I’ve always wondered if one of the reasons why Xiao Feng is so memorable is because her story is so heartbreaking.…
Xiaofeng kills herself to escape LCY. This is true in the book and true in the drama. And tbh, I don’t think drama Xiao Feng really wanted to die but that LCY basically drove her to it. And her body is not returned in the book. LCY doesn’t even visit her grave because he can’t face reality. In the drama, it’s not his grace either. Xiao Feng’s brother pushes him away.
If Ning Yu thought Ji Man was Leader Guihai's wife, it would have been funnier 😁 but immediately guessed correctly…
Yeah, I feel like a scene went missing about him finding out because he looked really upset at Gui Bain’s suggestion and then nothing happened. There must have been cuts cause there’s photos of PXR in drag with a handlebar moustache but I didn’t see it in the show. I originally didn’t have much hope in the script but I think it may actually be smarter than expected. There’s been some really good methods for revealing information and delivering exposition. There’s also a lot of questions and a lot of potential for things to explode. I also thought this episode was really cool, like a proper plot orientated drama.
Dang, A whole bunch of plot hit in today’s episodes. Loved how Jiman and Ning Yuxuan are helping each other reach their goals in their own way, slowly becoming power couple material.

GXW is LCY. I still maintain LCY does not love Xiao Feng but wants to possess her. The other women he treated badly just proves he sees people as objects. Xiaofeng might be his most prized object but she’s still an object. I also don’t really rate LCY’s jumping with Xiaofeng as an act of love either. Xiao Feng was doing the right thing according to her morals and LCY still wanting her despite betraying her, messes with it a prolongs everything, dragging Xiao Feng into an even more painful 3 years in the East Palace where she doesn’t feel even a 1/10th of the love she received in Xizhou.
I also read it is an originally S but is upgraded to S+. Yeah. It went down to #2 on Maoyan. Hope they do some…
I think the drama beating it is a Tan Songyun drama so it might difficult to go back to number one while it airs (unless Nie Sangyu shows up alive and well again😂). TSY has really good popularity. But to debut at #1 on Maoyan and stay there for 3 days with so little hype and build up compared to other S+ dramas, is amazing. Getting upgraded to S+ while airing is also good in a way cause it means that the show pulled in more money after airing and the S+ ranking will boost their drama scores. I hope they at least do a building sweep although they would be great on a variety show too.
I’m a book fan and a drama fan. I like the changes made in the drama.I think if the drama stayed the same as…
Novel LCY is like another league. He’s still complicated like all the characters of GMP are but there’s nothing to redeem him in the book, not even a morsel.
I’m a little excited for all the emotional scenes😅 Xiao Ran has never had a young male partner who can cry…
I only watched one episode of that show so I don’t know but a new casting combination is a chance to see a new dynamic so I’m excited for the pair in this show.

It’s probably due to censorship and making the role palatable that they made changes too. I’m not sure about the other male leads listed but Goodbye My Princess’s LCY is different from the novel too. They had to beautify his character. I remember hearing a rumor that casting him was difficult.
Kinda miss cdramas like TU, LBFAD and L&P but I will try to follow this til the end
High budget dramas probably won’t play until the summer vacation when they can get the most viewers. Everything else will either be warm up or cannon fodder. This drama is cannon fodder that’s turned into a dark horse but if the drama isn’t working, there’s no need to chase it. Drama chasing should be fun.
Just realized in episode 11, FL's voice was apparently Bu YinLo's voice in Unchained Love, this is the shortcoming…
I’m a little excited for all the emotional scenes😅 Xiao Ran has never had a young male partner who can cry well before so I’m looking forward to Ryan Ding who has performed well in all other aspects.
While waiting for the new episode, I went to read the novel. The novel is really upside down from the drama adaption.…
I’m a book fan and a drama fan. I like the changes made in the drama.I think if the drama stayed the same as the novel, this drama wouldn’t do as well. On Weibo a lot of people were disgusted by it and the novel male lead seem to be scolded a lot. The drama version of Ning Yuxuan is a kitten compared to the novel and he’s still getting scolded. I can’t imagine what would happen if they had gone for novel version. The character would probably get scolded to death.
The production quality is amazing. It's been a longtime since I've seen a non fantasy historical that looks expensive…
The setting is gorgeous, really one of the most beautiful sets I’ve ever seen. including xianxia settings too. I agree with the styling choices because they fit the book, but if they were as extravagant as the settings, I doubt we’d hear peep of complaint about this drama because you can tell money went into it.
It’s climbed up to #4 on Yunhe for 03/24! It’s broadcasting as a S+ which is a surprise but good because I’m pretty sure the show was an S (unless they upgraded it). If it is an S broadcasting at an S+ level, this is fantastic for the actors and might give them access to bigger budget dramas. Unfortunately it lost its #1 on Maoyan but I think it’s still Top 3.
Lol the original story is a modern girl transmigrates into an ancient romance novel.
I didn’t do anything but read the novel when I started it. It really had me hooked with all the madness that went on in it. Ji Man gave me the impression that she was a mix of Xiao Feng and Jun Jiu Ling and that PXR would be great as her and I haven’t been disappointed. I think I actually like the drama better. It’s much more friendly to women.
I am surprised to see my girl PXR lost such a significant weight...I miss the chubby PXR who looks healthy and…
I love chubby Xiao Ran too. I’m a bit sad to thinkSJFY and MTN are her last “chubby dramas. When her face is slightly fat, it’s really cute! It seems like being really thin was the only way to look good in the gauzy style costumes they created for her + look good in Xie Ze’s demonic lens. With a thinner face she can resist his bad angles better.😩
And her body is not returned in the book. LCY doesn’t even visit her grave because he can’t face reality. In the drama, it’s not his grace either. Xiao Feng’s brother pushes him away.
