Do they have a volume 8 in novels already? Is it under the whole “Restart”/Chong Qi series? But I read in the comments below that this one was the last novel.

The actor was, but he was playing a different role in the other series… in that series he was from the Wang family.

The last 3 episodes was a serious mess…. Wot the hell, ruined the whole series… why was the editing so horrendous for the ending. Like completely random scenes glued together… the whole series was so great and exciting until the end. Totally ruined my re-watching experience…. I forgot it was so random, probably the worst editing I’ve seen in dramas and it happened so randomly at the end of the drama.

Can anyone shed light on the actual novel? Apparently it’s incomplete.

Also just checked again…. It was actually subbed because they filmed it in the cinema. It’s still on gimy. Just Google the movie’s Chinese name.

Watched it on gimy. But I realised it’s actually pretty low definition…. You should prob wait a bit. It isn’t the worst but I think it’s recorded in a cinema and they edited it so it wasn’t obvious.

I watched it without subs, was amazing. Very unique storyline… and both the child and Zhu Yi Long have amazing acting capabilities…. And they have pretty good chemistry. Esp the child actress…

Love this…. Watched it twice I still find it amazing. It’s perfect. Only sad that it is kinda short. I want more!! Totally don’t understand why the ratings are so low. I find this on the same level as Reunion: Sound of Providence.

Am on repeat but still find some characters like NanGong PuShe superbly alluring and elegant… seriously the only complaint I have is the actress casted for Jiang Ni just doesn’t sit well… she can act etc…. Just she and the ML looks damn weird and I totally can’t tell she is a “fallen” princess…. She doesn’t need to be a beauty, but just the whole aura and room presence is like….. uhhhh very forceful… just wrong.

Wouldn’t consider them to be a lot, more than the novel… in the original novel it was superb little. So even in the drama it is noticeably less than other dramas because that is just how the original story is. And in a way it kinda makes sense because he is a pretty active General that goes to war etc. but they are really very sweet though, at least I think the main leads have very good chemistry… but that’s just me.

Yeap. It is a clear HE for the drama. For the novel it was kinda ambivalent. I personally think the novel has a lot of areas of improvement.

I’ve watched this for the n-th time…. it surprisingly is still perfect… didn’t think it was like a 10 when I watched it the first time but….. after the repeated rewatches… it’s really superbly close to perfect.

The emperor…. The actor who plays the emperor, his performance calls for a standing ovation… #notevenkidding. All the artiste even minor roles are amazing… and everything is so logical, even sub-plots… that is so rare….

Vengo Gao is super charming here…. Gosh his chemistry with Ma Yili is off the charts… they are so sexy tog! Love this series loads, for once the ending isn’t rushed and they wrapped it up nicely… unlike a lot of the other C-dramas.

Yea. Could be that because I just watched a scene in today’s episode and they showed a quick glimpse of a heart via the reflection of her glasses… and it look very real/high budget kinda production.
The censorship is weird then, because I think medical knowledge is beneficial for everyone… and seeing is learning…

Totally agree, think a lot of the feminism now is slightly misguided… most people esp a lot of females are like trying to be independent which is great but feminism doesn’t mean you should survive without a guy and only depend on yourself.
No gender is better than the other but both exist for different reasons and have different strengths and weaknesses. Hence they should not be striving the out-do men or replace them. It is more of both genders should have equal rights to excel in society and also to fall in love or make mistakes.

Totally agree, in that sense it was very poorly done…. American dramas are the gold standard then K-dramas for sure. I literally can’t see any of the patient’s organs.

Lol. I think it’s natural, it’s just repeated. It’s basically the repeated modern version of her character in Yanxi Palace. It’s nearly identical, just with a different backdrop/setting.

It ended… I’m so sad. Still think the ending is slightly rushed, could have done well with at least another 15-20 mins or so to wrap up all the various characters properly. Feels like something is missing, probably due to the editing. I.e wot happened to Zhong Xiu’s mother……
Actually the romantic relationships of the 3 sisters are pretty unique and all very cute in their own way, also kinda believable. Wonder if they modelled the characters based off Soong sisters albeit the different political views.
Wish there were more series like that, like the whole running a posh departmental store combined with a few other genres is very refreshing.. I can’t think of any other series which is similar ….
