Why i am feeling like it’s not her original voice.
It’s not. It’s a dub. I think the Women’s Day tidbit might have been her original voice though. It sounded close. I’m low-key hoping that Nie Sangyu is done by her.
I’ve always wondered if one of the reasons why Xiao Feng is so memorable is because her story is so heartbreaking.…
The book is really gut wrenching. It’s from Xiao Feng’s point of view but starts from when she’s married. The book Li Chengyin is basically a monster, there’s very little to redeem him but then I think the book doesn’t try to whitewash his character like the drama. I think the beauty of the book comes from the side stories. They’re really poignant and explain the complexity of the characters in a delicate way.
I've seen comments online that it has been heavily rewritten. That's what it seems like from the trailer too,…
Yes, the script is very different from the book. A lot of what was in the book wouldn’t pass censorship and a lot people didn’t like the male lead. I’m a book fan but I’m going into this with an open mind and thinking of this as a loose adaptation because it seems the essence of the book is still there but the journey is different.
I've watched this show so many times since it first came out. One thing that remains the same to me is that XF's…
I’ve always wondered if one of the reasons why Xiao Feng is so memorable is because her story is so heartbreaking. From the beginning to the end, it’s the story of an abused woman that starts with Xiao Feng at 15 and in real life that’s so young and impressionable… In the drama, she was groomed by Gu Jian, whom she trusted, and that in addition to her youth + GXW’s novelty factor created the infatuation that led to her doom. In the book, there’s more detail and explanation for how she falls for GXW and it’s a sweet enough history that it’s easier to understand her dilemma a bit more and why she says she loves GXW and never Li Chengyin. In the drama, I got the sense that it was more the idea of GXW and the happiness and innocence of that period than the man since it was the last few happy days of Xiao Feng’s life. After she gets to Central Plains and learns about the Danchi again, though the drama tries to convince the audience otherwise , I agree it’s more trauma bonding/others brainwashing Xiao Feng than Xiao Feng being in actual love with Li Chengyin. She’s isolated from her home and family; and she’s so lonely, she cries or gets depressed. It makes sense that she latches on to the few moments of kindness he showed her and tries to build something from it when you think this is the man she’ll be with for the rest of life. It’s so sad and I’ve always felt that Xiao Feng’s ending was more because she was kind and desperate than out of love. She knew she couldn’t escape him and she couldn’t live with him either after all the betrayal and abuse but it wouldn’t be in her character to kill him either.
How did ji man replaced her twin sister in the novel?
Me too because PXR is known for performances that don’t feel the same, and even in the trailer Nie Sangyu has a different feeling from Jiman. It’s a bit exciting because I don’t think she’s ever played a villainous character before either.
Ngl, I screamed when Nie Sangyu appeared because the look was completely different from the sweetness of the Reuters image. Her title of most vicious woman in the capital is just too good🥹
Right? They really act like she’s hideous but it’s the usual suspects after looking at their Weibo pages.…
I guess I just can’t understand the mentality of the haters. Li Binghe is a natural beauty with a performance that earned a prestigious award nomination but you never hear anyone outside fans mention the role on Weibo. It’s always just Xiao Feng and she’s a one hit wonder. I know some of it is anti fan/marketing account behaviour designed to hurt her and her future dramas but it’s also like there’s this bitterness on Weibo against Peng Xiao Ran for playing Xiao Feng and for daring to look or acting as anything different from Xiao Feng. There’s no concept of character setting or understanding different characters will have different looks/feelings according to theme, Director, or production. Also I got to say the comments about her choosing a “quality drama” are also maddening. GMP is the level it is because it was meant for Fan BingBing who was a top level star at the time and wealthy. She gave GMP to Xiao Ran as a birthday gift supposedly. With FBB hit with scandal, PXR had no backer at 26/27 in an industry where 30 is when actress’s career is thought to be over if she isn’t popular by then. She didn’t and doesn’t have the powerful backing to make demands like actresses with backgrounds or money do. She had to start from scratch and basically worked her way up from the bottom, even joining a variety show where she was criticised and judged harshly to get where she is today.
OST Lineup includes Liu Yuning, Shan Yichun, Liu Xijun , Lai Meiyun, Shuang Sheng, Li Ziting, and Ye Xuanqing. Can’t wait! Seems like a strong lineup💪.
If you follow the YouTube links below, try to leave a like or a comment to increase the show’s popularity if you can. It seems like Tencent doesn’t realise the extent of Xiao Ran and Ryan Ding’s overseas fan base .

A)Nie Sangyu - The most vicious woman in the capital
B) Ji Man - Chaos gremlin
