That I agree. I read the book and watched the promotional trailers, but never watch upcoming episode teasers because I want to enjoy it as it plays out.

My take on that scene is that, Baogai felt lost, anxious, and uncertain of her future, so she was trying to find an anchor, someone to rely to at the moment. So, she unconsciously turned to Lan Xiang because she's reliable, steady, and kind.

It's meant to depict Lan Xiang gaining the acceptance of her peers, and how people gravitate towards her.

It's in one of those trailers. She even slapped him right on the spot as soon as the veil was lifted.

Our man pulled similarly ridiculous move in the book too. haha

That's the typical white lotus set up. I'm 100% expecting her to turn bananas. 😂

Because Zhao family wouldn't allow it. Those marriages are rarely about 2 ppl, but 2 families. If Zhao Xingtang could leave just like that, she would have left long ago already imo.

From this drama, I'm really getting the feeling I had whenever I watch Minglan. Kind of difficult to put it to words, but it's a state of mind where I just let myself go wherever the story takes me instead of expecting this and that. It feels peaceful despite the angsts.

I've come to love a lot of the side characters as well. I'm really hoping they make it to the end especially since this drama doesn't hesitate in killing off characters... 🙏
