about YCY acting....lets face it even if your good in acting but does not have a pretty face you will not have…
Actually it’s not her beauty supporting her for FL roles but her fan base as an idol. There are plenty of beauties who are not popular in C-ent (much to my lament) and plenty of plain girls doing really well. However, if her popularity can’t translate to support a drama, then there is the real possibility that there will be effects. It all depends on how investors/backers feel.
Yeah throw everyrhing on Female lead , typical behaviour from Oppas/ geges fan girls / boys. She is improved a…
This! The reason a show flutters has more than one factor. This show suffers from script and character setting problems as well as poor direction too. I hate when people blame the actresses/actors because many of the issues with shows fall on the director. What do these Cdrama directors get paid for!? And how come they always seem to escape the blame? The director should have been guiding YCY at S+ pay. She’s still newish to acting and needs guidance. And tbh, I stopped watching this show for the time being and it wasn’t because of YCY, but because of the poor direction. Edit to Add: And it is doubly gross to blame YCY for the show’s struggles because it’s mostly her fans protecting the show. Whenever I go looking at the comments on Weibo to see how it’s developing, it’s very rarely her fans complaining about it or publicly announcing they’re dropping it.
It depends on the angle. Douban matters to some extent because a good score can get ppl to watch which increases the play back volume but I think the key KPIs if a show has a low Douban score is the heat index, playback volume, and rankings if both leads want to keep getting S+ resources. I heard it’s still stuck at around the 8000s and the broadcast effect was S; those stats are the most worrying. For DYX this may be less of a problem since he’s willing to play 2nd and MLs with his acting skills aren’t usually willing to do so. He also gained fans and reached the 10 million fans mark. His problem would come in quality of drama for first billing roles because of poor word of mouth but his reputation seems to still be intact and he’s young and it looks like he has resources so there’s still time. YCY feels more precarious as she’s been playing the first billing. S+ as an S is basically losing money. Investors may be scared to give her an S+ in the future and Wang Yixu may not want to use her. Luckily she has Chongzi though with decent playback so hopefully her career won’t be affected too much either. I also think it doesn’t help to put all the blame on actresses like some have been doing. It’s not like she isn’t trying and I feel like she has little choice over which dramas she does being an idol. For a show to explode, passerby fans are needed too and if people see a continuous history of blaming actresses, it will put off current and future watchers of his shows.
Kinda random but I really like xiangyun’s eye make up. It’s so colourful and prettyyy
Her makeup artist is very good. They really paid attention to YCY’s facial features to highlight her beauty. A lot of makeup teams don’t do that anymore.
It must if it’s setting all this up. Hoping this show does well. So many ppl have pinned their hopes on it but it feels like it’s the unexpected ones that succeed.
Yes and no. The producer did run into popularity issues just as this was being shot and that could have affected investments. Now they’ve had a hit show and Xiao Ran has had her face shown more on TV so funding is possibly easier. It could also be that a platform hasn’t seemed to have bought it yet and maybe one just did based off results. I don’t mind if the promotion is good. If it’s to make sure the show has the proper funding to market, I’d prefer a delay.
Stills from Xiao Ran’s appearance on A Good Domestic Product. Catch her tonight at 10pm Beijing Standard Time on Hunan and Mango Satellite TV! https://m.weibo.cn/detail/4934230352331808
Looks like Thrush is finally opening for business! They’ve opened an official Weibo, Super Talk, and TikTok! Don’t know if this means the show is airing soon but at least fans should be getting materials.🎊
THIS SHOW IS A TRAGEDY. I don’t recommend coming to this drama unless you’re prepared to be sad (or angry) af. Tearjerker is literally one of the tags, lol. There’s a reason why this show is upheld as one of classics of BE and while its script is not perfect, it does effectively create a story where the tragedy is not only inevitable, but it makes sense; that’s not an easy feat. GBMP is not a simple story, a light-hearted story, a story with a stereotypical strong female lead, nor a story with a righteous, likeable male lead- if you need one, I suggest looking elsewhere. It is also not a sweet hearted romance either. GBMP is a story of “love” and hate - a dark, crawling tale of entanglement, power, and possession where two people who should never have met, did, and the results are devastating. With everything from the acting, to the costumes, to the music perfectly tailored to support a very brutal but gorgeous end, it’s no wonder that in China this show is often referred to as fishing for bits of sugar out of a pile of broken glass. The “sweet” in this story is ironic so bring your heart accordingly.
I just finished rewatching “Jun Jia Ling”, and realized is the same lead actress of GBMP. I wish some day…
The key to this story is to understand that it’s a tragedy with romantic elements but it’s not a romance. If you like Peng Xiao Ran, this show is definitely worth a watch if you can bear what happens to Xiao Feng because this show was her debut and besides To Our Dreamland of Ice and Snow, also a show where production cared enough to highlight her abilities. You don’t have to root for the ML or even like him- in the book he is the villain anyway but in the drama, due to various reasons behind the scenes, this female oriented story became a male oriented story and tries to make the ML more likeable. Ultimately it’s up to you if you watch it (it is a hard watch) but Xiao Feng is really a great character - her independent spirit despite all that happens to her at such a young age makes her one of my most beloved characters.
