Dang, I just remembered in the book that the original owner of Jiman’s body had a mother who was a twin and that both twins married the original owner’s father. However, one twins poisoned the other I think out of jealousy? And didn’t Jiman have a younger sister who married Ning Yuxuan as well and was an adversary? If Nie Sangyu is still alive, I wonder if things will play out in a similar way with Nie Sangyu trying to kill/harm Jiman to keep Ning Yuxuan. If this is the case, I hope Ning Yuxuan has a heart to heart with Nie Sangyue at some point.
Jiman took the script of the tsundere maIe lead during the carriage shoulder rest scene and it was just so cute. I really like her so much. She’s just so fierce and high spirited, and so anti-routine in the best way. So different from the female lead standard. She’s not always useful but she never remains useless and I love that about her and this show. Whenever she’s not capable in one area, the shows quickly gives us a scene where she is. And, though his vision is weird af, I got to hand it to Xie Ze when it comes to making fast food dramas. I blew threw today’s episodes without a single skip even though they were obvious set up episodes.
Here to shake my fists at Youku and the editors again!!! How come Tencent can give us a sexy dance and a bed kiss but Youku can’t even deliver a twirl and a hug!!? I hope the actors I like stay away from Youku.

That’s fair. I thought I’d just explain why it may be so long. The book had a lot going on and was like 500 chapters. Depending on how the drama proceeds it may have a lot of ground to cover.
Is it me or did they changed the character of Wen Wan? From my vague recollection reading the beginning chapters…
No your memory is correct. Wen Wan was his true love and Ji man the vicious second female lead. They changed the dynamic to make things more palatable.

It’s probably so many episodes because of the book. The book it’s based on is loooong af and covers years of their life together, plus the relationships of a few other pairings.
That bed room scene in ep 7 is so hot. Tried to watch her other dramas but none has the same feeling like this…
Thank goodness this show aired on Tencent. Youku would have just cut this scene. I don’t even think we have gotten the dance let alone a kiss on the bed. I think the difference with this one is Jiman really feels independent and a little strong and has a big personality whereas Jun Jiu Ling didn’t have much personality outside of gentleness and Xiao Feng, and Li Binghe have personality and are independent but don’t seem as strong and/or put up with an abusive partner. Bai Lu was too butchered by editing. She’s known for being one of the ceilings of the silly white sweet types but I hope she can get much deeper roles/more varied roles now that she’s aired a few shows.

If you end up wanting to see more of her, any of her other dramas are good tho. However, GMP is like a ticket to a lifetime of grief😂. Thanks for the recs. I’ll check them out during my next drama shortage. I,m really starting to like his face and there’s so few young actors with acting skills AND machismo nowadays that I want to give some of his other stuff a look.
