1 - sound implausible to cancel their reservation for being a no show, as in during the delay, they couldn’t contact the hotel to tell them they were late?? And many hotels would have their check in time frame quite large, like 8hrs-ish at the very least, huge amount of time to contact the hotel, but yea… also good for having an explanation in the novel, but where’s the explanation in the drama?? 2 - must have missed the bit where they are cousins, as they keep saying brother and sister (yes I know in Asia, we call our cousin brother and sister instead of cousins, and she said she was 3mins earlier made me think they are twins lol.

I read on Twitter that apparently it’s because BL is very good at self marketing using Douyin lol, all the short clips of her doing the dancing/wearing character’s clothes really promote the drama and draws interests to the drama and the casts. And I have to agree, I’m now loving her douyin with ARP lol (though I don’t ship them as they feel more brother sister vibe lawl)
Oh I’m not too worried about us discussing TTEOTM lol. What you said in regards to TTJ is right, though I guess during its airtime, ppl was bypassing what happened to the nanny, n then later on, it shows he’s now remorseful about what happened to the nanny to me feel very much whitewashing him lol. Because in the novel, he was not there during that arc lol. As a matter of fact, he was only starting to care for the world in the last arc, because LSS cares for the world, he still couldn’t care less about it lol. So to me, in a sense, he got super whitewashed, and become more of a misunderstood ml, rather than truly grey grey (and sure he didn’t care for his nanny shows he’s not righteous, but that was like the only cruel act he did and many said or something implied what happened to her was outside of his calculation so not really his faults 😒 at least that was one of the argument lol). Anyway, great discussion 😊 while I love both dramas, I just feel XW is more closely followed the book, minus the ending (as we can’t have someone kill the current king lol)

He’s a misunderstood hero in a sense that he was bullied, so all the people he killed were bad/evil. The people in the drama thinks he’s evil, while the audiences saw it’s a justified act. Same with when he “killed” his shifu and everyone from the immortal sect thinks he’s evil, he’s misunderstood lol. Let’s say we don’t include the questionable xxx stuffs (I don’t think it’s r4pe btw), but the killing of the innocent civilians- that should not be a problem if we were in the western drama making settings. And with the uprising of an evil king over a good king (DW’s character was good through and through and not being controlled by his crazy evil stupid king daddy. But the CCP does not want uprising plot because they are insecure, and hence we have TTJ as a good king, uprising against the bad king 😒
