On Light beyond the Reed Feb 27, 2026
The difference between this drama and other CDramas that I think are really great is amazing. I have seen very few dramas that could even come close to how well this was filmed, how well all the actors played their characters and how they managed to make this a gut-wrenching drama while also making it uplifting. Few more thoughts in spoiler.

Major plots that are in novel but not in drama :-1. Between 2008 and 2018, Fan Jiancheng s'xual'y as'aulted nine…
Thank you for the details you gave that were in the novel, but not the drama. Some were minor, but I wish #9 had been in the movie like in the novel. I haven't read the novel, but when I watched that scene I was waiting for that to happen and was disappointed when nothing really came of it except that they supported him, which I was happy about.

and thank god it had a happy ending after the rollercoaster of emotions
I agree. After a few episodes I had to spoil myself about the ending and I'm glad I did. I don't think I could have handled it if I hadn't known that the criminal would finally be declared guilty.

one of the most real and hard cdrama that I’ve watched! extremely sad, frustrating, hoping heartbreaking, deep,…
Your words are the same thoughts I had. I was prepared for it to be difficult to watch, but I wasn't prepared for how hopeful and inspiring it also was. One of the best dramas I've watched in my few years watching CDramas.

yes he was sent to prison
Can you please put this in a spoiler? Some people don't like to be spoiled about the ending.

I loved her but she has been losing weight nonstop! and they keep bringing that up and she keeps saying the same…
I was kind of surprised that she responded playfully to the host who told her she needs to eat properly and not just drink water. It doesn't sound like she takes her health that seriously.

Yep skipping this one - 37kg - no thanks
That weight was for Marry My Husband and she really looked very thin. It doesn't say what weight she got down to for this drama but judging by the picture from the previous article she did look about as thin as in MMH. I can't imagine it's a good idea to be getting that thin over and over again. And I'd be pretty worried if I were hearing ringing in my ears.

Thanks for reading 💜 I'm watching it on the official platform: https://www.iq.com
Just wanted to add a little info for you as you mentioned the lack of KDramas on Iqiyi. Viki has a lot of KDramas, but Netflix seems to be the platform to subscribe to if that's what you like. It's pricey if you want to watch without ads, but not too bad if you don't mind ads.

Disney and Hulu also have a fair number of KDramas from what I can tell.

technically (and only technically) this is not a Chinese BL , it's produced by Singaporean company. it's also…
Thanks for your reply. I would feel the same way as you if it happens in the states. There doesn't seem to be any way to really be private anymore.

"So the govt doesnt really care about children, or abuse of children. It wants to monitor us."

Yes. The government has to keep its citizens in control!

What sites do you have to give personal data to access? Is it trying to prevent children from having access?

Thank you for the information. It's hard to understand some of the rules that China has.

You really touched her nerves, didn't you? It always surprises me when people dish it out the way she did, but can't take it when someone talks back to them. So strange.

Thanks for responding. I was wondering if the drama was filmed outside of China, but it says China on this page so wasn't sure what the deal was.

I'm confused, because I thought BL was banned in China. I read that actors who star in BL shows would never be allowed to act in China again. Is that not true? Or did they stop banning BL?

The lens, distance and angle of the camera can do all sorts of things, it doesn't just add weight. In addition,…
Those are interesting points. It's not like beauty standards for women aren't crazy in other countries , but from what I've read Korea seems to be even more extreme. Must be hard for women trying to meet these standards, especially those in the public eye.
