It is not exactly crime/thriller. This is a makjang so the plot is over the top. Many things are going on and it is full of exaggerations. I personally found it very addicting and I enjoyed it very much, but it is not for everyone. I think you should give it a chance at least until episode 4 (where it starts to get really good) and then decide if you would like to continue.

Honestly SKY Castle doesn't have a good start. The first 4-5 episodes are slow and can be considered boring. Now you will ask "do I have to watch so many episodes to get into it? It is a waste of time". SKY Castle is one of the dramas that is actually worth the wait. It is phenomenal and a great commentary to the Korean educational system. It is one of those dramas that can make you ignore the first boring episodes because the rest of them are perfect.

He is, comparing to Soo Ryun, but he is also smart and a strong character. I will be rooting for him until the queen (hopefully) returns. I hope they don't kill him too :(

SKY Castle is more realistic comparing to the penthouse and it hits close to home especially for students. Good to hear that you liked TLE since I want to watch it, but I am being quite hesitant.
