Someone give sis a new DP. She has had such nice ones out now
Check the 28042024 Reuters pics. I dunno how someone so delicate looking so perfectly pulls off handsome, boyish, and cute but she really ate the look and left not a single crumb. Even an ant would starve đ

Yes, I remember her saying that. I think it was while she was waiting for GBMP to air and couldnât find work. Thank goodness she stayed with it. I donât care about popularity but I hope she can access all the projects she likes from now on.

Yes! When she hosted on CCTV for one of the galas, I was so proud of her! I always think that sheâll probably go back to hosting at some point, probably when sheâs older.

They were really sleeping on her and this show but it seems like some are trying to capture her now. She doesnât seem fond of paparazzi but her aura has been off the charts in the last few Reuters. My sis is really killing it lately and I love to see it. Palace fight Queen, Warrior Queen, and Gentle Queen- All different feelings but each one is really scoring 100% each time she pops up.
This is my favorite Peng Xiao Ren drama. Pang Hong Mei is her strongest acting role.
I agree, mostly because if you look at her in real life or her previous roles, it doesnât seem like she can pull off a character like Pang Hongmei but she does. This role is completely different than previous roles and because it is a main theme drama, it has higher requirements for acting and sheâs playing opposite some very talented actors. This is probably one of the most talented casts sheâs played in besides ToDoI. Her role is really not easy either. She has to play this stiff, somewhat emotionless character at times in a show full of highly expressive characters also. Considering she didnât go to university for acting, Iâm impressed with how far sheâs come and the roles she takes on even though she hasnât had the opportunity to film as much as other actresses her age.
I will have to keep an eye on that drama. I thought they had the best teamwork in this drama, or any drama, to…
I really loved Meisheng while watching this drama. I low key suspect Chang Le Quâs showrunners were Meisheng fans and used their clout to invite themđ. They play an empress and emperor in Chang Le Qu and the dynamic seems interesting there too. He seems to be a love minded emperor (he looks quite cute) and she rules the court behind the scenes and eventually becomes the Empress Dowager. I donât know if they get much screen time but Iâm looking forward to it.
I agree with you. The drama is very interesting. Liu Xue Yi is great in it, as always, and I wanted an ending…
The show lost 2 episodes and I suspect some of what may have been cut was the romance. That said, the subtle romance storyline is really well done. I think it alone deserves a 10. The show title is basically referring to PHM and tells the story of how JDY met and fell in love with PHM. Itâs like the spy war version of How I Met Your Motherđ. Even PHMâs makeup seems to change over time to reflect this. In the beginning when he doesnât like her, PHMâs makeup is really fierce almost to the point of garish but as he gets to know her, she gets cuter or prettier depending on the situation. In most of the JDY is falling in love with PHM scenes, PHM is almost always super beautiful. And at the end, PHM still has that fierce look but now itâs cuter, has an endearing air.

Yes, I too think one of the beautiful aspects of this work is that most of the main characters are fully portrayed enough for the viewer to take on the different perspectives. I may not like all of the characters but there was at least a few moments within the show where I can understand their emotions or motivations even if I donât agree. For example, I donât care for LCY as a character but I understand his grief (I feel I cried harder than him đ). Itâs rare to find a Cdrama like this. Goodbye My Princess is a really good example of a successful character driven plot. Wish there was more like it.

The tragedy lies in the both of them if it comes from Godâs view. Itâs not really about the wrong role and who is fit for what because it could be argued that the tragedy lies in LCY being a suitable emperor but not a suitable husband in what is a âlove storyâ. Or that he too shirks his duties for love because had he been period correct ruthless, the tragedy would not have been strung out for 3 more years. Rather what is the flaw is that neither of them changes even when the game resets. LCY still chooses power and Xiao Feng still wants freedom/true love, and this is what causes their downfall. They are both essentially corruption arcs because they both believe âthe lieâ until itâs too late. And who viewers become frustrated with, because the brilliance of this show is that no character is âpureâ, often has to do with who they empathise with.
Like who you like and watch who you want to watch the show for, but the FML is definitely not dumb. Isnât she…
But she doesnât have zero observation skills. Thereâs the scene with her noticing something off about Zhao Sese while theyâre playing cards. And the examples mentioned before that show she does have observational skills. Sheâs just not a schemer so she wonât automatically jump to scheming. For the coin case, she has only observed. LCY escalated her into the situation to earn exploits for himself but didnât fully explain the situation making it dangerous. Itâs rookie stuff to know you either debrief someone fully before bringing them onboard or you safeguard against or for them if you donât. He didnât do either so things ended up like they did. Sheâs still relatively new to Li Chao at that point and has spent some of that time ill. And if she didnât understand her responsibilities, would she have married LCY? She clearly didnât want to but understood she had to and she did her best as 16/17 year old girl in a strange language and country pretty much alone, living with an abusive husband. She does begin to learn the ways of Li Chao otherwise how could she participate in planning the wedding with Dowager Empress? She wasnât brought up in that type of world so there will be a learning curve even if she is willing. And who didnât she protect? She protected Aâdu when it was obvious the teacher would punish Aâdu. She saves Aâduâs life. And she saves LCY. Nothing could be done about GJ because his own actions would have led to what happened regardless of what Xiao Feng said or did. And at the end, she protected Xizhou too but did it on her own terms and honoured her own sense pride robbed from her by LCY three years before because he had unrealistic ideas about love. His protection lives in his mouth only. If he was so smart, why is he taking relationship advice from someone who also canât protect women and has no problems sacrificing them. Shouldnât he have had the brains to see that the source wasnât competent? Xiao Feng was always going to be embroiled in complications. Everyone keeps focusing on her going out to play but should she have sat in the palace all day, depressed but demure? A lot of it is escape the miasma of the same complications LCY said he would have protected her from. If he had actually protected her from complicated matters, would things have ended the way they did? He really didnât protect anything because she was still hurt and he himself ended up hurting her for no reason other than possessiveness towards the end. If he was actually capable, not only would no one have attempted to harm her but he would have taught her the ropes. Instead he kept her in the dark due to his own vanity, dismissal of her, and desire to keep her âpureâ for his own enjoyment. Even the dowager empress tells him he should not underestimate Xiao Feng but itâs too late by then.
The show is fine, but the FL's character is just too dumb that it's frustrating. Even if she lost her memories…
Like who you like and watch who you want to watch the show for, but the FML is definitely not dumb. Isnât she the one who discovers the issue with the counterfeit coins in the first place? She also figured out the scam with the turtles at the festival. And outsmarted LCY at the gate to Xizhou. She just doesnât want to engage in the pettiness or evilness of court politics, and believes that she should have freedom. Dunno why this would bring contempt⊠It feels more noble than a prince who has to suck the blood of women from start to finish to get to the top. And what are these responsibilities that everyone keeps griping about? đ Being a vase? Being a doormat for a man who abuses her? Bearing children for a dude with several women? Whatâs so noble about that?đ Better sis lives her life as she wants because what did all those womanly virtues get the other female characters in the drama? Scammed, dead, and/or discarded. At least Xiao Feng does things on her terms and if it causes trouble to LCY, even better because heâs the one who put the both of them in that situation by being a love brain.
