I thought she would have talked to him too but I think she might have been afraid her resolve would break. It’s weird but I don’t think she has quite grown up yet. Even though I know she’s not that much younger than Xiao Huan she really seems like she’s just past the cusp of adulthood sometimes in face , body language, and voice.
I just knew the adopted son didn’t die. This drama is making the characters take poison each position like they’re…
I think it was said in the heat of the moment but once reality kicked in, she wasn’t ready. Cangcang is supposed to be somewhat impulsive if I remember right. She doesn’t always think before she acts. She did communicate though. She said she needed to sort her head out and it seemed she was going back with him too.
Don’t really blame Du Tingxin. Even though it doesn’t seem like it, I feel she’s in the same boat as Cangcang.…
I’m actually annoyed they made it so emotional when they didn’t need to. Her transformation could have been totally about her career, especially if she is loyal to country and crown but it’s all about jealousy over a man.
That du ting xin isn't bad I think because she's the one who clear their misunderstanding and tell her that Xiao…
Don’t really blame Du Tingxin. Even though it doesn’t seem like it, I feel she’s in the same boat as Cangcang. This plot just wants to highlight men and will trample the women to do so because she’s been made a love brain. She could have legitimately turned out of patriotism or loyalty to the crown but it seems it’s jealousy.
I’m actually interested to see if they keep to the original storyline. If so, I’m very curious to see what…
Well aware of what happens. I actually don’t care about it because Xiao Huan’s love is his own and no one asked him to do all that. In the book he gets this but I don’t know about the drama. Cangcang is not obligated to love him. And he doesn’t want to imprison her with his love but some viewers do. Looking at that list feels so transactional as though everything done for love must be kept on a receipt so everyone knows how much you paid and they’re in debt to it. If I had to read, hear, or see this everyday, I’d be exhausted. I don’t understand a romantic partner or anyone else who would want this or would want others to make their partner feel this way. Unfortunately Cangcang will pay that debt- with her dreams, goals, body, and health -she will repay it until theres not much left of her.

I don’t think the FL has been poorly written tbh. She’s actually a really good character. She just doesn’t love the ML on the same level at this point-which to me is not a dealbreaker. I think rather than her character, it’s the overall plot involving her that isn’t very good. It won’t let her achieve anything by herself. The ML doesn’t believe Cangcang can handle anything and the plot seems to be bringing his thought to life. In the beginning they were a power couple but you could see the ML trying to overprotect her telling her to leave/not get involved but Cangcang being of equal standing in Jianghu usually challenges him and stays. However in the palace everything changes because he has absolute power and so can basically keep Cangcang in a cage and almost everything is arranged for him to save the day. It makes him look good but makes Cangcang, look bad.
I’m ready for Du villain era. hate her character to death because it doesn’t matter if she truly loves the…
I’m actually interested to see if they keep to the original storyline. If so, I’m very curious to see what happens. I used to think DTX turning evil for love was ridiculous but now it feels like an experiment by the screenwriter. It’s obvious that FLs leads are judged based on whether they love the ML. So what will happen to audience opinion when the character who doesn’t love the ML becomes “good” and the character that does love the ML becomes bad.
This must be a contractual drama where the leads have no option but to fulfil. Otherwise why would such a great…
RJL didn’t have a choice. Xiao Ran said they only had part of the script when shooting started and it was being written as it was being filmed. I’m pretty sure they also had the editing van too which allowed them to shoot and edit. The screenwriter is interesting because there’s definitely funk plots but yet the characters are terrifyingly consistent and logical within their world view. The last time I saw something like this was Runyu.
At least so far we know she did all those because she really cares and loves ML, and the country. And she doesn’t…
But it’s not about liking or disliking her, who loves who, or thinking if she’s wrong or right but about if Xiao Huan would do anything. Based on his previous pattern of behaviour and his conversation with Cangcang, it seems he will say something.

But the ML told her to do something and she didn’t do it so while I don’t think he will be severe he will definitely address it because it involves Cangcang and almost caused another misunderstanding (good thing they communicated).
It’s not about her being dumb or a loser. The issue is that she only cares about what she wants to do, what…
I just rewatched it and during the palace arc she is actively trying to solve the mystery by herself and by asking Xiao Huan. And she’s doing this while getting use to palace life.
Actually I think she’s the same but in Jianghu she knows the world better, has more freedom to make decisions she’s not a caged bird.
The unexpected consequence of Xie Lounan’s outburst has lead to a lot of great think pieces and character analysis. Kinda glad there was one episode today. It gave me time to read some great writing and will bring a different perspective when watching the show.

If she only cared about herself she wouldn’t have helped those children, she wouldn’t listen to her family, and she wouldn’t have helped treat Xiao Huan’s illness when they were at odds.
The misunderstanding is not one sided and the one who can break the gridlock won’t so why should she take all the heat and Xiao Huan’s role in the misunderstanding be ignored?
The truth is many people are angry at her for not loving a man over everything else.
When people were complaining about a few minutes I thought it was exaggeration to then be shocked by it really…
The editing is a problem too. And it can make or break a scene. There’s some scenes I want to try re-editing and might when I have more time.
While in Kumor’s camp, Cangcang is injured by an arrow. It leads to her confessing some of her true feelings due to pain and delirium. Xiao Huan watches over her during the whole time, basically not letting many people near her. When she wakes I think he’s quite ill too and then she ends of taking care of him. And it’s through this period of mutual caretaking that they break the gridlock.
Do you think they should have re-edited this drama? I don’t think they would have done it anyway, because they…
If I remember correctly, this show utilised their new editing van technology so they could shoot and edit on the spot. I feel like there were even a decent number of reshoots too. It lost a few episodes though so if it was tightly edited, this could have thrown some things out of whack.
