I'm currently on ep2 and so far, it's just okay for me. One thing I’ve noticed however, is that this episode shifts the focus more toward the leads and their relationship, rather than the cases. That made it feel a bit slow and less engaging for me, since I usually prefer legal, medical, or crime dramas to keep romance as more of a subplot. But it might also have to do with the cinematography there are quite a few scenes just showing the leads together from a distance or cityscapes. While aesthetically nice, they tend to drag and make it easy for me to lose focus. I caught myself wanting to hit the fast-forward button a few times. With that being said, I love their lunch scenes together with everyone. It kind of reminded of Hospital playlist's friend group. That said, episode 1 did a pretty good job introducing the characters and cases, so I’m hoping episode 2 is just setting more groundwork for the bigger picture. It could honestly go either way from here, but for now, I’m still interested enough to keep watching.
Each case I watch ends up making me cry in the end...I don't want this drama to end, it just hits all the right spots!😭 Btw I am so glad I waited until it was completed to pick it back up from where I left!
Why even feel the need to "adjust," anything? Total B.S. How can China have that much POWER when it's not even…
Because the actors and production crew are still Chinese who leave in mainland...I mean they still need to be sure to have a way out for themselves, a future after the drama ends, cause If the drama causes trouble in mainland even without airing there and catches the gov's attention it will be them and their careers that get impacted! Look at addicted, stay with me, WOH, JITD etc. Personally i don't mind waiting an extra week as long as they don't cancel the show and find a way that works better for everyone, I am good.
Still on ep16 but this Cdrama is so heavy, so painful yet strangely relatable and comforting to watch. It's raw in a way that cuts deep but also feels healing, so that I can’t stop watching. Every scene feels like tearing off the bandage, only to later bandage the wounds again, over and over carefully. That’s the emotional pull it has over me, especially with QingYu’s and MuMu’s family dynamics, which hit a little too close to home. The words from the FL’s mother in the recent episodes really struck a chord. It was like seeing parts of my own mother come to life on screen her words, her silences, the weight of things left unsaid. I guess deep down, I’m hoping one day I’ll find my own Min Sheng or maybe first I can try to manage and overcome all that I’ve been holding onto like I am sure our main leads will be doing here.
I guess the comparison comes from both being medical thrillers involving serial killers? Plus both female leads…
I never said she was a serial killer though. And from what I've seen so far here, I haven't noticed the FL committing any actual crimes either. I just mentioned that both characters gave off some psychopathic vibes. A psychopath doesn't necessarily equal a killer. People with ASPD can be emotionally cold, manipulative or lack empathy but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re violent or killers. Also, as I said, I haven’t finished Hyper Knife so revealing the ending doesn’t really mean much to me rn. The early setup which I watched clearly wanted the audience to question her morality and intentions. So saying she gave off psychopathic vibes doesn’t feel off-base, even if she didn't actually kill anyone. Plus, inchoate crimes are still crimes. Planning or attempting something violent, even if it doesn’t succeed, still speaks about a person's mindset.
I guess the comparison comes from both being medical thrillers involving serial killers? Plus both female leads are portrayed as people having some psychopath traits but personally, I couldn’t really feel it in Hyper Knife, which is why I dropped it after the first 2 eps. With this one, I’m actually liking it better and prefer the story setting so far. We’ll see how it goes but first, I’ll have to wait for some decent subs before I can continue...
Who is in charge of these freakin subtitles? They cannot even distinguish what is present tense, past tense, etc.,…
I have a feeling the Korean streaming platform airing this show is either using machine translations or not providing English subs at all. They also handled Friendly Rivalry (and High Cookie) and I remember running into the same issue for the first few weeks until int platforms like Viki or Netflix picked it up. Personally for now, I’ve paused after episode 1, which I watched on a third-party site with machine subs. I’m planning to let it sit for a bit and wait for an international platform to pick it up since the show looks nice and it's a disservice to watch it with these bad subs. That said, I think it would still be a great idea to keep talking about the show online and help it go viral just like people did with FR. That kind of buzz might encourage int platforms to pick it up sooner! I really hope U+ Mobile TV would invest into English subtitles though...They need to make their platform more internationally friendly in order for them to grow bigger imo.
Episode 4 wrecked me, no joke. Watching Miji retreat into herself, isolating from everyone and hurting in silence for years...it hit way too close to home. I’ve been in that cocoon and honestly, part of me still is. But I’m trying to push myself out of it now because life doesn’t wait for anyone and new situations just keep coming, whether you're ready for them or not.
The moment she spoke to her grandmother completely shattered me: " I know I should get out of here, but I don't want to go back to being nothing again. I have all this life ahead of me and yet I feel completely lost."
And then her grandmother's reply felt like a warm hug through the screen: "If a deer runs away from a lion, does that make it trash? If a hermit crab hides in fear of being eaten, is it a coward? They’re all just trying to survive. You’re hiding to survive, too."
That line particularly "You're hiding to survive" lingered with me.
Also, major props to the actress. She has this rare ability to make emotionally heavy, depressing roles feel so raw and real. I remember finding her quite relatable in Daily Dose of Sunshine too. She just knows how to bring out that pain in a way that makes you feel it.
"Am I living like this because of the way I am? Or am I like this because of the way I live?" "A rosy future was just within my grasp. The future that seemed so obvious to everyone. The future that was always unknown to me. " Just got through episode 1 and I can already tell this drama is going to hit way too close to home. As a young adult ready to enter the real world and workforce, I can't help but feel a bit heavy and uncertain. Both sisters reflect parts that I can deeply relate to. I guess I should get ready to cry every episode with this one if the writing remains consistent.
Just finished episode 1 with machine translations, and even with that, it was so good and full of suspense! The…
Another thing I picked up from this episode is that even though the ML seems to be the team leader, none of his colleagues really take him seriously? Probably because he’s younger than them I guess cause we all know how seriously age hierarchy is taken in Korea… What’s ironic is that he actually seems like the brightest and most capable one on the team, while the others come off as your typical old-school cops ahjussis. This dynamic is definitely going to get frustrating to watch if they keep it up haha
Just finished episode 1 with machine translations, and even with that, it was so good and full of suspense! The 30 minutes flew by so quickly and here I am left wanting more. The main character gives off slight psychopath vibes herself tbh but she’s clearly learned to "control" it and channel that into catching killers instead by putting herself into their position. From the description, it sounds like the little girl in the flashbacks is her and her father the serial killer who has resurfaced after all these years. Which would also make sense for MC to have inherited some of those traits from him, since psychopathy has a moderate genetic basis. And by the end of the episode it seems she’s already figured it out, especially after finding that thread in the corpse, which seems to be his signature move? Also, I feel like we’re already meant to figure out who her father is since it doesn’t seem like the show is trying to keep it a secret, considering all the clues they dropped just in this one episode. Both he and the MC are shown limping, which definitely seems intentional. Maybe they were both injured in the past, possibly during an accident or a confrontation between them? What’s really unsettling though, is how normal and friendly he appeared, just smiling and doing laundry at his shop like any other middle-aged man… and yet, knowing what he really is underneath makes it all the more terrifying. I just hope this early reveal of all these won't take away from the audience's experience...Usually, I like to keep the mystery going for at least a few eps.
PS. Do we know if any international platform will be picking this up? Cause the machine translation has a few grammar mistakes and keeps misgendering the characters, which can get confusing while watching...Until then I might have to let this marinate! Hopefully Viki or maybe Netflix can pick it up!
The actress died...I am so sad cause I am watching season 1 rn and up to ep5 i have been loving her character. Also the way and reason she died was tragic so that makes me even sadder...She had a bright future as actress.
Started this just yesterday and already binged five episodes in one sitting... How did this gem fly under my radar? Compared to some of the other dramas I'm watching, this one absolutely nailed almost everything it's trying to deliver. I don’t want it to end but thankfully, there’s a Season 2 to look forward to! Beyond excited right now!
PS. just stick to the end of ep1, if you don't feel it yet, cause ep2 is where it really started clicking for me. ^^
It's obviously a product placement lol But a more logical explanation could be that she is poor and in debt because…
Yep the state of her house and her saying the only happiness in her life was this manhwa would make sense that she was not at her best and probably depressed. And so she wouldn't care about the lack of money or bills pilling up...
fml is broke, has unpaid bills ,debts but is using an iphone 16😂😂 okay!
It's obviously a product placement lol But a more logical explanation could be that she is poor and in debt because of overconsumption as one of the reasons? I mean it happens in real life too, sometimes people won't have money to pay their bills but will still somehow go around and buy luxury/expensive items...
Alright, I just caught up to episode 6 and… I’m honestly a bit disappointed with how the plot is progressing. It’s starting to feel repetitive, watching the main character make the same mistakes over and over again, only to end up right back where he started. If he doesn’t smarten up and if the group doesn’t stop acting all hot-headed, I really don’t see how they’ll be able to take down the villain. (I mean sure script will "magically" make it work but if that doesn't happen logically I won't be satisfied). I mean, I get that as a boxer he’s used to expressing himself with his fists but at some point, he needs to realize that this approach isn’t working. He’s already repeated the same errors multiple times without learning from them. Plus, it’s not like he’s just some street fighter, he’s an Olympic athlete. Discipline and focus should be second nature to him, so it’s frustrating to see him act so impulsively and not live up to that standard.
Honestly the tension did take a bit of a hit when they revealed the villain so early in the story. It feels like some of the thrill and mystery are gone. And let’s talk about the cop’s daughter cause yes she’s a teen but she’s in high school, not elementary and Drugmon dropped so many clues right in front of her, talking about things openly. Even if she was pretending to play dumb for safety, she still said almost nothing of what she heard to her dad afterward and didn't even found her suspicious for taking her out of the safe house for "ice cream" and leaving afterwards.
As for the comedy, it’s no longer providing relief for me, it’s just starting to feel more annoying. The romance, especially the love triangle, isn't doing much for me either. I found myself fast-forwarding several scenes in the latest episodes. I really wish they had kept the romance and comedy in the background and focused more on the villain and the action. With the villain already revealed and 16 episodes total, I can’t help but feel like this is just the beginning of those filler content, cause otherwise how can they fill all that air time up?
I will still stick around though since I enjoyed eps 3-4 maybe next week the vibes will be different again. But yeah, my expectations have definitely taken a hit.
I watched the school episodes in the dark and they freaked me out so much. Don't mind me trying to sleep with…
As a self-proclaimed scaredy cat myself, I remember binge-watching most of the episodes during the day after realizing how creepy it gets lol I couldn't risk watching it at night! And then I'd always follow it up with something light and fluffy before bed just so I could sleep at night haha Still, it was absolutely worth it and I don't regret it one bit. I honestly wish I could erase the plot from my memory just to experience it all over again, even with how bittersweet it gets toward the end.😭
