I loved the latest episodes. Episode 11 seems to have a different director. It’s still shaky but the shots of people, especially Xiao Ran are really good. I hope this Director features more. Gonna rewatch episode 12 again. I laughed so hard at the casino owner all beat up behind them while they had a couple moment.
Their love story is so haunting. I think she really loved his true self that we see more with GXW. It creeps in,…
Honestly, I don’t think Xiao Feng is as incapable as everyone says. In reality the problem was she was too young and LCY by keeping her out of court politics never allowed her to grow up. Xiao Feng might not like complicated things but it doesn’t mean she’s not clever. I think she would have had some bottom lines but ultimately, I think she would have learned to survive.
I’ve always wondered if one of the reasons why Xiao Feng is so memorable is because her story is so heartbreaking.…
I’d argue he’s not human and that’s where the drama messes up is in trying to absolve him. By the time LCY meets XFin the drama he’s already got the beginnings of turning into a monster in his veins due to the East Palace. In the book, he’s already a monster. His story is a corruption arc . Absolute power corrupts absolutely and becoming the monsters you fight. I’d argue it’s not love he feels but possession. He wants to own the one thing that brings a bit of light and humanity to his life but in his monstrosity, he destroys it. If there is any reason to pity LCY it is that; that he is destined to destroy that he loves most. In the book he seems to understand this which I can respect but that drama cheapens out by trying to make all that happen somehow out of his hands or not his fault.

If I remember that scene correctly when she tells LCY that her GXW is already dead and that LCY killed GXW with his bare hands, it’s a double message. A message to herself that the period she loved him is dead and never coming back and that’s there’s no hope in LCY because he killed that relationship/happiness himself with his betrayal. The second is to hurt LCY by stoking his jealousy.
I didn’t bother reading the comments below but I am enjoying it tooI actually dropped the other Seven Tan romance…
I’m really enjoying this show too! It’s my treat after a long day at work. I was going to watch this show anyway but it’s the only drama I’ve watched this year and possibly the only show I will watch this year.
The show made #3 on Yunhe! Yesterday it was #1 on Maoyan again! And, I believe the show was #1 on V-linkage and…
Haha, I might sound like a broken record but if you like the show, give it a like, view or comment on YouTube or Viki if you can. I’ve heard foreign audiences are counted in Maoyan and the better stats the show has, the better resources both actors will be able to grab in the future. This can mean better production companies, scripts, endorsements, and/or teams
Oh i m the opposite tho. I enjoy PXR acting both in Goodbye My Princess and here. it's just the story plot (and…
I like PXR in both too. It’s different styles of acting I think. GMP is serious acting while this is over the top comedy acting. I like Ryan Ding too. I think for all the complaints on this page, there’s very few young actors who could pull this show off with this director. I don’t know how to describe Xie Ze, he’ll take like 5 pts off of any talent or beauty. Just look at the opening scene😩. It was so beautiful in the marketing edit. The scene would have joined the conferred god ranks if they had just left it alone.
i was holding myself from commenting on ongoing dramas that I really want to succeed plotwise/storywise/ratings-wise.…
I haven’t watched Starry Love but I guess the difference is that NSY is not designed to be likeable in the beginning tho. It’s a redemption/wife chasing story. He’s supposed to change his “evil” ways to win Jiman over. In the book this takes nearly the entire story. Jiman really doesn’t give him the time of day until the end. There’s also the fact that in the book NSY is basically the vicious villainous female 2nd and that contributes a lot to his earlier behaviour towards her. The drama toned things down but kept some elements of the book I guess. NSY’s suicide seemed to happen at a chaotic time. You see him try to go after her but he gets distracted by an assassin and then all he’ll breaks loose. I think he wanted to bring her back explain things/investigate what happened but there was a plan in place that he couldn’t say in broad daylight. I think before that he never thought she would do what she did because he took for granted her devotion to him. As for the marriage, the show says it’s an imperial decree. They need the emperor’s approval and tbh it seems like there’s more to it than that. When Jiman tells her father who dotes on her she wants a divorce, he basically shoos her away. I don’t know what the show will do for NYX’s redemption but in the book he undergoes a massive change and is leagues different from the start.
I guess I'm in the minority, I'm really enjoying this drama and eagerly waiting for each new episode. It's interesting…
I like the show too! Not sure what all the hate is about either but I guess it’s not a PXR drama unless a mass of people come to ruin its word of mouth😂. I think it’s a funny and cute show. There have been so many scenes where I thought I was going to die laughing.
For the mansion thing, I think the ghost money everywhere on the ground is what freaking her out. She prob doesn’t…
Thank you for being kind. Sometimes when I think I’m having a discussion on this site, the other party gets angry with me so thank you. I also think they’re a cute pair! I feel like Xie Ze’s lens dampens it but whoever is shooting the tidbits keeps capturing them 100%. They just visually look so good together. Like I know PXR is in her 30s and DYX in his 20s but in the tidbits and certain shots of the show they really look like a young couple learning to be together and it’s so cute lol. I saw a tidbit for RR but the styling and trailer put me off strangely enough. I might give it a try tho.
