Their love story is so haunting. I think she really loved his true self that we see more with GXW. It creeps in,…
She committed suicide out of desperation and responsibility. She knew she couldnāt live as the 9th Princess nor as the Crown Princess but cleverly realised she could use LCYās obsession to win peace. Xiao Feng was a love brain at first but itās LCY who stays a āloveā brain forever.
Iāve always wondered if one of the reasons why Xiao Feng is so memorable is because her story is so heartbreaking.…
Li Cheng Yin may think itās love. He may even wish to be Gu Xiao Wu but it doesnāt change the fact that in the end it became all about possessing Xiao Feng. In the drama, if he loved Xiao Feng as opposed to wanting to possess Xiao Feng he wouldnāt have tried to force things. He wouldnāt have hurt her the way he did. In the book he assaults her at least twice and both times are violent. The drama cuts it down to one scene but there is no east palace or politics requiring him to hurt Xiao Feng. Itās all pure jealousy and possessiveness. In the scene when LCY comes to Xiao Fengās bedroom to confess his love, Iāve always thought part of the reason she stabs him is because she is scared of what LCY will do if she refuses him.
i was holding myself from commenting on ongoing dramas that I really want to succeed plotwise/storywise/ratings-wise.…
Thanks for the recommendation but Starry Love isnāt my cup of tea. I do agree with you about NSY tho. NYX at least owes her an explanation for the years they spent married.
If a drama is good it sets high standards, so itās normal that people compare it Especially that TSL has ended…
Yeah being a drama fan is definitely the best life. When I was drama fan, I just whizzed through dramas without a care. It was great. š Thereās been some major strides in cleaning up fan culture though. Some of the big marketing accounts that start a lot of the fan wars got banned last month and itās been so much more peaceful.

I donāt think foreign fans are doing it on purpose by comparing but on Weibo etc, fans of the TSL show, the pairing, and the actor have been causing a lot of trouble to RoaTF so it make some sensitive. One of the ways they do this is to ruin the word of mouth with complaints.
I loved the latest episodes. Episode 11 seems to have a different director. Itās still shaky but the shots of people, especially Xiao Ran are really good. I hope this Director features more. Gonna rewatch episode 12 again. I laughed so hard at the casino owner all beat up behind them while they had a couple moment.

Honestly, I donāt think Xiao Feng is as incapable as everyone says. In reality the problem was she was too young and LCY by keeping her out of court politics never allowed her to grow up. Xiao Feng might not like complicated things but it doesnāt mean sheās not clever. I think she would have had some bottom lines but ultimately, I think she would have learned to survive.

Iād argue heās not human and thatās where the drama messes up is in trying to absolve him. By the time LCY meets XFin the drama heās already got the beginnings of turning into a monster in his veins due to the East Palace. In the book, heās already a monster. His story is a corruption arc . Absolute power corrupts absolutely and becoming the monsters you fight. Iād argue itās not love he feels but possession. He wants to own the one thing that brings a bit of light and humanity to his life but in his monstrosity, he destroys it. If there is any reason to pity LCY it is that; that he is destined to destroy that he loves most. In the book he seems to understand this which I can respect but that drama cheapens out by trying to make all that happen somehow out of his hands or not his fault.

If I remember that scene correctly when she tells LCY that her GXW is already dead and that LCY killed GXW with his bare hands, itās a double message. A message to herself that the period she loved him is dead and never coming back and thatās thereās no hope in LCY because he killed that relationship/happiness himself with his betrayal. The second is to hurt LCY by stoking his jealousy.
