I like how the show has subtly said she doesn’t need to rely on him at all. Completely shifts the power dynamics and now if she gets with the lead, there’s a feeling it’s really because she wants to.

I’m glad she’s finally getting recognition. I hope it gives her access to the dramas she likes. Her fans are too lazy to do data, beg for shows, argue with yxh, or brag about her so she seems artificially unpopular. With this show we can see there’s a lot of passerby fans. Considering that they did little marketing compared to other shows (couldn’t even find the show on Tencent a few weeks ago) and are still in the Top 5 battling it out with multi platform broadcasts, it’s no wonder DataWin commended her.

It’s in the middle part of the story but a lot of the earlier set-up is starting to kick into gear and a lot of the questions people were asking in the front are starting to get answered now. Same with the details. The big mystery of NSY hasn’t been solved yet but I think that will come in the latter third of the story. Episode 15 and 16 were really good, the best episodes so far in almost every way. And it looks like the sugar is going ramp up now that the couple have feelings for each other and this director doesn’t skimp.
I’m actually surprised by how much Tencent allows concerning this show. Youku would have cut so many scenes.

Don’t sleep on the plot of this drama because it’s a simple light comedy with a few logic blips-it’s really full of details. I went to rewatch the beginning of the drama and saw the scene when Jiman kidnaps NYX’s horse and at the end of the note she says she’ll kill the horse and eat it. Then, there’s a later scene with NYX’s two friends telling him anything that happens in his household eventually leaks out to the general public., which occurs after his two friends discussing a distorted version of the paddling event. Later on when Ling tries to slander Ji Man, he uses the rumor of her killing horses and eating the meat.
Jiman plays like it comes out of nowhere but it actually has a clear connection to earlier events in the plot.

I have feeling this is a change made by the director. Other parts of the script Ji Man is quite logical except for this part which basically makes NYX seem heroic every time. I heard a lot of the changes made in JJL that people disliked were his doing too.
The first I don’t think was too big a deal because by all rights the story suggested the coast was clear and it’s not like she actually ran to him. She made it a few steps before a supposedly dead assassin caught her. The second time though it should have been that the fight came to her. That would have been way more emotional.

Oh, I don’t use Tumblr and can’t seem to access that page. In terms of differences the biggest difference between the book and the drama is the drama beautified LCY and gave XF’s ending more meaning than she had in the book.
I would skip the main book and read the side stories. With the exception of Sese’s side story, they’re less cruel. Watching the drama, its script was more than likely based on the side stories otherwise LCY would be completely flat.

I don’t think there’s an English language one but there are plenty in Chinese. To this day, there are still debates about the drama that get quite a few comments.
For the novel, it’s much crueler than the drama because it’s from Xiao Feng’s perspective but the side stories aren’t. If you can’t stand the main story, the side stories are quite poignant. I think the one thing that will be missed by not reading the book is understanding how and why Xiaofeng fell for Gu Xiao Wu. The Xizhou period is much sweeter in the book.

Weibo has been basically posting Xiao Feng videos every day since the show aired. It’s tragic😑

He’s been looking for NSY since episode 9. Like an earlier poster mentioned, he’s not in the area where she fell so things are probably slower. To add to that in todays episode, we learn that Jiman could get in trouble if the court realises she’s not NSY so the investigation probably also needs to be very careful.

The plot is pretty good but it is all in the details- it takes a lot of paying attention to catch the foreshadowing.

Woa!!!!! 😮😮What if she was there as a plant from the beginning!? That it was all a setup from Ling for NYX to find her there in that state….that would be wild.

For some reason they don’t do it for PXR. Her list is filled with dramas she hasn’t filmed. If that is their drama, they haven’t shot it yet.

I think it’s difficult for foreigners to get a Weibo account. If you use the Google app on your phone, you can access Weibo and it will translate for you and you won’t need an account if you’re just reading stuff.
