Post production is usually one of the weakest points of a Cdrama but it can make or break a drama. With a drama like this that seems to have special effects and wants to go for a semi cinematic feel, post production will be crucial so it’s better for them to take their time of it and do a good job. The hype is already high and there will most likely be intermittent releases during special days keeping the hype up until it airs. It will probably explode again when the trailer is released.

If you love strong women, this drama is really perfect. There’s not really a single weak woman in the whole drama. They all have careers. The female lead is actually a police officer protecting the male lead. Here’s a fan video of her:

It’s a really fun spy catching show for 90% of the drama. It’s done so many rounds on Chinese TV stations, fans can’t keep 😂 As long as you don’t come into this drama thinking it’s an idol drama full of romantic scenes, it’s a pretty good ride with a lot of well played characters. And if you’re into PXR, Pang Hongmei is really great. She’s an absolute bad*as but still manages to be really charming and sometimes cute when she lets her guard down. She’s not one dimensional like these types of characters usually are.

The romantic development of this show is emotional rather than physical. The relationship focuses on them growing a healthy and communicative relationship from the fractious one they had in the beginning. This includes the male lead’s obsession with revenge and his closed off personality becoming more open and trusting as a result of the relationship. There’s also the show’s theme that love can’t be the only thing and no one can be everything to someone. With this in mind, no matter how much the leads like each other, they won’t stop their careers. The culmination of that this them getting back together when they’re both the best versions of themselves and have solidified their careers.

He got a bad rap but I actually think he’s okay as a rough general type character. It’s just the styling is pretty terrible. There’s a few other male characters too so the male lead isn’t the sole focus. I think the series is worth it for Jun Jiu Ling though. She’s pretty cool alone and her chemistry changes depending on the guy.
If this show isn’t your cup of tea, Goodbye My Princess may be. A warning though that it’s pretty sad but she’s amazing as Xiao Feng.

A decent amount although it’s not the main focus. They’re a very supportive couple though and the female lead likes to tease the hero a lot 😂

I liked it when it aired. The ML is quite good at comedy and I liked the supportive relationship dynamic. It’s by the same director as RoaTF but this show is more plot based and the main character is completely different from Jiman. Jun Jiu Ling is cool, calm, and capable. And PXR’s acting is quite good in this show too.

After spending a long time thinking about it, I’ve realised one of the reasons I like the character, Xiao Feng, so much is because she is so untamed. She dares to love, run, and play despite the limits of her abilities and position. The more I watch her, the less I want her to be “respectful”. In a world that still tells girls/women that they must be quiet, proper, and obedient to be respected; I find I like Xiao Feng because she is none of these qualities and remains this way until the very end. There’s a stubbornness and pride to her that not even three years living in hell can dull. It’s fascinating and what makes me watch the clips of this show over and over again; a kind of self-consistency that I find refreshing no matter how many times I watch it.

It’ll possibly have a milder form of it though I don’t know if it will make the cut. It will depend on how GJM unfolds the story tho I can’t say he’s good at subtle portrayal.
GJM’s type of bromance and male on male gaze is usually screaming from the mountain tops in terms of lens language.
