The girls are entering from the next ep it seems! Honestly seeing them in the poster I had my suspicions of the school being co-ed but the whole gender-based separate classes made it hard to guess >< The ending scene of ep 2 was so funny tho lmao So far this is a 10/10 for me I just hope it will keep the same vibes throughout the whole thing and please NO ROMANCE!!
Whats the news on this? is there gonna be a season 2?
As much as I liked this I don't think a S2 is needed here. Everything was pretty well tied in the end and the last few minutes scene with the new girls had more of a symbolic meaning rather than being a hint for S2...However, if the same production wants to bring another new Season cause of its popularity I would be on board for sure~ But since season 1 was based on a manhwa (pre-existing material) I guess they would need time to produce a new script from scratch?
It looks like another similar Kdrama Friendly Rivalry is coming out this February. It's again based on GL Manhwa but toned down ofc cause Korea mainstream ain't ready yet... After watching Pyramid Game last year, I have been craving for more K-drama like this, so hopefully, it's good!! We really need more female-centric dramas without unnecessary straight couple scenes and top-notch acting & production!!
I watched pyramid game a while ago so I don't really remember there being two couples. The idol and swimmer were…
In the manhwa ver. it was hinted that Myung Ja Eun and Su ji (MC) were also a thing together by the end of the story but it was greatly toned down in the drama (I suppose since it involved the main characters and that's I guess why they added the tech brother guy which never existed in the manhwa). However, I liked how at least they showed them together during the closing of the drama finale and without any love lines at least.
While I'm truly sold on almost every pair's romance in this drama and love the unique color themes of the drama,…
I've watched my fair share of idol dramas myself, but I feel like they really went above and beyond in this one. The costumes, hair ornaments, and makeup were so intricate here. I've never seen all three come together so elaborately before. However, I do think that the heavy focus on these details limited the actors' ability to fully express themselves, which also made it harder for us to connect with the more emotional scenes. I wish I could have overlooked it like you but it was sadly far too glaring for me.
I agree with you, if they worked on some aspects that you mentioned specifically in the beginning and the last…
Exactly! If they had only focused more on the pacing and the overall execution of this, it could have been a much stronger drama. It’s a shame because there was so much potential, but those poor production choices really held it back.
Finally got to complete this! Moonlight Mystique was honestly a c-drama I was really looking forward to! As a fan of xianxia and this being part of my favorite trilogies, my expectations and anticipation for it run high, especially with a cast I admired from previous works. Unfortunately, it didn’t fully live up to those expectations for me.
The early episodes were a struggle, with pacing issues, awkward OST input choices, and editing that made it hard to connect. However, once the plot picked up and the sub-plots came into play, it became more engaging, especially with the mystery surrounding the stone and the contemplations tying the storylines together.
While the lead actors did their best, I wasn’t sold on the romance. It lacked emotional depth, and some scenes felt exaggerated or stiff, possibly due to character writing rather than the actors themselves or maybe cause of the elaborate styling restraining their acting abilities (will explain further below).
On the positive side, the supporting cast added some real emotional weight to the latter half of the drama, making it more compelling and even having me cry at times. However, as the drama neared its end, the plot became predictable, and the rushed "5 minutes of happiness" finale didn’t leave much emotional payoff.
Now technically wise, I loved the OST and the CGI was passable, while the drama sets and outfits were truly stunning. But, the elaborate costumes, while beautiful, somewhat hindered emotional immersion in the sadder or angrier played scenes. It was hard to connect with the pain when the characters looked so perfectly styled with full makeup drawn.
Overall, Moonlight Mystique had potential, but certain choices kept it from being as memorable as I’d hoped. This is a 7.5/10 for me!!
hmmm I wonder why a drama about studying is rated 18+!
Umm 2 eps in and with that amount of violence and bloodshed I would find it weirder if it wasn't 18+ lol At least by Asian/Korean standards just them showing the cigarettes and students smoking with no censor makes this a 18+ let alone the rest happening...
Thanks to ZB1 singing the intro OST, I am so glad I noticed this drama!! I can't believe I was about to miss this!! This gives off major Weak Hero and High school gangster vibes and I am here for it!! I cannot wait for the next eps~
Btw they really chose the actors well!! They can all deliver and no scene felt fake or forced so far!! Comedy and action scenes were all on point!!
Well, Pyramid Game was also based on a GL webtoon, and even though the K-drama toned down some of the relationships, they still kept it female-centric (which is rare in itself to see in kdrama). The two couples were subtly hinted at in a few scenes! Given how homophobic Korea still is, it's tough for mainstream K-dramas to feature openly queer leads. So, as long as they don't add unnecessary straight scenes to the storyline, keep the girls' moments—even if just implied—and ensure top-notch acting and production, I’m totally on board! After Pyramid Game last year I was craving so bad for another drama like it! So please let Friendly Rivalry be the one ><
Started this on a whim after having it on my watch list for ages and falling into a drama slump..And tho it has certain issues I will talk about below it has managed to keep my interest for now~ And with how busy I am it's the perfect everyday drama to fill my time while I wait for my mood and schedule to improve so I can watch my other ongoing dramas ^^
For starters, the thing that kept me going for the first 9 episodes was definitely the bromance between Song Yan and Suo Jun! They really felt like soulmates to me or a bickering old married couple with the rest of the firefighters as their kids haha. The firefighters' training/rescue scenes were quite cringy and "overdone" at times in the professional sense tho, which did give them a fake feeling, but I still liked the emotional bonding portrayed between the fire crew! The medical side with FL seems to have done a better job in that department in my opinion, the medical scenes felt less staged! As I am still on episode 15 right now the romance has yet to pick up but I do like the chemistry of the leads! The ML honestly was a bit too aggressive at the earlier eps and though I do understand why he would feel that way, as a disciplined firefighter chief it's a bit out of character to have such emotional outbursts especially in public at least to me...Btw both ML & FL have lots of emotional baggage and past traumas, to be honest, and so far I can't say they have dealt with them but they have only shown it to us ( I guess it's still too early into the plot). What I did like and appreciate tho is FL's self-awareness!! She knows that her foster mother has been emotionally abusing her and restraining her but since it was done from a young age it's hard for her to break free and stand up for herself...Especially when the rest of the family is of no help either...I mean her foster brother is even harboring romantic feelings for her...I really did end up fast-forwarding the scenes with her "family members" . They are just too disturbing. All in all, it's been quite engaging so far and as a fan of multi-cases series, I like that we get new rescue cases every few episodes while progressing with the main plot.
EDIT: On episode 25 right now and these last couple eps have been so good and emotional that they really brought me to tears with the latest case/rescue...I hope it can keep this momentum until the last episode and I will be delighted!!
EDIT 2: On ep 32 right now, the moment the FL finally mastered up the courage to set herself free from that family felt so cathartic!! I did feel a bit sad for the foster brother being left behind "in the dark cave" but everyone should learn to live for themselves and their own lives. He should also find the strength in him to stand up against his parents!! The romance is in full swing right now and the couple's chemistry is off the charts!! I am also enjoying their latest rescues more, they have gotten better and the slight comedic fillers with the fire crew are gold!! I am already feeling sad that I will soon have to part with this drama, the characters have really grown on me. A solid 8.5/10 from me.
You said "Hoping she dies next ep and we get the last contemplation." above so it confused me a bit...I mean there is no next cotemplation since this maiden arc is the last right? ><
Wait there is another one?? I thought they were 5 no?? Kindness (Ningan city), Killing (Tian huo's city), Love (Fox clan), Hatred (Rock city) and now Greediness . There is another one??
Honestly this is me between TBL and MM so far TT When one picks up pace and I start liking it more the other will…
I feel u! I also stopped FP cause of the S2 and for MM/TBL I feel the same way right now! Which is why I paused TBL for now and plan to pick it after it's complete and I have more free time cause I don't want to watch it like it's a chore! For MM the different arcs with the contemplations kicking in truly saved the drama for me...The beginning was kinda hard to get into...

I had a hard time getting into it in the first couple eps some things ticked me off with editing/ost use/writing etc. but after the 2nd arc closed I think it picked up! 3rd and 4th arc with the fox clan and rock clan are my fave but now I am kinda feeling it got a bit sluggish again...With TBL I had a bit of a hard time in the beginning to get into (not as much as MM) but now I have lost interest a bit after 20smth eps...These 2 dramas are like a limbo for me haha But I can't even seem to find anything better...Tho some new cdrama are currently coming out! (gotta check them but time is limited sigh).
