This article is not pointless. It states clearly trending on data being inaccurate due to a glitch which was shown,…
" Some on here are even mocking past cardboard looking sets and cheap looking sets."

I have to laugh at this comment because I have watched many dramas that had cheap sets, poor costumes (with few costume changes) that turned out to have great storylines and top-notch acting. OTOH the best stage sets/costumes won't make up for a poor story or poor acting and won't keep me interested enough to click on the next episode.

Normally when a serie is an explosive hit you feel it. Take for example "The Double" or "Blossom"…
Whatever it says about us the fact that ratings matter is all around us. There wouldn't need to be rating manipulation if they didn't matter (and this isn't the first time it's been talked about by any means). Ratings matter to directors, actors, investors, film companies. Everyone wants to get work and if your projects are consistently rated low you're going to have a harder time than someone whose work is highly rated.

It could all be a tempest in a teapot or it could be inflating a drama that otherwise would be rated mid. I don't know. But talking about it (and being informed) is not a bad thing from my point of view. I really want the actors/actresses and dramas I like to have earned their accolades fairly.

Not making any comment about how good Pursuit of Jade is (I haven't seen it yet so don't have an opinion), but to make a fair comparison we'd have to wait an equal amount of time from the ending of POJ to the time that has passed until now for Blossom and The Double and compare the scores not just here but across as many social media platforms as possible.

When I just looked at the scores for Blossom and The Double they both are showing 8.8 which is a very high score for MDL. (My personal opinion on both: I dropped Blossom and I loved The Double.)

At the end of the day for me the only thing that really matters is did I enjoy watching the drama. I've loved dramas that have really low scores and dropped dramas that rated high. I think we all want our favorite dramas to be praised and have high ratings, but I don't think there's a drama that exists that has 100% love, right?

I think the issue here is that it's quite biased. While yes, some C-netz complain - like they always do especially…
This is my view as well. And since this is not the first time a drama has been accussed of doctoring the data.

One thing I found really interesting is the information about buzz, memes and things like that. Apparently The Knockout had so many memes and videos and things like that all over social media in a way that this drama does not and that seems to be a factor in whether this is a bonafide hit. Have you seen that?

I wish I could understand Manadarin well enough to be able to read about the issue on Chinese social media like you!

This article is not saying the drama is not a huge success. It starts out which the record-breaking numbers. But if there's a controversy about the numbers, should that not be talked about?

If a statement the ML made has brought backlash, should that not be talked about?

If a drama is a success it should be able to withstand a critical view of its success. If it can then it's a success. If it can't then can it really be called a success?

The title of the article is "'Pursuit of Jade' hits new milestone amid C-netz criticism of WeTV for 'fabricating buzz'" It's about the controvery and criticism. It's been a trending topic on Chinese sites so it's going to give evidence of that (hashtags, which ChatGpt left out). One such: "Then, on March 9, #netizensreportpursuitofjadeforviewershipdatafraud climbed to the top of the trending charts."

The article is presenting evidence of this controversy. It's not saying whether the controversy is true or not.

I agree that there is bias in the paragraphs about the depictions of the characters in the drama, which is not straight reporting.

I'm disappointed that you replied to me with Chapgpt. I've made my comments based on my personal views. I wish that you had done the same.

I don't know that the article makes it seem like it's a general consensus, but if it's trending on Chinese social media then it's something that is being discussed.

And this is by far not the first time I've seen discussions about data fixing in the Chinese industry. A drama can be popular and still have things being done behind the scenes to skew results. The two are not mutually exclusive.

I don't know why people slam the writer of these articles. I find most of them informative and pretty much giving the facts, not opinions, of what's going on. Since this is a drama site articles relating to dramas make sense.

I don't read Chinese so I like being informed about what's trending in China. When I see an article like this I often research other sites to read more about it. I like being informed about issues regarding Chinese dramas since I watch a lot of them and I find it interesting.

Some may find these articles pointless/rude (especially if they are about one's favorite drama or actor) and they have a right to their opinions. I don't agree with attacks on the author, though, as they often are more aggressive and nasty than any claims they make about the writer of the articles. Ironic, no?

To all of you, Zhang Jingyi's haters often called her the "ASEAN Princess" to mock her and edit her photos…
At first I thought this was a ridiculous thing to be offended by (I thought the picture was adorable). Then I read some comments here and on other sites and learned a great deal about why this isn't just a little joke. I live in and grew up in the US so am no stranger to racism there, but I'm not as well educated in racism in other parts of the world so I'm thankful that people, like you, took the time to educate those of us who are ignorant.

Read Scarfie's comment. They are spot on. Unless you fully understand all Chinese culture, its history, the way…
I did actually come across some info on past things he's said that are not at all flattering to him. https://www.reddit.com/r/cdramasfans/comments/1rpxh01/comment/o9sfdgg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

I don't think saying he's only 28 is a good defense. That is a grown man. We are all still developing all our lives, but at 28 (not to mention having been in this business for a good number of years) he should have developed a better sense of what is acceptable and what is not, even if he privately keeps the same thoughts. He's in a PR business where reputation is everything.

I hope his apology is sincere since he seems to have a huge number of SEA fans and having read comments from them on his own Instagram account he's alienated quite a few and they are the ones who would have a better understanding of what/why he said what he did.

At first I also thought this was a minor thing. Then I read comments here and did further research on what it actually meant for him to say the drawing looked like someone from SEA because he was offended by it. I now understand why his remark is being called racist and why it actually isn't a minor thing.

Actually for people who don't grow up in Chinese culture, it's very difficult to understand the racism behind…
Thank you for your insight. Everything I've read about this issue today helps me understand why this is not a laughable incident or making a mountain out of a molehill. I'm glad for the education, especially from someone like yourself who has personal experience to back up their statements.
