I just saw a tweet about this on Twitter with the hashtags #LuiYuning and #PengXiaoran made me curious to come…
It will probably be changed for the drama but the book has a pretty toxic male lead and the relationship with the FML is very toxic as well. A lot of fans on both sides don’t seem to have positive opinions on the original book and given the current climate’s changing tastes, I’m not sure such an abusive story would do well anymore.

Just like there are many ways to be a woman, there are also many ways to be a savvy businesswoman. In real life, there are loud businesswomen, businesswomen with fears, and businesswomen who give in to a moment of nonsense - does this mean that these women aren’t capable?
Jiman may have moments of silliness but she’s also tenacious just like in the book. She spends the whole show building businesses. When one goes under, she starts again. She goes from selling bootleg portraits to developing goods quality enough to earn an imperial charter. Then, she starts from scratch all over again to once again deliver work that catches the imperial eye. How is that not savvy?
She supports her female friends into employment that validates them, gives them confidence, and allows them independence. She creates a social enterprise that not only brings a local village out of poverty but also cuts down on her costs, reduces threats, and allows her to ensure the quality of her ingredients. Under duress, she creates a sustainability campaign that allows her to achieve her goals.
Her medical knowledge saves Ning Yuxuan countless times. She also gathers intelligence for Ning Yuxuan. Her accounting skills help take down a big baddie in the show. Her quick thinking ends up saving multiple lives when a plan goes wrong. And in the end, it’s her direct confrontation with a baddie that leads to the unraveling of some of the biggest baddies in the show. How is this not helpful?
One of the nice things about RoaTF is that it respects the energy and effort Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan have put into their careers and doesn’t lose sight of this despite the romance. In fact, Ji Man and Ning Yuxuan are so busy with their respective careers, that many of their meetings are at breakfast, work, or dinner just like with real life busy working couples.
Linking back to the first paragraph, I don’t think drama Jiman having moments of loudness, weakness, or silliness negates her business acumen. We still get a capable female lead with personality but one sans the stereotypical female competition for a man and the “ I am an island” mentality, which is refreshing to me. I want more breadth and range in the idea of what a strong woman means. I’m all for strong female characters but impenetrable characters with no vulnerabilities or softness who get lost in house fighting bore me in the same way as cold, domineering male leads with no growth.

6.2/10 on Douban, better than many WeTV shows getting avg scores 4-5 (like the most recent Journey of Chong Zi)https://www.douban.com/search?q=%E6%98%A5%E9%97%BA%E6%A2%A6%E9%87%8C%E4%BA%BATHIS…
It’s a shame that the score went down. It opened at 6.6. Its grades are still good though considering how little it was advertised by Tencent. It ranked in the Top 5 on a few charts. Pretty sure I also saw it rank as an S+ broadcast although it was just an S.

Agree, the rumored casts for this drama keep changing. I feel like they are testing and looking for feedbacks.…
Same. The amount of walking this drama has done suggests it can’t get the casting it wanted or it can’t get anyone at all.
This drama seems to be peak abuse so it seems unlikely that Xiao Ran would take it unless a massive change was made or some better resources were exchanged. I saw the interview you mentioned too and her expression didn’t seem like she was interested in taking on another abuse drama at the time.
It feels more likely that this is a made up melon or some other show has contacted the two of them and the wires got crossed.

Started rewatching for the 3rd time with a friend yesterday and this is a show for for viewers who like mostly romance, don’t mind young characters and the immaturity that comes with youth, characters/character development over plot, a slower middle to develop characters/relationships, and the main plotline focusing on the emotional development of a young couple’s relationship.
The fast pace in the front is the setup of the characters. The middle slows down to focus properly on the characters, their relationships and their development. The end is fast again as it is the culmination of all the decisions and actions of the characters coming to a head.
The show has good details and foreshadowing and its delivery of Jiman’s true identity as a mystery is novel but it is not a plot driven drama. Coming into it thinking it is one will only lead to disappointment.

so this novel Drama is good for her??
The fact that no matter who they cast, the fans call it a rotten cake, means it’s probably not good. This is one of the few dramas where everything depends on the script because the content of the original story doesn’t seem like it would be popular. Viewers don’t want to see women being abused for the sake of abuse anymore. And the government is stricter about some things too. This show will have to be changed to pass the censorship review but if the script isn’t well written enough, then the show won’t do well either.
Makeup and shooting will also be important. The casting seems to be choosing white rabbit type actresses but according to some book fans, the heroine should have a tenacious, stubborn air but also be stunningly beautiful in order to convey the right atmosphere. Bai Tao and Li Muge shot Xiao Ran well because they understood the heroine is important to the story too. This director seems to have mostly shot hero dramas so I don’t know if he will know how to shoot and highlight the heroine well.
Lastly, it doesn’t seem like Xiao Ran would like this type of role because of the relationship. She talks often about social responsibility and I feel that she wants to take roles that can be good role models for younger viewers. Since Goodbye My Princess, she seems to have only chosen roles with either healthy relationships or where the heroine leaves if the hero is not treating her right. I can’t see her taking on a role where the heroine not only takes the abuse but then decides to live happily ever after with her abuser.

According to rumours the hero has changed but PXR is being floated again. This feels like dropping a rumour because…
This cake seems as bad as Spring Banquet. It’s just been walking all types of people.
On Kill Me Love Me Apr 28, 2023
According to rumours the hero has changed but PXR is being floated again. This feels like dropping a rumour because they want to cast her or trying to raise the show’s status rather than her fighting for it . Unless this script is massively changed like RoaTF or there’s some massive trade off in resources , I can’t see her agreeing to this character setting based on her interviews. If it hasn’t, I hope the heroine is one of the other actresses being floated. I’ll support her because no role is a waste but not even the director being the same director as the Untamed can make the original story appetising and a lot of passerby seem to have a negative view of it.

Ah! I’ve seen clips of that drama! Xiao Zhan’s Beitang Moran is often used in fan videos but that show is not my cup of tea unfortunately.

I think I’ve seen Oh! My Emperor. That’s the one with Zhang Tianai, right? She’s so beautiful that I watched her last drama with Xu Kai cheng without caring one bit about the plot😂 I even watched a bit of Snow Sword Stride for her. I wish she did more dramas.

Person Peng Xiao Ran
So happy more people are starting to recognise Jun Jiu Ling! When it first aired she got so much hate and ridicule…
Yes, she started very late for an actress because she used to be a host for IQIYI while doing small support roles until Fan Binbing recruited her to her company. Unfortunately some things happened and Xiao Ran lost FBB who was her biggest backer making it hard for her to get A-lister level dramas or to find work in general.
JJL was a low budget drama given to her when she was down but a lot expectation was placed on it because of her heroine debut as Xiao Feng in Goodbye My Princess. The makeup and shooting in GBMP had a more glamorous look so there was disappointment that JJL didn’t deliver at the same level. Some of that turned to ridicule and hate (A lot of comparison videos use GBMP to trash other dramas without caring about the life of the cast so I guess that’s where the hate comes from 😩)
Fortunately she stuck with it. She’s got two dramas and a movie left in stock but hopefully she’ll start filming a new role soon.

So happy more people are starting to recognise Jun Jiu Ling! When it first aired she got so much hate and ridicule but as Peng Xiao Ran says “Time will tell us everything, don't worry, take your time." and now things are getting better and better!
Her next drama with a heroine focus similar to Jun Jiu Ling should be Hua Mei.

Haha, yes, different tastes😊
I like all types of genres but I like deeper characters who undergo growth or transformation most. Jun Jiu Ling had a couple episodes deleted though so maybe the depth got deleted as well. But, I’m glad JJL is getting more and more positive feedback though. When it first aired there were a lot complaints about it just like with this show.

May I get your Attention Please!! So, I recently watched a hidden gem in the drama world...so dear historical…
I prefer this to Jun Jiu Ling. I like all Peng Xiao Ran dramas but Jun Jiu Ling has very little growth arc. She’s one of the lower ranked characters in PXR48 because of this. Ji Man feels a lot more flesh and blood than her. And, I like the message of this show a lot more. Plus, the shooting is a lot better in this show (sans the intentionally weird shots), the chemistry is heavier, and the styling of the leads is more compatible.

I read some comment ..and I am very sad to see that ..most of them need this show shorter not completly negative…
I’m also a student but I only watch a few dramas a year so I don’t have to prioritise I guess. From episode 20 is when the story seems to shift focus to the emotional aspect of Jinyumantang but I guess the viewer has to be into the emotional development of a romance to not think it’s dragging. I thought some of the best acting came in those episodes and emotional development takes time otherwise it won’t feel real. That’s also when the setup and foreshadowing starts to pay off. I’m really not sure how this show would look with half the episodes. There’s too much setup and detail…
But everyone is different and has their own tastes and not every show works for everyone.

Same ,I come to here and surprised 😭
Haha,
Yeah it’s really a surprise. It’s like there’s no good points to this show and it’s absolutely terrible, which isn’t true😭 Seems like the harshness is the norm on a lot of the romantic comedy Cdramas but it kinda ruins the mood of chasing dramas to see nothing but complaints on such a cute show😩

It’s really weird because a lot of the comments on Weibo says the plot isn’t procrastinating yet the main comment here is it’s repetitive. I wonder if that’s due to the rise of the short form drama. I noticed they’ve become really popular in recent years. And maybe that popularity affects how much people want to watch?
I’m a fan so the more episodes ,the merrier😂I wish there was a life after marriage episode.
