I finally found a source with good subs to watch this, and the first two episodes I saw today were pretty solid! Episode 1 was a bit slow to get into, but the second one definitely picked up the pace. I can already tell this drama is going to be a wild ride. Jei is such a complex, multi-layered character, and I’m excited to see how she unfolds. I have a feeling she’s going to be both poison and the cure for Seulgi or at least, I feel that’s what she wants to become to her. She seems to find Seulgi’s resistance and pridefulness intriguing, and that’s what draws her in?
As for Seulgi, I really feel for her. The whole 'missing child' storyline on ep1 was a bit hard to buy though like, how could the orphanage and police not help her find her family, especially since her father reported her missing and handed out flyers based on the ep's scenes? Plus, she didn’t seem young enough to forget her full name and other important info, so that part felt a little off to me. Still, she’s already been through so much in the orphanage and rural high school, and now she’s found herself in an even bigger mess... sigh.

By the way, any manhwa readers who’ve finished it? Does it have a happy ending?

Also for those who have already watched the Pyramid game, so far this drama feels like a Suji x Harin AU to me! Like what we could have had if... ><

So dark romance does exist, and GL is definitely not just a figment of my imagination! Overall, I'm here for the plot, not for the skinship scenes—but if they're well done, that's a nice bonus for me! So maybe it's time YOU stop spreading misinformation.

It seems like you're projecting based on your own experiences. Personally, I rarely rate ongoing dramas, especially ones I've dropped! I'm not the toxic, whiny person you're trying to make me out to be, and I’m not fixated on this being a full-fledged GL (however I did mind your words cause they were trying to erase the GL aspect of it altogether and you calling people weird doesn't change shit). If anything, it’s you who's clearly obsessed with the idea of this not being a GL. And sadly, even the lead actress seems to disagree with you!

First of all, please refrain from making assumptions or generalizations. I never tried to sexualize anyone; I merely stated a fact that this is adapted from a GL work and has GL elements in it. Also, I haven’t watched any episodes yet. All I’ve seen so far are the brief teasers, which included a kiss, so there’s limited material to assess how the script will be adapted. We don’t yet know how similar it will be to the GL Manhwa.
Secondly, including certain elements doesn't necessarily change the entire genre, but it does affect how the story unfolds and the dynamics between characters. Just like how a comedy can have moments of drama or horror can have moments of romance, the development of a relationship between the leads, especially when it's complex, doesn't always fit into just one neat category. The key is in how it's handled and portrayed. And not all stories follow traditional romance formulas, otherwise toxic/manipulative relationships as a trope wouldn't exist in "darker" romance genre (not that I am hellbent on them becoming a canon couple here anyway).

As for your next point, it seems you’ve missed my previous reply. LGBTQ+ issues are still viewed a certain way in Korea, so please do your own research on that.

The way you contradict yourself in just one sentence...How can it have GL scenes and not be GL?? Ofc the director won't say much knowing how Korea still acts to this day...They will try to gain positive attention from both sides for the show's success.

Yes, I don't mind that! I know that the development of their relationship is central to the story, so it will include such scenes. I just hope they won't try to overdo it just to get more hype and lose the ball in the meantime...If anything I am interested to see how they will unravel the psychological part of this story and their relationship development.

Aren't the eps just 30 min long? So 4 eps/ week is just like the usual 2 eps/week we get from bigger productions... Plus if the drama is good rather than overwhelmed I would be happy to get more eps so soon except if it's just bad lol (but since I have yet to find them in good quality I have yet to comment on that).

And I think it suits this drama well cause our girlies here have some craziness and rivalry in them too!! It strikes a perfect balance between alluring you and then making you uneasy building a sense of tension and anticipation for what's to come next!!

Okay, just before checking the eps I want to say, that as much as I am happy that this is not censored I hope they won't focus too much on those scenes...Rather than having sensual/skinship scenes to attract attention, I would prefer they give more emphasis on giving us a solid plot and acting!! I am wishing for something like Pyramid Game so I hope this serves!!

The original material this adaptation is based on is a GL manhwa and based on the teasers released on youtube there is a quick kiss in the bathtub scene! So yeah I consider it one^^

Xianxia used to be 50-60+ eps long so the 40 eps format feels okay to me as long as they can keep a good pacing...They said the scriptwriter is the same one as Love and Redemption and I remember loving that one from beginning to end so let's hope for the best here too!!

Okay I didn't know that omg!! Now I have high hopes for this drama cause LAR has been one of my faves of its kind!! I really need a cdrama that can hook me, cause lately none of the new ones did...

Well obv it was just a figure of speech to highlight my interest and love for this show! I think 2-3 more seasons would be nice tho especially since there is quite a lot of stuff left to cover from the webtoon^^

It’s important to consider the genre. This kind of drama adaptation is staying true to its source material leaning into a more hyperrealistic or even satirical style. Not every show aims to be grounded in reality; sometimes the over the top nature of the characters and the fightings are part of the show's appeal or tone.
Also in the begining of ep 6 we learnt that Han Ui is actually reqruiting these guys from various high schools around the area forming his own private "gang". So I think calling the characters ‘psycho’ or ‘brainless’ is a bit of an oversimplification. Maybe they’re complex in ways that the show has yet to explore or show to us.
Finally I think part of the fun is that the show isn't aiming for realism. It's more about shock value and pushing limits. Not every show needs to follow the rules of real-life logic to be entertaining or compelling. Maybe this show just isn't for you! There is no need to force yourself to fit in the mold, if it's not clicking with you. You’re better off finding something that truly resonates with you and entertains you! ^^
