So, FYI everyone, the expected release date of the MOVIE DVD is set for August 17, 2016. This means we'll, HOPEFULLY, be getting subs soon after that date. Subbers cannot do anything for this until someone torrents the DVD and uploads it to the internet so they can grab it and work their magic. For me that means the soonest we could see this is like the last week of August or first week of September. I don't see it taking longer than 2 months to find it though because of how popular this particular series has been. But we'll see.
Just an FYI for people trying to find subs for any Thai lakorn, it's probably best to use Jasmin's lakorn blog. The website address is different. I'm not gonna post a link here. If you wanna see it just google the blog name and it'll pop up.
If you don't see a "COMPLETED" version of the one you're looking for, don't despair, in the dropdown for "English Subbed Lakorns" there's a spot for "incomplete". They'll be able to give you the most update downloads or streams for Eng subs.... Currently this particular drama is subbed to ep. 5... and they're still subbing it. the links to them all are on the site.
If you like that they did this, it would probably be nice if you showed them your <3.
Welp the U Prince Series didn't start out the way I wanted it to or even expected. I hope all the "Princes" in future "compilations" have a better personality.
This is the worst I've ever seen Push. I guess it's good for him to play a more evil, Thai lakorn traditional guy, but I just really am bothered seeing him like this. He's the guy I love to see fall head over heels for the girl. Even in Roy Leh Sanae Rai, I could find something about his character to like, so redeemable quality. But here, I had to stop at ep. 5.... I'm gonna wait until the final episode is out and subbed to complete this so I can marathon it. I hate the lingering thoughts of "asshole" Push plus I want the ability to easily ffwd thru it if it gets unbearable.
...but for the concept of "University Prince", I'm not swallowing this series well. It's nothing like the Ugly Duckling... then again, it's "university" not "high school" so maybe more mature, but when I decide to take a chance on a "slap-kiss" drama, at least I'm prepared for what's to come. Kidnapping, rape, control-freak, mean, violent, aggressive, possessive is what I expect the man to be because that's the "style"... but from previous of this genre of "series" along with the total list of actors who come from them in this "U Prince" series, I wasn't at all expecting slap-kiss.... I don't consider this a spoiler, I consider this "fan-service" so you all can prepare yourself that this is starting off in traditional "slap-kiss" Thai drama fashion. Sheild your hearts ladies.
Not gonna lie, Je Soo Ho is the best boyfriend material I've seen written in a long while, maybe ever. He's the best... and it is his love for her that makes me never get irritated or petty about Bo Nui's character. I'm able to see her clearly and not worry about hair, makeup, clothes, or irrational behavior but just look into her heart. He forces that on me in every scene. He reminds me that she's never done anything to harm anyone intentionally. That everything she does is to help or protect others, even strangers, to the extent of giving up her own happiness. He reminds me that, no matter her illogical thinking and means, she only wants the best for everyone around her and, more so, for the ones she loves. Thank you Joo Ho for keeping me from being a petty, angry, KDrama fan. MUAH! <3
This was a frustrating drama that had the majority of ppl by ep 26 pulling their hair out and starting to be anti-OTP fans. The sad part is the main OTP actually had really good chemistry, but they never let them be together in a romantic way for various reasons. They dragged the story out, and didn't give much happy times with the couple. This could have been shorten to 16 episodes and worked better. The lead actress was written so poorly that for the 2nd have she became this pathetic, self-abusing, stubborn martyr. Worst for her was that she had the BEST group of friends, both male AND female, surrounding her and supporting her that there was you could never understand fully why she continued to act this way in unnecessary fashion.
The twists and disclosures of secret came WAY too late for the main lead to have their relationship developed which made you feel robbed because honestly, PHJ was awesome, and LFE was still bearable to watch even while they wrote her character so horribly and dressed her so shabby. It's not HER fault, it's the production, writing, and direction that caused this to end up being a hot mess.... thankfully these actors were good enough to hold your interest to watch and try to find something worthy to hang your hat on.
One things for sure, this drama is not rewatchable in the least.
Got to the end of episode 6 and that last sentence he says made me stop in my tracks without having read any comments or spoilers. At that point, you already get the direction the next two episodes will go, but with what, where, when, who, and how being the only questions left to be answered.
As for character development, I thought there was enough between all of them including the cat. Putting the blame on Na Woo's character is unfair. I didn't find her acting any lacking than 70% of the young girls out there. She's no worse than Yura, or an equal female actress. This isn't 6FDs for Pete's sake. But being disappointed that this drama doesn't match the title or how it was originally presented as between Seung Ho and a cat isn't any of the actors faults either. Frankly, I held off from watching this purely BECAUSE I didn't see how a dude talking to his cat for 8 episodes could be anything BUT boring. Interestingly enough that's NOT what the story is about, and it's not boring if you come in with no expectations of what this is about....
SEMI-SPOILER: [If you really want to watch it fresh don't read below]
I think most people expected this to be about a cat based on all the lead up to Seung Ho's 1st projects coming back from military service receiving so much reporting from the paparazzi and interest from his fanbase. It was mostly an unexpected choice from him. People probably expected him to act like Lee Joong Ki doing DotS and there was disappointment in that. Even though even Seung Ho eluded to his love of cats being a major reason to do this, I don't think that was the writer's intention or direction at all. I believe this was about how events can cause various mental illnesses and the things that the human minds does and invests in to heal themselves. He has some subtle mental/emotional issues and Na Woo and her relationship to animals is an integral part of him working through his issues. Without her, he has no need to move outside his home. Without pressure from the job and his best friend, he'd probably have been a recluse with that cat. His case wasn't so serious... and this is the exploration this show brought out. It wasn't even really supposed to be about a romance even. It was about how the cat, and it's relationship with various humans brought about a lot of emotional healing even in sorrow.
Having a pet isn't for the feint of heart. You get a decade, and if you're luck, you can try to get 15-16. Easier with cats than dogs since their life span is higher. But that means you're gonna go through some loss. There's just no way around it. Then after you go through that emotional pain you have to decide whether you're willing to cycle through it all over again. I'm 47, and have had animals all my life. My parents raced quarter horses, and at one point we had 11. In my youth, with my family, I had 1 cat, 3 dogs, & 6 different birds. When I got my own family, after my mom passed, I inherited 2 of the horses, and had gotten 2 cats of my own. Got my son a dog who ran away, and then 2 dogs after that. At this stage in my life, all the animals have had their beautiful lives and I've painfully had to let each of them go except for 1 dog who is by my side now. My children's friends have posed the question, "if anything happens to your dog, will you get another one?" ...and I've finally come to the end. My answer, "No." I've suffered enough loss in my life. I'm okay with knowing that certain individuals any animals will likely leave this planet before me, and I've accepted that inevitability for some point... but I have no more heart left to add to the #s. I cannot bear to lose more than I already have, and what I know I will in the future... and even THEN there are no guarantees.... Yes, loving... put yourself out there.... giving of yourself... and accepting love in return sometimes comes with pain. But the wonderful part about that is, mixed in with the pain, are the wonderful, beautiful memories that will never fade.
Manga or movie, sorry, but Shima is a little bitch. Dude, it's not like girls don't go through this kind of shit in the work place. Get over it already. I'm surprised they didn't show him with cut marks up his arm, he's so damn emo. Thankfully, Togawa is such a hard counter to him. He's my kinda guy with the straight up honest motto: To Thine Own Self Be True.
Some sites list this movie as "romance" but there's essentially none. This a tragic & depressing movie that seems like it wants to take its stab at "The Vow' but fails miserably on every front. I often wonder why 70% of non-comedy Japanese dramas are so fatalistic. The people in her life are deceiving her at varying degrees some with better motives than others. But to discover that she's not a likable person plus the lack of romance or feeling of "hope" makes it very dreary to watch.
Very respectfully done. Even if you're not into B-Love genre, the development of this relationship doesn't make you cringe. Actually, you end up rooting for them.
Oooo.... I started this and, well, it got old real fast. I really do hate to say this but Hawick Lau & Tiffany Tang had 0 chemistry imo. Hawick did his best to look cool and bad and sweet all wrapped into one, but it didn't overcome the lack of connection from his leading lady. I don't know if it's her character or her in particular, but I just wasn't buying their loveline much at all.
[FYI- before reading this comment, please note: I haven't finished the series so I haven't given it a rating.…
It's not that I don't like the characters. In fact, every character who is good who I should be liking, I do like for varying reasons. I think I did admit from the outset that, although I'm having a hard time getting into the show, I never once thought the acting was not quality. They are all good actors by Chinese Drama standards, 100%. So, it's not them per se, it truly is the pacing of the plot itself. I find myself being easily distracted and for how I've sat through and watched some really bad acted, jacked up plot line Taiwanese/Chinese movies/dramas, it truly surprised me. I honestly thought by this time I'd have been invested enough not to look around at other new stuff being posted, but it didn't happen that way. I tend to be able to marathon anything I can manage to stomach, no matter how crazy, if I can get through 8 episodes. I think my lack of interest investment in this show is truly inexplicable to me...
I appreciate all the input and, at least, the acknowledgment and understanding of why it was/is a struggle... but I'm sure I'm get back to it...
Who do you think she'll end up with in the end??? #TeamKanata
I'm glad we are in the same boat but watching the trailers, I didn't think it was really that obvious. lol... that's why I asked. I mean, I started by thinking I knew but then after watching it I was like, "why does she seem to have more chemistry with Chiaki, the older brother. Wasn't he her past boyfriend or crush? Anyway...I'm still #TeamKanata no mattr what. ;)
btw... How has anyone rated this drama at all? It's never even aired! *shake my freaking head* this is the kind of stuff that messes up the rating system for MDL. People should respect the rules on updating ratings for things.
