Chasing her all over? What does that mean? Judging by the preview he's the one yielding despite her being the…
The narrative is totally different though. In the novel, Manman doesn't even know Wei Shao was chasing her. She was on a trip back to Yanzhou, and then visited Boya on her return trip since it's along the way. Wei Shao simply traced her path and chased her because the river was about to freeze since they are entering the winter, and he was worried about her as once the river was frozen, they can't get back to Wei state for months.
I'm sure drama will use a similar narrative. It's not about Wei Shao chasing Manman across the country to grovel in front of Manman. It's gonna be something like both are looking out for each other in their own way and crossed path in the middle.
In the Novel, Did Wei Shao and His Cousin Wei Yan Fight in Sword Battle? Or They still brother cousin until the…
In the novel, Wei Yan was the son of a Xiongnu prince (it's a foreign border tribe. not Bianzhou like in the drama). Major events were the same as in the drama so far.
Wei Yan left Wei state for Xiongnu in the end. But, despite the Central Plains and Xiongnu being enemies, Wei Yan never harmed the Wei family for his bonds and gratitudes toward them.

Details were not given, but it was somewhat implied that her family was behind it. Basically, Su family were raising tools (their daughters) for political gain.

Her huadian was known to everyone as a birthmark (even to her brother), and tales of how it symbolizes good omen and she carries the fate of an Empress were fabricated. So, he was so shocked when she removed it.
I'm not sure which episode you are at, but the tone, vibe, and plot shifted already in the recent episodes.
It's predictable from the day 1 though. It's the same in both the drama and its source material, it's a cliche fes.
This story has always been a romance focused story first and foremost. If you want something more plot driven, this drama might not be for you imo. I don't think the remaining episodes will get better for you in that sense.
"Promise me to stop loving her from now on". How is this supposed to work? πππ
From our 3rd party point of view, that's totally true. π
But from Wei Shao's perspective, he's in the middle of the two things he cherished the most in his life, his brother, and his wife. So, he's feeling both angry and desperate. It's somewhat understandable for him to make such illogical statements.. And add his superb interpersonal skills to that. π
I loved his scenes so much! I'll have to rewatch it later like I did for the painting
Ikr! Also, in terms of nuances, Liu Dan Dan's Wei Yan far exceeds how this character was described in the novel. I was more emotionally connected with WY in the drama.
Wei Yan surely was the highlight of today's episodes. Liu Dan Dan really did this character justice. An apt performance for such a layered character. Brought out all the conflicts within his heart.

But, Ep31 sorta is the same as the novel again.

The same applies to Xiao Qiao also. The changes the drama team made were so tasteful so far. Really appreciate what they did with the adaptation.

Though, in the novel, it was like a 30 ft tall and 40-50 ft wide mountain top, which left Xiao Qiao totally speechless. xD
SInce we already know some stuffs won't definitely make it to the screen, my expectation for those were properly placed as well.
