When I first watched this, I had only seen about a dozen dramas. I loved it and gave it a 9, docked half a point because I thought the second leads were rather boring and pointless.
It is now almost a decade later, I have seen almost 200 dramas, and I'm rewatching it: the second leads are SO MUCH WORSE THAN I REALIZED BACK THEN! Oh Soo Jin might be the single worst character out of all the dramas I have finished. I am shocked at how badly written she is, and almost just as shocked by how only half a dozen of the characters are even the slightest bit interesting.
All that said, Shin Min Ah and So Ji Sub are still just amazing here, it really is worth a watch just for them.

Shout out to Choi Dae Hoon being the best character in a show full of surprisingly great characters.

Rewatched this and it’s still amazing to me. Han mi still best girl.
I'm halfway through and the chemistry between Han Mi and the ML is sizzling, while the chemistry between the leads is.... I won't say it doesn't exist, but it pales in comparison.

Honestly, this is one of the most accurate reviews of this show, I wish it weren't hiding behind a spoiler tag. I still liked it and it's incredibly memorable. But yeah.
Real dang messy, confusing, and even infuriating at times. It's like the writer thought "Hey, you know how annoying it is in kdrama when the characters intentionally don't communicate for stupid and usually unrealistic reasons? How about, instead of avoiding that trope, we do it EVEN HARDER THAN ANYONE EVER???"
I'm still glad I watched this, though, for SHS and Kang Hoon and a decent handful of other truly bright spots. It was a different and intriguing drama in a lot of ways. (I think it also helped that the camera seems to have as big a crush on SHS as I do)
This guy had only two scenes in When Life Gives You Tangerines and he brought me to tears. When Geum Yeong sees him hawking toothpaste on the bus, the pain and shame you can see in his eyes felt so dang real. That's real acting talent. He had that one shot to really act his heart out and he nailed it.
