Jin Hee just…
I have watched one and a half episode and it is not like penthouse in the slightest. If you compare it, it is definitely more like Misty and it is not a makjang
Finally some update! logging onto instagram and that post from netflix gave me a surprise.Heard it might come…
It will be on the Toronto international film festival that takes place between 9th of September and 18th of September. My guess is that it will be available a little after that or in the beginning of October. Let's hope for the best.
Bullying is a big problem in Korea. It's gotten worse over the years. Victims often don't speak up because they…
Not necessarily. Of course some of the accusations may be false, we can't know that, but that doesn't mean that all of them are. The reason why most people don't speak in these types of situations is because they either feel ashamed, they think it is their fault or they believe that no one will believe what they are saying. Comments like "why didn't you say it sooner?" is one of the reasons why victims don't talk. Also, if the situation was severe it takes time (and I mean a lot of time) not only to realize what and why it happened, but also to stop blaming yourself. In general in most cases of bullying and not only bullying (also in cases of sexual assault) the stigma is so huge that people talk only when others had the courage to talk first. I am pretty sure there is a phenomenon that explains this in psychology, but I don't remember the name of it. You can search it though. In cases of celebrities it is even more difficult. Who would believe one single person that came out and said their experience? The fans would probably kill them. See what happened with Seungri and now with Kris Wu. People are still defending them, so who would have the courage to talk that easily about someone that many people are idolizing? And lastly, let's not forget that most actors are parts of agencies. That means that if it is needed they can give money to close some mouths. If there are many people accusing them though, it is much more difficult to do so especially when the media are involved.
I have a (probably stupid) question. I see that there are 12 episodes available on Viki and the show has 16. Are there 2 or 4 episodes a week? Or just viki will release the last episodes later?
Morality? Seriously!Imagine having to weigh a fictional character's action (KYH) with accordance to morality of…
Please cover this as a spoiler. Besides that though, I agree. GO can't choose a side, he is influenced easier than a 3 year old kid and he always creates obstacles. It is frustrating to watch. I completely agree with the fact that we should see "morality" taking into consideration the society that they live in. Besides that, at least YH acknowledges the fact that what he is doing is not justice, because in reality there is no such a thing. He may not be moral, but he uses evidence in his trials and takes into consideration the public opinion. And then we have Soo Hyun and professor Min that blame YH without any evidence and they have convinced themselves to be right about everything, when they have done some questionable things themselves. And of course we have Ga On that changes sides every two minutes. I also hope that GO faces the consequences, but it is nearly impossible for me especially after watching the preview of episode 15. I agree and I think that YH will be used as a shield and in the end he will die, probably to save Ga On and Elijah.
You don't feel it, they are cut. Or to be more precise we barely watch him, when he is on screen. There was a scandal about the actor before episode 8 or 7 aired. Something that he cheated his girlfriend and violated COVID-19 restrictions. So they decided to edit his scenes or edit him out when possible
