Yes, nirvana in fire was my early watching drama days, but is unforgettable until now, still watching it when I’m running out of dramas to watch lol. There’s nirvana in fire 2 also that one is also a very good one, if u r not into romantic chinese drama, n also joy of life is one of those very good ones to watch.
I seldom watch modern drama, but I would watch neo hou and zhao ye modern drama right away if there’s one, putting aside any period drama, lol

Oh right, word of honor is not xianxia. Nirvana in fire is a masterpiece also, one of my all time favourites. I like period settings more and so I juggle alot between xianxia and wuxia. Only when I cant find anymore good wuxia/xianxia drama I move to modern drama.

Indeed most are highly overrated like the untamed, ashes of love, love and redemption, word of honour, though I like zhang zhe han alot, I prefer watching legend of yunxi instead. It all goes back to personal taste afterall. Not saying those I mentioned above are bad, but for me they are just ok, good enough but not excellent enough to deserves such a high rating.

I also follow my favourite actors, unfortunately they dont guarantee every single drama they did would make me always liking it. At most I would only like 2-3 of their dramas only, I also like xukai, but I only like the legend and arsenal military academy for his drama. Zhao lu si is the most consistent ones for me, most of her dramas are really good, I like 5 of her dramas already. Yup try checking it on the youtube first to get the vibes. It always work for me, though sometimes it would give spoiler’s but I don’t mind, as long as I enjoy watching it, rather then wasting time blindly watching it bcause its highly rated.

Its nice sharing with u too, I also hope u can find the drama u enjoy watching, for me usually, I’d go to youtube see the trailers and some of the drama clips first then after I got the feeling I’d like it, then I will start watching it. U will know u will like it or not then. It would save your time from watching something u wont like.

I also dont hate xianxia, only few that I consider worth watching, bcause they are usually long episodes with heavy plot story n need time investment to completely watching it. I also not into Xiao Zhan, I even didnt find the untamed highly rated by everyone interesting to watch for me, I completed the watched it, no regret watching it but just not that special to me. Thats why I’m not keen on watching TLP right not, even now after finished watching BFTB. I hate it watching dramas without leading actors chemistry, I would have drop it ASAP not gonna try to waste my time no matter how highly rated the dramas are at MDL.

It seems we have similar taste afterall, but we r bound to have different opinions also. BFTB has token different routes from its usuall routes, instead of heavenly realms it introduced dark aura as part of its main story, maybe some viewers find it dark or disturbing thats why some ppl can to not like it. To each of their own, this drama plot, characters, acting, ost, productions, the ending are all perfect for me, its a complete package for me already, its rare honestly to be able to get that many aspects in one drama production. This drama works very very well for me already. Thank you for sharing your opinion also, there’s no right or wrong opinion here, its just a matter of every one taste, thats all.

U r right, xianxia is not my favourite genre also actually, I would usually only watch those which are recommended ones, so if I can like it is kudos to the production team, the actors especially for making it a superb n fantastic drama for me to watch. Many thanks to them for making me happy to be able to watch this drama.

Sorry I couldnt recommend another xianxia genre, since I currently love back from the brink so much, no other drama can surpass this drama in my mind atm, including love and redemption, ashes of love, the legends, love and destiny, even the untamed except ten miles peach blossom ( eternal love).

I havent watch the longest promise, because I have read some negative comments about it, because I also dont want to waste time watching dramas that I know I wouldnt like, I’d check MDL to make sure usually, but I started watching back from the brink without checking MDL and out of my expectation I like it alot. I have watched love better than Immortality n I also like it, one of my fave actually, my first xianxia was Eternal love (ten miles peach blossom) and it is masterpiece. If u dont like xianxia genre, I will recommend just simple wuxia/ period chinese drama such as love like galaxy, one and only ( SE though), who rules the world, the sleepless princess, legend of yunxi, legend of fuyao, including love better than Immortality are some of my favourite dramas.

Sorry I looked at your watched list, I can see this is your 1st time watching xianxia drama, n I understand why u couldnt follow the storyline, n almost all of the dramas u watched u dropped it anyway, clearly this is not your cup of tea drama, so you rate this drama as overated is not valid, sorry for saying this, I just dont want your comment to misslead others who want to watch it.

Yes I saw tht too, I also saw neo hu comforting zheo ye after she cried during one of her crying scene. He really genuinely cares for her, and those gazing and staring at each other interview ❤️

Exactly, this is what I mean too, proof of these can be seen in their BTS and interviews. Their chemistry on n off drama is mind blowing. They are so perfectly comfortable with each other, it feels like they can be real couple. After watching their BTS I love the drama even more.
