Honestly, thank goodness this show didn’t air on Youku otherwise it would have bombed. Youku doesn’t know how to market Xiao Ran other than to suck her blood with GMP and Xiao Feng which brings in a good chunk of the doomsday fans who ruin the word of mouth of her show. Tencent by not mentioning that show at all, took a gamble but it’s paid off because the swarms of naysayers were greatly reduced and it took away Youku’s blood bag advantage, allowing for a more objective look at the show. The Starry Love was S+ which is different from S. It was probably always going to have that level of publicity because the showrunners wanted a hit like Ashes of Love. It also was also keen on selling the chemistry of the leading pair any way it could whereas it feels like RoaTF is selling it but only within the show. There’s an age gap and selling chemistry can be dangerous for artists career so I can understand that the leads of RoaTF while happy to promote the show, don’t want to promote their pairing beyond a certain point. Both of them are still plagued by pairing fans of some of their earlier shows even though it’s been years. It could also be that the leads of RoaTF don’t have the schedule to do that sort of promotion. I know PXR’s schedule seems a bit full so it’s possible DYX is full too.

They want more marketing but tbh I’m not sure more marketing would push the show forward. It seems like it’s already #1 on the Tencent website in several different countries and it’s holding its own as a solo broadcast against dramas airing on multiple platforms so maybe Tencent doesn’t see the point, especially with its anti corruption campaigns causing financial repercussions. Its debut is too strange tho. Airing the same type of drama at the same time is rare, really rare. The actresses in both shows have also been said to look similar to each other too. There’s a feeling Tencent wanted the two shows to battle each other in order to increase the popularity. I think for overseas, Tencent probably didn’t realise both actors have a lot of international fans. It was so quiet on their international pages right up until it debuted. I can’t even find it to reserve it. I can’t complain to much about its predebut promotion tho. I still think the showrunners did a brilliant job because it kept the doomsday crowds away long enough to give the show a fighting chance.
I am watching bits of different episodes again. This is currently my fave show out of the 3 I am watching. One…
Haha, no I don’t work for them. I just like Xiao Ran and think she should have more presence so I follow marketing and fans posts on Weibo to get the information and post so others can see. Her shows seem to get a lot of bad word of mouth in the beginning so I always try to show how they’re actually performing to boost morale, boost data, or so they don’t get drowned out by critical comments.
I feel like it’s the reimagined history and costume elements keeping this drama from airing. That was already a big problem even before the big FBB scandal.
Through mango tv, hunan tv and mango tv joined together. Hunan for Tv and Mango will be the online platform
Does Mango advertise? I’ve seen quite a few dramas air on Mango but there never seems to be much hype or advanced notice. I’m interested though because it seems Mango does a lot of low budget but high quality dramas.
Xiao Ran just asked her fans what they would do if NSY came back. Wonder if this is foreshadowing 🧐or Xiao Ran punking fans since it’s April Fools Day😂I’ll never forget the time she told fans she was cutting her hair and they all showed up to the live broadcast the next day like🥲😩🫠😭.
You should definitely watch DYX in 'The Romance of Tiger and Rose'- I'm sure you'll absolutely love him in that.…
Memory recovery seems to be a gradual process and it was possible her brain was still recovering while at Ning Mansion. Plus she did recall a lot of memories but they were mostly skill based and used for subtle foreshadowing instead of the cliche of an event. After the reveal of Ji Man’s true identity, it is also possible that Ning Mansion was so different that it didn’t trigger any event memories. For now, I think the episode count is okay. There really hasn’t been much procrastination with the plot compared to other dramas and if the show shortened the journey of the leads getting together, it would have dampened one of the essential elements of the IP.
Does anybody who follows Weibo know what’s going with the GMP super talk? Seems like there is a lot of drama in it recently and some longtime members are leaving it, complaining about the atmosphere.
Calling all those getting cavities from the Jinyumantang sugar. Tencent just posted a most popular couples poll on their community page. If you’re a Jinyumantang stan, give Ning Yuxuan and Ji Man a boost in the polls with a vote on Tencent’s Community page: https://youtube.com/@TencentVideoOfficial

Yeah, It’s really weird tbh. It released some official stats when it opened and then went quiet. Even on YouTube , it’s not really promoting the show. There was the initial post and today there was a poll which was obviously carrying private goods. The only show they seem to promote is Royal Rumors. Perhaps the leads in RR are Tencent actors.

QQ Music is the biggest one, equivalent to ITunes. I’ve never used it though so I’m not sure if foreigners can access it. Boundless Galaxy is really gorgeous tho. That whole show was such a shame. It was so obvious that it had quality and then Youku destroyed it like that. I think unless the opportunity is really good, GMP will be the only drama Xiao Ram does like that. I don’t think she likes scripts that torture the heroine. She mentioned receiving a lot of scripts like that but I haven’t seen her in anything similar to GMP. People think she doesn’t pick good scripts because she doesn’t look like Xiao Feng in every show but I’ve noticed all of her heroines have been unique in their own way despite being played by the same person. And they’re all including Xiao Feng independent minded, strong willed girls which I love.
I wonder now why Jiman don't talk about Wenwan be married to ML, i mean she must talk with ML about this bitch,…
I think a convo is coming according to the trailers but it probably hasn’t happened yet because multiple marriages were normal at the time, she wasn’t interested in being married to Ning Yuxuan at the beginning, and as NSY, she is the principal wife. Being the principal wife puts her a level above Wen Wan. She gets the best of everything and her sons become heirs. I think with everything else going on, Ji man hadn’t thought about it but now after all these attempts, I can’t see her being idle.

SJFY! I liked it so much that I rewatched it everyday for weeks after it aired. Bai Lu was so cute and then elegant and beautiful. And after the pain of GMP, it was nice to see a face as beautiful as Xiao Feng being treated well. I swear I’ve watched the scene where the emperor wakes up and touches Bai Lu’s face 100 times.🤣I’m still pissed the showrunners cut all of her growth arc and all of the romance. I think the album would be on a Chinese streaming/music app. It’s rare to actually get songs overseas it seems.
