I didn’t bother reading the comments below but I am enjoying it tooI actually dropped the other Seven Tan romance…
I’m really enjoying this show too! It’s my treat after a long day at work. I was going to watch this show anyway but it’s the only drama I’ve watched this year and possibly the only show I will watch this year.
The show made #3 on Yunhe! Yesterday it was #1 on Maoyan again! And, I believe the show was #1 on V-linkage and…
Haha, I might sound like a broken record but if you like the show, give it a like, view or comment on YouTube or Viki if you can. I’ve heard foreign audiences are counted in Maoyan and the better stats the show has, the better resources both actors will be able to grab in the future. This can mean better production companies, scripts, endorsements, and/or teams
Oh i m the opposite tho. I enjoy PXR acting both in Goodbye My Princess and here. it's just the story plot (and…
I like PXR in both too. It’s different styles of acting I think. GMP is serious acting while this is over the top comedy acting. I like Ryan Ding too. I think for all the complaints on this page, there’s very few young actors who could pull this show off with this director. I don’t know how to describe Xie Ze, he’ll take like 5 pts off of any talent or beauty. Just look at the opening scene😩. It was so beautiful in the marketing edit. The scene would have joined the conferred god ranks if they had just left it alone.
i was holding myself from commenting on ongoing dramas that I really want to succeed plotwise/storywise/ratings-wise.…
I haven’t watched Starry Love but I guess the difference is that NSY is not designed to be likeable in the beginning tho. It’s a redemption/wife chasing story. He’s supposed to change his “evil” ways to win Jiman over. In the book this takes nearly the entire story. Jiman really doesn’t give him the time of day until the end. There’s also the fact that in the book NSY is basically the vicious villainous female 2nd and that contributes a lot to his earlier behaviour towards her. The drama toned things down but kept some elements of the book I guess. NSY’s suicide seemed to happen at a chaotic time. You see him try to go after her but he gets distracted by an assassin and then all he’ll breaks loose. I think he wanted to bring her back explain things/investigate what happened but there was a plan in place that he couldn’t say in broad daylight. I think before that he never thought she would do what she did because he took for granted her devotion to him. As for the marriage, the show says it’s an imperial decree. They need the emperor’s approval and tbh it seems like there’s more to it than that. When Jiman tells her father who dotes on her she wants a divorce, he basically shoos her away. I don’t know what the show will do for NYX’s redemption but in the book he undergoes a massive change and is leagues different from the start.
I guess I'm in the minority, I'm really enjoying this drama and eagerly waiting for each new episode. It's interesting…
I like the show too! Not sure what all the hate is about either but I guess it’s not a PXR drama unless a mass of people come to ruin its word of mouth😂. I think it’s a funny and cute show. There have been so many scenes where I thought I was going to die laughing.
For the mansion thing, I think the ghost money everywhere on the ground is what freaking her out. She prob doesn’t…
Thank you for being kind. Sometimes when I think I’m having a discussion on this site, the other party gets angry with me so thank you. I also think they’re a cute pair! I feel like Xie Ze’s lens dampens it but whoever is shooting the tidbits keeps capturing them 100%. They just visually look so good together. Like I know PXR is in her 30s and DYX in his 20s but in the tidbits and certain shots of the show they really look like a young couple learning to be together and it’s so cute lol. I saw a tidbit for RR but the styling and trailer put me off strangely enough. I might give it a try tho.
actually, Peng Xiaoran is the one doing the over-acting. at least she's not underacting but right now, yeah, she's…
Could be overcompensating for the filter effect. This is the same Director as for Jun Jiu Ling and I don’t know what kind of devil filter he used but I’ve never seen a filter wipeout expressions like that filter did.

Oh, I wasn’t criticising you. I thought you had really valid points and just posted to discuss. Sorry if it seems like criticism. Tone doesn’t always translate on the internet well. I haven’t watched Royal Rumors so I don’t know the setup but I guess what I was trying to say was probably not to expect tons on logic with this show. I would believe in Xiao Ran though if you still feel like watching. She doesn’t really take on characters with no growth. I think they’ll probably have them be partners and what they’re trying to do now is tame down the fierceness/resistance to NYX.

I agree about the ghost money thing. If a viewer is not aware of the cultural elements, then they wouldn’t realise they’ve walked into the equivalent of a spooky haunted house and her reaction is to “ghosts/corpses” not the dirtiness because once the situation is revealed, she cleans up the place for a bead without a problem. About the assassin part, it probably would have been cooler to do it the way you described but the show’s way is not a complete wash. The assassin had been laying on the ground for a long time right in front of the guards, the perimeter had supposedly been checked, and Jiman only got a few yards outside of wood house. For a sneak attack to work the guards would still have to be distracted and that would still require Jiman’s involvement because they’ve been told to exclusively protect her. Otherwise they’re going to have too much time to notice the assassin moving for the assail to sneak attack. In reality the scene would need an ambush but even that might not work because how would they signal to the other assassins without alerting Ning’s guards? Seems like the scene was setup for the next scenes serving the dual purposes of juxtaposition and backstory. Viewers see the changes in both pair’s behaviour (They’re legitimately worried about each other, enough to put themselves in danger) and learn why Ning Yuxuan didn’t put his sword down the first time and what it means for him to put it down now. For the scholars, it looks like they actually cut the scene that might have given explanation for more comedic effect. She’s running out the building dressed as a dude running after the scholar if I remember right so it looks like she was trying to do something. It seems like Jiman’s character is setup to be a mix of silly and smart in this drama. She’s really good at business and making money and can handle some situations but basically has to learn trial by error the rest. In the book she makes some pretty ugly mistakes and it’s because she’s from the modern era, in this show it seems be a mix of what you mentioned, the amnesia and a pampered lifestyle not used to danger. I understand some of the points viewers are making but it feels like many outside of China don’t understand this show is a light comedy, the equivalent of a cheap soap opera. I think because the leads are good actors, there’s this expectation for braininess and depth but this show is like Jun Jiu Ling, it is set to be the equivalent of a fast food meal and to be watched without really using the brain.
If you like Xiao Ran, this drama is pretty great if her styling doesn’t bother you. It’s so funny. I love…
Same! She’s the only person in C-ent I seriously follow and she’s the only C-entertainer who I follow all her work. I think she’s underrated too. She’s super inspirational. She changed careers. She fought to stay in the industry even though her backing collapsed. She’s beautiful, can act, and can actually dub her own lines well. She just needs more opportunities that hopefully she’ll get if this show does well.
I was thinking the same when I saw that scene. Role reversal! 😂 I absolutely love that she's openly accepting…
Haha yeah. I saw some Cnetizens saying this show is GB (girl/boy) instead of BG (boy/girl). May if it keeps this dynamic maybe it’ll become the light of GB😂 I think it works because DYX has a kinda catlike appearance and demeanour in the show. He’s basically an angry kitten, especially the medicine scene when tells Ji Man to “F off”😂 If you watch anime, he could play Kyo from Fruits Basket no problem. And if you follow PXR, you’ll know she’s a notorious cat lady. That’s probably why they work so well, it’s like a match made in heaven.
The pace and the story are really good, and yet it is difficult to watch because Peng Xiao Ran has had too much…
This show is really bringing out the haters from all corners🫠Botox would paralyse her features which have remained the same since she was young. If she had as much surgery as naysayers accuse her of, she wouldn’t be able to do the range of expressions that she’s famous for.
