It has to do with accents, dialects, time period of the drama and/or schedule of the actor. Oftentimes dubbing is easier.

Thank goodness this show aired on Tencent. Youku would have just cut this scene. I don’t even think we have gotten the dance let alone a kiss on the bed.
I think the difference with this one is Jiman really feels independent and a little strong and has a big personality whereas Jun Jiu Ling didn’t have much personality outside of gentleness and Xiao Feng, and Li Binghe have personality and are independent but don’t seem as strong and/or put up with an abusive partner. Bai Lu was too butchered by editing.
She’s known for being one of the ceilings of the silly white sweet types but I hope she can get much deeper roles/more varied roles now that she’s aired a few shows.

SJFY’s producers really did PXR dirty in that show by cut her character down to nothing. If you end up wanting to see more of her, any of her other dramas are good tho. However, GMP is like a ticket to a lifetime of grief😂.
Thanks for the recs. I’ll check them out during my next drama shortage. I,m really starting to like his face and there’s so few young actors with acting skills AND machismo nowadays that I want to give some of his other stuff a look.

Haha, it was embarrassing at first but she’s so beautiful while dancing, I don’t know how Ning Yuxuan’s heart stayed cold😂. I watched some slo-no videos later and PXR’s expressions are really exquisite, like out of a manga.
I LOVED the scene when Ning Yuxuan put her hands up to her ears and told her to ignore the haters. I almost died from the cuteness. It buried me one level deeper into the Jinyumantang pit. I feel like because they’re both good actors, they can pull off some scenes that would be outrageous on others.
Do you have any recommendations for Ryan Ding dramas outside of Romance of a Tiger and Rose? I want to see some of his other stuff now.

I feel like they did the camera movements like that on purpose to draw “bad attention” to the show which is a really cheap and easy way to do marketing in C-ent. Before the drama aired, they released clips and gifs with those scenes cut so showrunners seem know that they weren’t necessary.

Two days into airing and the show hit #1 on Vlinkage (not sure the category but a win is a win!)🎊🎊🎊. Hopefully, it keeps up this momentum!

It’s simple but cute and PXR is pretty enough to hold it. In the book, Jiman starts off pretty plainly dressed so it’s accurate.

I’m really glad it’s doing so well so far. These too seem so gentle and nice in real life that they deserve another hit drama. I’m not sure why people are coming to step on it two days into airing, especially when the show mentioned bombed in the TV ratings arena more times than a tribute drama despite being a xianxia (one of the easiest ways to explode in TV ratings because they’re so rare to air on TV). I think it’s doing better since Youku classified it as a hit but in the beginning, it did so poorly, one of the TV stations airing it was unhappy.

For me too. I like her in anything really. My favourite picture of hers is actually barefaced Qi Muge. I actually think she looks super pretty in this, back to before GMP in some shots.

And the crying scene with her hair in a bun was too cute. If I was Ning Yuxuan I’d have been fighting some scholars that night.😩

It’s also at like 23000 on Tencent and the opening scene yesterday made the hot search. Both leads are gaining fans. The most important thing though is that a lot of blogs gave the first six episodes good word of mouth.

I’ve only watched up to episode 6 but it’s surprisingly good. It’s lighthearted and the type of show that makes you smile the whole time.

Plot wise neither show is profound. Acting, they’re pretty much on the same level. Same goes for weird directors so this show could rate higher. It’s already a dark horse, it debuted at #1 on Maoyan, and its word of mouth is not bad for now.

If you like Xiao Ran, this drama is pretty great if her styling doesn’t bother you. It’s so funny. I love watching Jiman rant😂
