I’ve seen him in at least 1 drama, not bad. Also only on ep1, a bit slow to my liking, and no chemistry between him n the girl (I know it’ll change later to a different actress), however, need that spark/gel, story is a bit meh atm lol.
There was part where I can see he’s acting like this cool charming, smitten with the girl. If it was in another veteran actors (the old gens), or a better director who would tell him to do those expressions a second longer, it would be much more dashing. Anyway, I’m slightly bored that’s why I’m here lol!

1 - irl - yes - after years and years of research and studies. This is ancient China 😒 I highly doubt it lol. This is more cdrama tries to copy modern practice to appear scientific, without true understanding of how it’ll work in the period or whether it’s suitable for the setting 😒
And if she was that pedantic about germs/scientific, she would tie her hair up better to see clearly. How can anyone work with hair cover half her face! Like the girl from a series of unfortunate events, she would tie her hair up before getting to work lol

You are not alone! Many (even me) hates political intrigue drama fall madly in love with this one. The pace, the story telling are well done, and not draggy like many other political intrigue dramas.

JXN was consumed by hatred in her previous life. In her previous life, she was stolen from a life of pampering and love. She grew up in a harsh environment where she doesn’t have a full tummy, nice clothes to wear, and no respect from the villagers as her “mother” was a concubine and got kicked out of the house and now has to live in the village. She would be bullied and teased a lot as a kid.

Later on, when her “mother” die, she was taken back to the main house. However, instead of being loved and pampering, her real mother coldly told her she won’t stop loving her sister, and displaying all the love and affection towards her sister, while outwardly showing disapproval, disappointment and pure contempt toward JXN.

Moreover, JXN learned that in the end, her “mother”, who she has loved and respected her whole life, treated her as second, on her death bed, she wanted JXN to give her sister the gold bangle. While she got nothing. So not only her real mother doesn’t love her (or love her most), her “mother”, who raised her, her whole life also doesn’t love her. In everything, she is second.
Then she found out her sister has a chance with the crown Prince, and on track to become empress. So she stole that chance, and become the most powerful, so that no one can look down on her and treat her as second.
She was so consumed by hatred, and the feeling of rejections, and being look down upon, that she couldn’t see other’s POV. She couldn’t understand her mother. All the understandings are from this life, only when she let go of the hatred, the obsession with power and being best, that she sees the people, and their true heart

Questions:
1 - why does she need to wear gloves when exam the corpse
2 - is it LXY’s real voice?

Many said that the first half is the best, n you are about to finish the first half, so if you didn’t enjoy it/hook by it, you might as well go watch another drama lol. But if you want to keep going, you can 😊

That’s not the trend lately lol. Cdrama strives on SE/OE. I can name at least 10 dramas in the past 10years that end like this 🙄😒 because they think it’s cool! But mainly because Chiung Yao, famous Taiwanese writer, wrote many of her dramas ful of tears and angst. And all her dramas/novels are classics, so they copied it/wont let that go!

It rather depends on your preference I think. If you are into wuxia/xianxia, there will be more fighting going on. More excitement so to speak. This one won’t have many fight scenes.

If you are into modern romance, fluff and sugar, lots of interactions and lovey dovey cute stuffs between the leads early on. This drama is slow burn, it won’t be as fluffy. We literally surviving on crumbs here!

This drama is political intrigue. You can’t fast forward. And ultimately, if the story isn’t interesting to you, it’s just not for you 🤷‍♀️ there’s plenty other to watch lol

I think because they are not doing that many dubs, and with shorter episodes, too. Means post production isn’t as long? Though I hope it doesn’t follow the last immortal. That drama just looks terrible, due to not enough post production efforts.
I agree that we have a decent trailer for MM quite early, but I guess the scenes in there capture the essence of the drama and don’t need CGI. I do hope it comes out soon. Because it has been 3-4mo now since SOKP and nothing good is on from cdrama. Kdrama is also a slight let down, the dramas I’m interested in is still coming out… n while it’s not bad, I do not feel like waiting for ages for it lol. Bad enough that I have to wait for constellation lol

Tbqh, legend of shenli, matchmaker YueHong are the two I’ll check out but not overly excited about it. No cdrama currently really makes me excited about it sadly >_< like there are a bunch I’m interested in, but not super excited 😕 (because the stories are pretty same-my). Better looking actor and actresses, feast to the eye but the story aren’t fresh :/
Currently, I’m in love with constellation (AppleTV), before that monarch - legacy of monsters, silos, foundation, wheel of time. Like cdrama really needs to expanse their stories lol. I kid you not, cdrama hasn’t even covered all the tvb’s plots yet lol. (Sure in term of fantasy, they have more stories than TVB, but in term of modern, between period and modern, and modern mixed fantasy, nope lol)

Though I have to say because they didn’t go all the way, it’s a lot better than some of the fanfic I read (someone linked it here a long time ago). And yes, the logistics = it was better than the real deed as they don’t know how to stop pregnancy. XW even thinks sharing the same bath tub after he gets himself off might cause her to be pregnant! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think the “seeing the hate in her eye” is his perception, how he feels everything and anything he does is dirty and disgusting. That’s why he run off next morning lol

They possibly hit their head n dream of their bad marriage lawl. Or went to a temple and a priest/monk tells them a sad story about 2 who don’t work on their marriage and ends up with regrets and now he’s a monk 🤣

I know what you mean about the novel. I think apart from the super spicy bedroom stuffs, their other interactions are like waterfall and thunder on his end, and ice lake on her end. So you couldn’t feel the chemistry as much, as here we lack the visual of their eyes, how they look at each other during those moments. Because the author doesn’t described his feeling, she/he only described the confused feeling JXN has, and even that not clear. And when JXN understands why XW knows her best, and things he said resonates with her, it was short and not many. Whereas in the drama, we got a lot more nuance interactions between them that show us as a the viewers why they are 2 peas in a pod
