The editor really needs to do a better job..I still remember the scene in which the FL went with gift to the wife…
Madam Mo celebrated General Mo's promotion. By social custom, she should have refrained because the promotion was at the cost of Zhao Ling, who was a close friend of General Mo. Though, she had her own reasons, her kids.
So, there was that tense atmosphere between them initially, mostly from Madam Mo's side. The scene you mentioned symbolized their reconciliation.
Wait isn't this official court robes? Will she be part of the court officials in the future? Damnhttps://x.com/qutehana/status/2089314313421168833?s=20
Looks like it, official robe and ceremonial headdress
I am not a fan of writing of these whole Military Arc. The salt arc until ep 10 was very well written. There's…
One of the reasons why I like this drama is that the characters make mistakes. It's tough to swallow if the characters we are rooting for aren't making perfect decisions, but that makes it more human.
The merits. The officials don't care that innocent lives were lost. They care that they falsified their supposed…
I'm sure you've seen or read something along this line before in cdrama and novels: "Merit offsets the crime." "To use one's merits to compensate for one's faults."
That's the case here. And it's historically accurate as well. People could mitigate their punishment by performing meritorious service, sacrificing one's rank, etc.
I am getting whiplashes watching the drama. How can the director and screenwriter mix up the characters so much?…
It happens with majority of adaptations, especially with ensemble stories because drama simply doesn't have enough space for all the characters. As long as the narrative holds up within the drama's story, it's fine for me.
Zhi Zhi (author of the novel) tends to write this kind of story. Blossom (another of her novel) adapation also removed like 50-60% of characters from the novel. Even some major characters in the novel were killed off in the drama because drama doesn't have space for those characters' stories.
Oh, they toned down FL's father a lot in the drama. Was just reading his parts the other day, and my god dude is truly a piece of work.

That's how I understood.

Ep 17, here I go!

Also, I totally didn't expect ZL to really off that guy. That was truly a surprise tbh.
A well written character imo.
