They’ve actually subtly been hinting that Nie Sangyu had a bit more depth than being pure evil but with censorship, they have to walk a tightrope. I’m actually surprised we got the opening we got with Nie Sangyu which was absolutely beautiful besides that one spot (that I think was done for attention and possibly to avert a cut).

I think Yuan Lang will probably like her. I’m not so sure about the other guy.

It has to do with the styling of this drama. Because he uses such light, airy fabrics, the actress has to be tall and thin to pull it off. If you look at the other actresses, they are all unbearably thin. I think it’s same stylist as AoL and apparently Yang Zi had to lose a lot of weight too.

He doesn’t deserve her in the beginning but it’s because they had a bad start to their relationship due to being too young but now that they’re older and more mature, they can deal with things better. He becomes really doting later on once he realises the FML has changed.

I kind of want that too. I think this show is making a really important point to young girls/women about the importance independence and how much you should sacrifice for a relationship and if they were the same person, it would be an amazing character growth arc.

I agree that she she’s way too thin sometimes, especially in the beginning and it affects her looks. I heard she went down to like 80lbs but she’s like around 5’5 so that’s a lot of weight lost. Thankfully she looks good fat or thin. She’s got a sweet spot though. It’s when she has just a little bit of meat on her face. The episode when she’s got her hair in a bun and crying is about the perfect weight.

I think it’s because there are a lot of people who haven’t read the book and don’t know the backstory behind why the ML is so mean. The drama has them going in cold.

I don’t think it’s plastic surgery at all. She’s in Menghualu and Shengyin and looks different. For some reason, they demanded all the actresses be really thin for this show and that can make people’s eyes look a lot bigger. That’s what happened with PXR’s appearance. Features I haven’t seen in a long time reappeared. In some shots, she looks like she did before shooting GMP.

Just a regular everyday modern girl. There’s a bit when she returns back to her world but it’s not a very profound existence so she longs to go back and does.

I think I like the drama better than the book. I feel like the show removed most of the unpleasant bits of the book and left all the enjoyable elements.

It seems like the show is hinting at the fact that she’s a twin who was wrongly brought back instead. It’s actually working as a decent workaround for the transmigration plotline too if it’s true.
The events are different but the essence of the book seems to be there.

I didn’t like voice at first but now I really love it. It’s so cute and high spirited!

I really like Jiman too. She’s quickly becoming my favourite because she’s so brazen😂. I’m so glad PXR has withstood the criticism to keep giving us these independent female leads.

General Tao is hilarious. When he came up to Jiman and basically said , “Please step on me.” I laughed so much.

Omg this show debuted at #1 on Maoyan and has the highest score of 2023 so far!🎊🎊

One of the saddest endings I have ever seen in my life😩 I cried so hard that I choked when I watched it and even now when I think of what happened to Xiao Feng, there’s a deep grief.

Yeah, he’s not a love brain at first but then slowly becomes one. He’s like the cold and domineering type at this stage so there shouldn’t be chemistry persay right now.

He dislikes her from the start of their marriage if I remember correctly. Apparently, he was forced into it if my memory is right and then he hated her behaviour.
I don’t remember it being very clear in the book when he starts to like her either. It’s more like he starts being less of a jerk/starts hanging around her more once her demeanour changes and falls in love with her that way.
