I’m a little excited for all the emotional scenes😅 Xiao Ran has never had a young male partner who can cry well before so I’m looking forward to Ryan Ding who has performed well in all other aspects.

I’m a book fan and a drama fan. I like the changes made in the drama.I think if the drama stayed the same as the novel, this drama wouldn’t do as well. On Weibo a lot of people were disgusted by it and the novel male lead seem to be scolded a lot. The drama version of Ning Yuxuan is a kitten compared to the novel and he’s still getting scolded. I can’t imagine what would happen if they had gone for novel version. The character would probably get scolded to death.

The setting is gorgeous, really one of the most beautiful sets I’ve ever seen. including xianxia settings too.
I agree with the styling choices because they fit the book, but if they were as extravagant as the settings, I doubt we’d hear peep of complaint about this drama because you can tell money went into it.

It’s climbed up to #4 on Yunhe for 03/24!
It’s broadcasting as a S+ which is a surprise but good because I’m pretty sure the show was an S (unless they upgraded it). If it is an S broadcasting at an S+ level, this is fantastic for the actors and might give them access to bigger budget dramas.
Unfortunately it lost its #1 on Maoyan but I think it’s still Top 3.

I didn’t do anything but read the novel when I started it. It really had me hooked with all the madness that went on in it. Ji Man gave me the impression that she was a mix of Xiao Feng and Jun Jiu Ling and that PXR would be great as her and I haven’t been disappointed. I think I actually like the drama better. It’s much more friendly to women.

I love chubby Xiao Ran too. I’m a bit sad to thinkSJFY and MTN are her last “chubby dramas. When her face is slightly fat, it’s really cute! It seems like being really thin was the only way to look good in the gauzy style costumes they created for her + look good in Xie Ze’s demonic lens. With a thinner face she can resist his bad angles better.😩

She committed suicide out of desperation and responsibility. She knew she couldn’t live as the 9th Princess nor as the Crown Princess but cleverly realised she could use LCY’s obsession to win peace.
Xiao Feng was a love brain at first but it’s LCY who stays a “love” brain forever.

Li Cheng Yin may think it’s love. He may even wish to be Gu Xiao Wu but it doesn’t change the fact that in the end it became all about possessing Xiao Feng. In the drama, if he loved Xiao Feng as opposed to wanting to possess Xiao Feng he wouldn’t have tried to force things. He wouldn’t have hurt her the way he did. In the book he assaults her at least twice and both times are violent. The drama cuts it down to one scene but there is no east palace or politics requiring him to hurt Xiao Feng. It’s all pure jealousy and possessiveness.
In the scene when LCY comes to Xiao Feng’s bedroom to confess his love, I’ve always thought part of the reason she stabs him is because she is scared of what LCY will do if she refuses him.

Xiao Feng was 15 so even younger. Regardless of his past, he treated her very poorly. There’s no forgiving that.

Thanks for the recommendation but Starry Love isn’t my cup of tea. I do agree with you about NSY tho. NYX at least owes her an explanation for the years they spent married.

Yeah being a drama fan is definitely the best life. When I was drama fan, I just whizzed through dramas without a care. It was great. 😂 There’s been some major strides in cleaning up fan culture though. Some of the big marketing accounts that start a lot of the fan wars got banned last month and it’s been so much more peaceful.

I don’t think foreign fans are doing it on purpose by comparing but on Weibo etc, fans of the TSL show, the pairing, and the actor have been causing a lot of trouble to RoaTF so it make some sensitive. One of the ways they do this is to ruin the word of mouth with complaints.

Right? If you like that drama that’s fine but please don’t use it to keep stepping on this show and the actress.
