It appears that the inclusion of "brother" here means in terms of "P" not blood relation. Not sure what's going on there with the "sibling" tie tho. Stepsibling?
I'm not concerned though. In my experience, Halo Productions takes a while. Such as Lost in the Woods
On one hand, Ananda, Mew, and Halo Productions have a lot of international appeal.
However, movies have such a limited release potential. Film festivals and domestic theaters are the more guaranteed. Streaming, which would be needed for official and unofficial subtitles, is very hard to predict. And thai movies especially dont seem to get picked up by streaming, let alone international streaming.
the fact that it’s in the horror genre is 50/50. Thai horror is rather niche (though quite acclaimed), but fans of it are quite dedicated. So the genre alone feels like it has promising fansubbing potential at least, but that would probably take a while if we’re relying on that prospect alone.
so, yea, idk. A lot of variables. Though I do think that if we don’t get an official international release, we will get fansubs for it - though it will def be on a noticeable delay (no hate, i understand why).
Nothing from One31, but Earn seemed pretty confident a few months ago that it's going to release this year. So it might very well be that theyre just working on finishing up other projects first
The Hong Kong Asian Film Financing Forum (HAF), a key component of the HKIFF Industry Project Market, was held from March 17th to 19th, concurrently with the Hong Kong International Film & Television Exhibition. Work-in-Progress (WIP) is one of three categories within HAF, assisting film projects nearing the end of filming in seeking post-production funding, distributorships, and film festival partnerships. "Girlfriends" is one of the 15 films selected for WIP this year. Director Tracy Hsu and producer Jacqueline Liao, reuniting after their collaboration on "Bone Sister," along with Taiwanese producer Estela Chen, have collaborated on this multi-regional film project.
