I think this is why she hasn’t filmed many dramas this year. Apparently C-ent often gives scripts to stars they think fit the archetype or they want to cast based off previous roles or popularity. In a recent interview she mentioned receiving a lot of sadomasochism scripts but from her tone, it seemed like she wasn’t interested. Instead, I think she’s waiting for quality teams + a script in a genre she hasn’t tried before.

Yes, a lot people don’t understand that she is in the industry without any backing when they criticise her choice of shows. Many don’t understand the reason why GMP is so beautiful is because it was designed to attract Fan BingBing and she gave it as a Bday present to Xiao Ran and then invested in it herself. GMP originally aired as a loss to Youku which may be why they’re trying claw money with any way they can now. They don’t understand that without FBB that PXR couldn’t get heroine roles until GMP aired and even then I think it was only her popularity on the Tencent acting variety show that made Youku throw a lifeline to her. I hope the movie she just finished gives her more positive exposure. It has some big names in it if it is true and there’s a possibility she’ll be paired with a big star.
