I keep getting recommendations to watch this, and I can only watch the clips from the episodes, Totally agree…
I agree itâs a tragedy. I actually think it shouldnât be sold as a romance at all. I feel like if it had been sold as a tragedy, people wouldnât try to whitewash the male lead or the toxic relationship so much. And the show itself would also have a stronger basis as plot wise, it really doesnât show how Xiaofeng fell and stayed in love well.
Omg, she has so many project and many dramas that not yet release damn why not let her drama air?
I really wish they would clean up this listđ«Most of these are rumored projects. A lot of her shows aired in the last year. She only has two dramas (My Talented Neighbour and Thrush) and one movie (The Legend) left. Hopefully, she will shoot another show soon because it will be heartbreaking if she runs out of stock again.
The webcast really doesnât do this drama justice at all. The micro expressions are so good, natural, and delicate on TV. JiMan was so furious in Episode 11đ
Yooooooo,The TV version really does hit differently. I think they changed the filter or something for the TV edit.…
She does look better. I almost forgave Chen Minzheng for like 2 seconds. I feel like it must have something to do with how TVs display color. Itâs always had a license to be a TV show so I suspect they shot with those intentions and decided to ride out the negative comments. Itâs kinda amazing though because itâs like watching a completely different show sometimes. I heard ann Korean TV station is airing it on July 4th and even the Douban score is rising bit by bit.

The clips wonât give you enough context. The female lead is only 18 when the story end and in the drama, she is basically groomed by her teacher at 15/16 for the male lead so they could infiltrate the Danchi Camp. By the time she runs away, sheâs suffered at least a yearsâ worth of domestic abuse at the hands of the male lead, the murder of some of her closest people, on top of feeling isolated and homesick since she got to the Central Plains. A lot of people blame her for the latter events of the story but LCY was going to kill GJ anyway regardless of if he was GXW because he didnât listen to LCYâs orders. Also, she attempts to kill him on at least two occasions but sheâs not the personality type to do it-the core of her personality is kindness. Thatâs also why she kills herself, because itâs the only way to stop the war brewing between her home country and Central Plains (possibly exacerbated by her actions). Itâs clear she doesnât want to die but that thereâs no other way. This story isnât a â love filled with hate -toxic- narcissism-helplessness which makes girls fall in love with a domineering rich powerful cold-hearted gaslighting abusive man â (LCY isnât even that type of character and heâs definitely not that type of character when he first seduces Xiao Feng) but a story that shows the terrible realities of grooming and of ancient women and girls in Xiao Fengâs situation. Most of the women in this show are quite miserable tbh. They really donât have many options. Part of the problem with the narrative is that this show is based off a novel written from the heroineâs perspective, in which the male lead is the antagonist. The show tried to turn that antagonist male lead into the hero but it really doesnât work if trying to sell the show as romantic.
Censorship and theme though I donât think theyâre dead fish kisses. They also cut some kisses (The kiss under the tree was actually two successive kisses but cut into one) but even what is left is a gift. Some shows get all their kisses cut.
Very good actress, shame though that some of the pieces she is in are downright badly written. đ
Looking at her resource levels, her character choices arenât bad though. Theyâre all independent heroines, even Xiao Feng. Most of the problems she has are with (post) production. SJFY got edited to death so itâs a different storyline than what was originally written. GBMP and ToDoI are perfectly fine script wise. ToDoI even earned her a nomination. RoaTF as a script is fine too tbh with the exception of one or two scenes but itâs not to everyoneâs tastes. The lowest level would be Jun Jiu Ling but it also has a solid storyline and I suspect they changed the script from the one she was originally given.

It really is different. You can see more expressions is the big one and Xiao Ran looks less plain. Because the show came out with a TV license, I wondered if that is what is shot for and so it doesnât look the same on other devices. I noticed my iPad was different from my phone. Iâm not sure a link will work but I typed in the TV channels name in Chinese and chose the link that ended in live. You have to watch it in real-time though which is 730 Beijing Time.
Congrats to RoaTF for making it to the star!!!Fingers crossed the second broadcastâs ratings are also goodđđđ
Yooooooo, The TV version really does hit differently. I think they changed the filter or something for the TV edit. It feels different and you can see Xiao Ranâs beauty much better. Sheâs so prettyđ« Airing on Zhejiang Satellite TV at 7:30 BST everyday starting today.
Iâve always wondered if one of the reasons why Xiao Feng is so memorable is because her story is so heartbreaking.…
If I had been around, Iâd probably be in the comments arguing too. Itâs wild that so many people wonât acknowledge that this is an abusive relationship or that the true tragedy of GMP is that Xiao Feng is abused to the point that it pushes her to death. This show really canât be called anything but a tragedy. Thereâs been a renaissance on Weibo trying to whitewash LCY lately and I canât stand it. LCY may be a more three dimensional male character than Cdrama is used to/ more compelling but that doesnât mean heâs good. He can be complex and compelling without trying to make him or the relationship with Xiao Feng good. He was originally an antagonist and even though GMP weirdly tried to switch the story to a hero-centred one, it canât lose this essence.

The underdog energy of this show!! To hit the Top 10 in TV show ratings on its 2nd run đ€Ż
