I just started watching this today and I've already reached ep8! This is definitely one of the best modern Chinese dramas I've seen in a while! The plot is solid, the acting/chemistry is great and I love the cinematography. I haven't felt bored or wanted to skip any scenes so far and I'm still excited to watch the rest! I can see why it got so much hype! I really hope it can keep it up until the end though...
I don't understand some of the complaints below honestly...This drama is delivering exactly what it promised so far imo It's a light hearted rom-com with some emotional moments along with fantasy elements featuring the gumiho and deities/shamans which I am quite a fan of. So far it's maintaining a good balance on all fronts! The acting it's not bad and while the chemistry between the leads isn't explosive they have a nice rapport that suits this type of show. Eps 5 and 6 definitely felt a bit weaker, but that's to be expected since we've reached the midpoint and some groundwork needs to be laid for the latter half to unfold.
I’m a little over half way through and I agree with you 100% so far this drama does NOT deserve such a low rating.…
've reached episode 26 myself and honestly it's still enjoyable to watch! Although since the breakup phase has started, the episodes do feel a bit dragging at times. But it makes sense and is necessary considering how their relationship is viewed as a "taboo" by society. So we just have to bear it I guess.
I also feel that MDL ratings are becoming increasingly unreliable and the reviews for some dramas have turned into a battleground between actor fans and haters. It's disappointing honestly because I'm here for the dramas and the constructive fun comments and interactions.
I also think you’re right that many people fast-forward or don’t pay enough attention while watching. I've often heard people say that certain dramas are confusing and that they can't understand how things happened, even when the story is explained. I’ve seen shows with choppy editing or confusing storylines and this one isn’t like that.
I've had this c-drama on my watchlist for months possibly due to its rating discouraging me to start and other factors. Today, I finally browsed through my list and decided it was the perfect time to start it! And what a great decision that turned out to be!
I don't know about the others but personally I was captivated from ep1 and I've already reached ep 6 now! In just these 6 episodes the show has made me experience a wide range of emotions. The opening eps were engaging and despite the large number of characters introduced, it's not hard to follow. The plotline is refreshingly unique mainly since the way the FL enters the ML's household is anything but ordinary. Honestly as long as you’re familiar with common c-novel and c-drama tropes, you should be able to follow this drama without any issues. I also appreciate the acting from most of the characters their performances are quite immersive and not over the top. Personally, I really like the FL's character so far she has a heroic aura to her and is clever without falling into the typical comedic damsel in distress or overly naive stereotype FL. If anything, the ML is still a bit immature but he possesses a sharpness and wit to him that I find promising. I'm really looking forward to their character development!
For now, all I hope is that the drama maintains its quality and doesn’t lose momentum midway or toward the end as many c-dramas tend to do. However, even if it takes a dip later on I don't think I'll regret watching it based on how enjoyable the opening episodes have been!
Wow...Netizens can be so cruel...Like I get it, having our faves while watching and empathizing more with some than the others but this is ridiculous...It's just a dating show!
It's clear from the lack of after-show footage that Yooshik and Hyunji's relationship either never happened in real life or was very short-lived, which doesn't surprise me at all tbh.
The biggest surprise for me from the finale was actually Baekhyun and Yoon Nyeong actually becoming a real couple after the show. Honestly, Baekhyun seemed like he wasn’t over his ex throughout this so I was shocked they made it work. I suppose they figured things out in the end? Maybe now that he doesn't have to see Hyunji around, he can return to his "normal" self.
I felt a bit sad for Minkyung. But based on her ex's attitude it really seemed like there was no hope for them and their relationship. 9 years are not easy to cope with and it seemed to hit her harder but I am almost sure Yooshik will be hit by it more after the show. Hopefully, this show helped MK move on though and help her find someone new in real life!
Wonkyu and Jiheon were honestly my favorite couple and I’m glad they got back together and made things work. Along with Woojin and Jiyeon, they ended up having the sweetest and most natural relationships!
I really hope someone will update/spoil us in the comments after the final ep airs about who actually got together even after the show ended! If they have any active couple accs right now I would love to follow them!
i would recommend to try it out, its good quality, even if the direction of the story i didnt personally liked…
Thank you for your reply! I think I'll give a few episodes a try then! It's just that I've heard that the series turned bad near the end and some found the conclusion underwhelming hence why... I was a bit concerned about investing my time if the ending eps don't meet my initial expectations. Still since I don't have any other xianxia series to watch, I might as well give it a go!
Btw I absolutely loved Destiny Brings the Demon and Love in the Clouds plus I also enjoyed "Love of the Divine Tree especially its ending! Honestly it has to be one of the most satisfying and wholesome endings in recent xianxia shows!
There are far better Xianxia out there some deep amd serious, some relaxing. This one started well and the story…
I've already watched your suggestions and they were indeed good and some of my faves! I couldn't get past 2 eps of Feud even Moonlight Mistique was average to me so if you say this is worse than Feud I guess there is no hope of liking it lol

Thank you for your input! Yes I've watched a few good ones recently but good xianxia/wuxia have been a bit rare in the recent years...Do you have any personal suggestions that would make a better watch?
Would you recommend this drama? Is the ending as horribly written as some say? Was the overall execution of this cdrama worth it? Although I like the main leads and have watched other shows with them I am no fan of any actors/actresses so I won't waste hours just to stan support them and their dramas...So I want some honest replies! Many thanks! Also if you have any good recent/current costume cdrama do share^^
Shine on me is already on Netflix and SAL is still here 🥲 IQIYI you’re going to burn
I haven't yet watched Shine on me but I just checked and SOM it's a Tencent produced drama...Iqiyi just got it's distribution rights (it does happen among the big 3 tencent , youku and iqiyi sometimes they will get rights for the others dramas) so it's not their call I think but tencent's. On the other hand Speed and Love is an Iqiyi drama.
I’m episode 2 now and I’m having problems getting through it. I feel like someone slowed the speed down on…
No it's just that the actors mouths don't even much the audio and you can tell it's fake...And looks kinda weird you will se it on later eps when ML and side characters speak thai.
