Oooh I forgot Fushigi Yuugi, used to be my favourite! In Vietnam, we have TVB series quite early on, I think I started my journey with HK series since 7, started on manga around that time, too. With Doreamon, detective Conan and ranma 1/2. First wuxia series was heavenly sword, dragon slay Saber (?) - caught only a few parts of it though but it was by the recently pass away Kathy Chow and Sheren Tang (I was impressed by sheren Tang lol). Sooo a series on Netflix caught my eyes, Yu Yu Hakusho, don’t know why (apart from my brain keeps nudging me), so I pressed play, after 10mins, I’m like why is this so familiar (I know it’s based on a manga/anime based on Netflix description), especially the spirit king and his dummy 🤣🤣🤣 (that was the nail in the coffin lol, the whole time his face was not shown, and as they about to reveal his face, my brain is like be a dummy, be a dummy 🤣). lol is it because they slow down her “side eyes” to show us she’s “planting” stuffs? Or the sound effects that try to make you feel/laugh? Or the plot holes right off the bat: skilled assassin couldn’t just throw the pill cover into the fire next to her 😅 or how the bad guys can never seem to count their own people, and never question how they keep missing people 😅? Or how they keep introducing character’s name like it might mean something then kill him 2s later 😒 It’s one of those dramas to me that requires a lot of mood to start.

And we talk about a range of things, from design layout, to technology, and one of the reason why China couldn’t steal the top notch stuffs (and remake them) is because they are sanctioned from high end chips. There are cases of Chinese (spy/people working for the government) actually go into those tech conferences and take photos and what’s not. And China rips many benefits from all the contracts it get from Apple. Chinese employees who work at Foxconn get paid decent salaries, and China gets capital investments.
