His first master couldn't help but commit suicide and burn when Zhang Hai left for the capital, cause his role was over and the guilt was probably eating him away since they deceived the kid and his benefactor was actually his enemy who might one day kill him, so the master might have done that as an atonement or because he couldn't come to terms with it.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind waiting 2-3 years more if it meant we could get that level of production for an S2! It would be quite dreamy actually and smth to look forward to!

Both the emperor and the villain most likely died from a heart attack. They are old men after all and after the hallucination toxin took effect, the terror that came from the visions made the heart stop!
It was very clever to make masked guy ZH's 3rd enemy but I am not convinced with the motive of the character.…
I think he had an inferiority complex and that made him want to hold the Seal as a symbol of power...While talking to ZH about his past, he mentioned that he came from a humble background and was bullied in the academy by the noble sons. Also, at another talk, he mentioned how order was lost in court and that you wouldn't last if you remained "clean" (probably a way to justify his means). He wanted to annihilate Dongxia cause they are their closest neighbour country and they have had bloody wars in the past. So by hitting them hard now, he could make sure Dongxia would never get to make a comeback and attack them. He also showed signs of narcissism, he said that what Zhang Hai's father did wasn't a long-term plan or enough to help their people. He thought that by keeping the Seal and overpowering all other nations would be the best way for him to contribute to the country and that this is what would make him a better official compared to the others.
Even though the final episode wrapped things up beautifully, I couldn’t help but cry and feel a sense of emptiness...This was such a memorable C-drama and I’ll definitely remember it for a while~ That last shot of Zhang Hai at the capital gates was everything! On one side, showing his past self, unaware of the challenges awaiting him ahead, ready to enter, and on the other Antu waiting for him with the horse and the Seal, ready to continue their journey together, no matter where life takes them. Our Zhinu really came such a long way.ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
I didn't mention anything spoiler worthy, though? Just that ep 38 had me crying and that it's a HE which honestly almost everyone wants to know what the ending is like (it's not as if I said in detail)
I'm only on ep38 and the tears have already started falling...Despite the happy ending spoilers, I'm sure these last eps will be bittersweet and some will leave our couple's side 😢

Yes...I also thought that outcome halfway through the eps and how possibly masked man is #3 and wanted to exploit our guy by using him for his own plan while fooling him with his r"revenge plan". And I think most here did at one point, but the way this was directed and presented to us, it made you want to not believe it and try to think of other alternatives...They did a great job and honestly, I feel so bad and bitter after ep36...When Zhinu (I won't call him ZH anymore out of spite to his masters ) realized the truth and cried alone, I couldn't help but follow...The betrayal is just too much!

Yep...They weren't reminding him out of goodwill but more like trying to gaslight him and keep his vengeful fire lit, so that he would do their biting!

Idk about other users but an honest opinion here, there is slight romance that will be given some more attention in the later half of the drama. However, the main theme of the series it's about revenge and politics. FL will appear in scenes unrelated to romance since she is important for the ML's plan and she helps him with it! We got a kiss and a hug even a bath scene between them, but the tone of their scenes is mild like lukewarm tea and not raging like a blast of fire. It fits the tone of the drama well^^

His benefactor most definitely and he even "saved" him so that he could make the most out of him...Using his desire for vengeance to eliminate the other 2 fish token holders and use him as a "Seal detector" to help him find the Seal. Cause he knew as Kuai Duo's son, he would probably make it! I do think his Gao master truly started feeling affection for him...After all he raised him for 10 years personally with the other master (who decided to commit suicide and burn when Zhang Hai left for the capital, which now makes a bit of sense since they deceived the kid and his benefactor was actually his enemy so that master might have done that as an atonement). But yeah, I feel so bad for our Zhinu/Zhang Hai, he was the only survivor of the most traumatic experience in his little life and then that was followed by being groomed and taken advantage of for 10 years in order to play into his enemy's palm and help him like a tool...

Oh yes it did start on 35 but it was 100% confirmed on ep36. Either way it gets revealed early on...Now I'm curious how the rest of the 4 eps will unfold!
36ep so far and this one was definitely an enlightening and much anticipated episode. It was tough to watch the deception unravel in real time,clue after clue, the truth slowly came to light. Our guy was used as a pawn, a stepping stone, but what they don’t realize is that he’s way too sharp to be controlled now! The cub has turned into a wolf, and the other side no longer has the upper hand. The upcoming episodes are going to be a mix of sweet and angst for sure!
