I don't hate him. It's his refusal to see things from different perspectives too. He wants others to behave and act like him. Given the different life experiences, that's not possible.
But then again, in ep 10 , their is a good change in his attitude. He did accept that he actually didn't understand DuanWu. Also he acted a little practical and made Cui sign that contract. He realizes that if he actually wants to convict Cui family, he has to use a bit of shady method. (It was obvious he had realised it was a ploy of YZJ)

Plus, he is actually quite selfless in helping DuanWu. But the only issue is he wants to shelter her and she doesn't want that.

He knows its difficult to prove things, but still sounds morally superior at times. To be honest, all the things he knows now is bcoz of YZJ leading him to it.
I agree with some things he tells DuanWu (like I was impressed when he stopped her from duping Ms Wu) but the issue is he doesn't realize that reality for her is different.

But yeah, this ep 10, he did accept that he didn't actually understood her and he sort of actually helped YZJ by getting Cui to sign the contract first. So I think he will be getting a little practical now, so I am looking forward to that too

And now Prince Tang has a statue for which he needs the pearl lotus tower. I am curious if its the same bcoz the statue was stolen. So Prince Tang not only took over the pearl farm, killed the Yans but is also keeping that statue with himself.

Yes.. And if you remember in one scene Lady Eight is referred to as Lady Yan (probably that scene where she is informed by her maid that Yan family has been killed. I don't recall the episode number)
So yes they were together, probably partners or owner-employee sort of and were going to the West for the business (statue) So they can be called from Yan clan but not family.

I am not sure which episode u have reached but u will notice even the servants of Cui family have Cui surname but they obviously aren't part of the family.
So FL and ML do belong to Yan clan but aren't siblings or blood related.

I agreed with him when he stopped DuanWu from deceiving Lady Wu bcoz he was right there.. Lying wouldn't get her anywhere in long term.
But now, its annoying. He lectures without empathizing with the situation

Also knowing the backstory of Cui Shi jiu, I still don't feel sympathy for her at this point. Bcoz she has really been evil.

Even if I consider that her hatred for DuanWu is a misunderstanding due to lies of Cui Jia about fire, I still can't forget her intro scene where she asked her servants to dock the ship even if it meant destroying the small boats and she actually caused the drowning of Shrimp and DuanWu in that scene! That was abuse of power simply!
She chose to be ruthless towards the helpless there and even now is willing to do anything and everything to get the approval of her father including killing Zhang Jinran 😐

But Yan Zijing plot was really good! And Duan Wu figured it out! The episode was thrilling

Till now, I haven't seen him walk the talk. He has the ledger which was handed to him on a platter (On his own, he would just have the ashes of those ledger -_-) but still the ledger has not been put to use. I am just afraid he is gonna lose it 🥲

DuanWu gave him a good reality check to some extent but I think it will take some time to knock some sense into him about how the things are in the real world (Hopefully!)
