It feels nice that you also liked his(ZLH) acting here❤️. He received criticism for his portrayal of Xie Wei. He was told that he made it "too scary" and he doubted himself and questioned if he really understood the character. He even apologized for that.

Try his other dramas then🤩Maiden Holmes(2020) was his debut drama.

Those guest roles of Sun Yi, Peng Xiao Ran and Yang Xu Wen in one frame🤩are such a delight for the eyes.

It's OK. Everyone has different preferences. I watched MLC, and it became one of my all-time favorite and I just added the Story of Kunning Palace to that list also.

I'm on rewatch and saw your comment. there are 2 endings to this drama. It's 48 + 2 episodes. Ep.49 ends on a happy ending thanks to her bracelet. Ep.50 ends on a sad one, in here he didn't see her like in the ending of ep.48, he just sat there and finally accepts that she is gone😭.

Ah yes. As for the HK version, I wasn't able to finish it as I do not like the way it's going and it's so makjang.

Other actors experienced this too. Joseph Zeng was criticized for acting with big eyes, Zhang Wang Yi was called out for not being handsome, even Yang Zi was told not pretty enough as FL in Lost You Forever. And just recently Liu Yuning received negative feedback that his looks are not male lead material. Sometimes people can be too harsh. I just hope those actors don't bow down to these haters.
