This feels a lot like marketing under the red and black are red mentality. Though I doubt this is the final version, it’s still annoying because some people are taking it like gospel. I won’t lie. Some of the details sound really exciting but my concern with this move is that if the final version doesn’t live up to the expectations set, it will affect the show. A lot of what I’m seeing doesn’t look like it will make it past the review at all.

I’ve always thought it’s more of a tragedy than a love story too. And from what I’ve heard of edits over the years, more and more of the romantic/couple scenes have been cut which also affect things.

As I understand it, Serenade of Peaceful Joy is based off a book that actually had her character as the main character. Apparently the book is really sad.

I feel like she really just wants to film. Basically since February of last year she’s not stopped. It’s essentially been seamlessly into the group.

I would just wait and see on the script. It will probably be different from the book. The plot of the book is a mix of both though so if it’s written, well directed, and well produced, it will kind of have something for everyone- romance, court intrigue, and martial arts. Ling Cang Cang is a very interesting character and so far the makeup is really pretty so I can’t wait to see how Xiao Ran interprets her. She’s really a strong willed character for better or for worse- perfect for Xiao Ran’s natural sense of stubbornness. As for the love story, in the book it’s okay but I don’t know how it will be adapted for the screen. The drama synopsis seems to imply that the leads are not married yet while they’re married in the book so the drama will probably have a more in-depth backstory of how they met and fell in love compared to the book and their romantic/physical dynamics will probably be more chaste as well.

I ship one of the guest star pairings that’s nicknamed the mermaid group. The pairing is Miss Qi (Peng Xiao Ran) and Ran Yi (Riley Wang).

Die-hard mermaid group shipper here. They had me from the first Reuters. And the more Reuters I see the more I can’t wait😩

It was driving me crazy because the main video really did look weird but I know both look good in ancient costumes. Then every video seemed to have a different look so I couldn’t figure out what was going on. 😩 But this video looks good. It’s my favourite after the one where they’re going up the steps and Xiao Ran smiles. That video felt like a serious emperor and a kind empress.

After 10,000 years of searching, finally found a shot that showcased the true look levels of both leads. They are both gorgeous. Definitely have a sense of royalty about them🥹

I can rest now. 😂This was driving me up the wall. I don’t understand why all the marketing accounts used zoomed in shots when they’re known to distort faces😩 Plus don’t know what was going on with the air/sunlight that day but it looked so hazy and strangely coloured.
