Ah I see… lol, ok my rating still stands. It’s about 8.5-9… and you can gauge that against my relativity on my Watchlist.

It wasn’t a small gap although they were very compatible physically. She was like 8 yrs older than him, even I was surprised because honestly I didn’t notice it and I don’t think it’s a big deal. But because the absence of the skinship was too obvious so I went to check it out. The bird scene just totally confirmed it. 🤣🤣🤣

Ah, you didn’t watch this series? I thought you did, my bad. Oh… it was bad coz you can literally tell the production quality dropped towards the end esp the last Ep. So they just did everything so casually and it look like they didn’t care anymore. The most obvious was from the last fight scene… it was literally like a computer game, like Street Fighters… not even kidding… when at the start it was praised for having solid fight scenes.

Second point which most people hated was coz they did a whole melodrama thing towards the end, so it was more of a bittersweet ending…. And death of characters… when initially it started being quite comedic and filled with banters between the leads. I didn’t mind this actually as much as it was pretty dramatic.

No, I think it was the combination of both factors. Think when they were just shooting it Leo Wu just turned 21, or he hasn’t turned 21… something like that. Probably would have been totally glossed over if they BOTH weren’t such popular celebs with massive Weibo following…

Do you remember the ONLY kiss scene in the drama was when they overlaid it with a pair of birds….? 🤣🤣🤣 I thought that was veryyyy funny…. Kinda cute… lol, but it was mostly because of Leo Wu apparently and his age gap with Dilraba.

I didn’t count… lol, but I remembered there were….. 🤔 good point… I actually don’t recall if there were many or it was considered little… just remembered it was quite natural…. Or at least I didn’t notice they were missing… only one I remembered that was oddly lacking was The Long Ballad. 🤣

Ah same, I started watching around that time too, maybe 2020, though I’m unsure if Untamed was the first one. But I tried watching some from 2015, 2017 recently and I nearly died. I kinda forgot how bad they were until I was reminded. 🤣 so in relative terms no dubbing has irked me since 2019… I just know how bad it used to be…. I deemed it unwatchable then.

Yeap, already watched Miss S… was very good. Totally a normal drama with normal editing, no weirdness, well developed. Oh gosh and the wardrobe for Miss S was so good. So classy, posh and elegant. So very Great Gatsby. His chemistry with Ma Yili was off the charts! I didn’t watch/complete all of Vengo’s dramas though, I dropped the military one and I didn’t watch the doctor one… I’m interested in the doctor one actually because of how it was based on a true story but could never commit to watching it…. Probably because I feel it’s more suitable as a movie and not a drama.

I’m pretty sure…. The ans is no… 🤣 I’m not 100% sure though.

Yea, I noticed dubbing has improved tremendously, think they still keep it to pass multiple regulatory reviews… I used to reallllyyy hate it because I think it sounds so unnatural. So I never watched C-dramas.

I’m going to stop watching now and wait until it ends to binge. 38 episodes….. hurmmmm… lol, too much potential for it to go so wrong but I’m hopeful because someone on MDL read the novel and said it was really good. 🤓

Oh yea for sure, otherwise they wouldn’t have such stringent censorships… don’t think they’ve ever truly approved of the industry to begin with.

lol, dubbing… am glad at least this aspect has improved over the years…. I was watching some older dramas and noticed the lips and dubbing can be completely different for a few sentences at a time. 🤣 has to stop it, was just too bad.

So true. I just wish he had longer hair. This hairstyle is very military-ish… he had longer hair in his earlier modern dramas, or even his profile pic…. Think that would go well with a suit. 🤣

I think maybe there are trying to control ‘oligopoly’ between celebs… so that the chances are more evened out to everyone. Instead of having big dramas/productions just given to a few people in a year. Just my deduction coz most of Mainland policy is having no one dominate or monopolise any industry…. And narrowing gaps between extremes.

No idea. But I asked someone who read the novel in a different post and he/she said the novel was really good. So it gives me some hope that they have enough material for 38 episodes. Otherwise it will just be another editing and plot development gone wrong C-drama……

The first 6 episodes are good. The focus isn’t on romance yet. I watched the trailer and I felt it was sooooo romance focused that it was a bit much given the 38 episodes. No idea if it would develop oddly, but some other MDL members read the novel and apparently the novel is really good.

Haha, yea, I read some of the comments yesterday… to look at the pic with him in the mask. I think it’s better coz the ending in the novel was beyond sad honestly…. After I read it I felt so empty. Was like wth…. Sad ending is fine, but the words the author used and the way it was written was so…. Despondent…..?

Was kinda happy when I saw the picture, and I also thought the elaboration on what seems to be a revenge/comeback final 2 episodes to be VERY good. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The novel ending was so ironic… it ended at around episode 35….

It was the same in the novel, slightly worse actually. And I was actually really surprised after reading it because he died so suddenly…. I totally wasn’t expecting it. And the way he died was just so….. sad. The entire thing was so sadly written in the novel. It’s almost like she had nothing… everything was like a ‘dream’…. Coz in the novel she never even told him she loved him….. like she’s always loving the wrong person at the wrong time and had never…. Really had a real relationship. Everything came and went with the wind.., and in the end she ended up with nothing….. 😔 I think them not ending up together is fine, but the never having a real moment with CWD was just…… gosh. Beyond sad.

I don’t think he loved her at any point, not romantically…. I felt he was touched and didn’t mind reciprocating because there was no one else in the picture and she was aggressively pursuing him but it never was the romantic kinda love…. I mean he fancied her but like defo not a ‘heart skips a beat and I can’t live without you’ kind…Which I felt they kinda emulated in the drama as well…. Except the ending I spse. In the earlier bits of the drama he did say that he views her more as a family… like a sister….

Yes, so in the novel the child came from a drunken night…. Kinda was a mistake… hence why I think the guy just really feels responsible towards her and has all along viewed her as more of family…. I do think he fancied her at one point but I never thought it was love.

Nope. Was made explicitly clear towards the end…. He definitely took a liking to her and reciprocated because she was so straightforward with her feelings and openly chased after him…. So all along his ‘ideal’ type of partner has always been BFY kind.
I personally felt the novel made more sense because I think it kinda applies to both men and women generally…. Like a guy chasing after a girl and the girl falls for a guy who’s not her type…… not everyone will fall in love with the guy, think for girls the outcome is probably divided…. Even if they choose to get together with the guy… doesn’t necessarily mean it’s romantic kinda love. So I think it even more so applies to a guy given their nature.
