Right he clearly has no bottom line. The ML knows it's his intention to rebel and seize the throne so why not…
She’s staying Empress out of loyalty to her family. She didn’t want to be empress in the first place but was threatened into it. And even if she ran, what good would it do? She would more than likely be chased down just like the beginning.
This!! Walk a mile in someone’s shoes “ CangCang was deceived and used since she was young by her family but…
Xiao Huan is not a villain but neither is Cangcang. Why should she toss aside the family that raised her for a man she’s only known for a few years who has been lying to her? If there can be compassion for all of Xiao Huan’s troubles there should be compassion for Cangcang as well.
Co-sign! People want her to be grateful but forget that he was the one that approached her with an agenda and…
Right? The double standards are annoying. There’s all these comments in support of Xiao Huan but they don’t look Xiao Huan to me. He would hate it here😭 We finally get a ML who recognises that he is going to upend the FL’s life and it’s getting overrun by pickmeisha thinking🙂↕️
I completely agree with that. I was actually just going to type that she saw the evidence and yet she was still…
But this is your understanding from an omnipresent perspective. Cangcang doesn’t have this and can only react within the confines of her own understanding. From her perspective, the only one lying to her continuously is Xiao Huan. And this response is ignoring the fact that she is seeking answers, possibly uncomfortable ones by going to the “enemy party” but Xiao Huan won’t give them. There can be paragraphs for why he won’t give them but it doesn’t negate the fact that he won’t give them. And as long as he is shifty about the situation then I think Cangcang is right to distrust him until she can get answers.
I really can’t stand the belief “well, he’s good to you” but it seems so prevalent in the comments here. This phrase is often used to gaslight and keep women in toxic situations, which Cangcang is most definitely is in. So what if Xiao Huan loves Cangcang? Does it negate the fact that he forced her into marriage when she was clearly unwilling? That such free spirited young woman will lose her freedom to spend the rest of her life in the palace bound by rules, restrictions, and his whims? Does it negate the fact that he uses Cangcang as a pawn? Or that even if he has his own reasons, he doesn’t respect Cangcang’s capabilities enough to tell her the truth?
And even if Xiao Huan is good to her, those are his own feelings. Just because he loves her doesn’t mean she owes him anything. People are applauding him protecting her in the palace but who forced her into such a situation in the first place? Why does she have to be grateful for her captivity? His love shouldn’t negate her own feelings. We can come up with paragraphs for the reason why but it doesn’t change the fact that Xiao Huan is hurting Cangcang and she should be allowed to acknowledge and react to that hurt. His love is true but the hurt is also true.
In the end, I think Cangcang just wants the truth. Her thought process and experience shouldn’t just be washed away because some people want her to be a “good wife, good mother” to the ML. From Cangcang’s perspective, her family has never really deceived her but Xiao Huan has been lying to her from their first meeting. When her family warned her not to trust him, she spoke up for him only to have him betray that trust. Won’t that make her wary of him in the future? Not to mention Cangcang is a straightforward person. “If Xiao Huan isn’t guilty, then why can’t he just tell the truth?” is probably her thought process. And with Xiao Huan’s resources and power it’s really not out of the realm of possibility for him to frame the Master.
I completely agree with that. I was actually just going to type that she saw the evidence and yet she was still…
I wondered if the foster brother was subtly manipulating the situation. I want to think the reveal was so that Cangcang would let go of the master and cling to Xiao Huan like her father wants. But, the foster brother could also want to do the opposite.
I completely agree with that. I was actually just going to type that she saw the evidence and yet she was still…
She has doubts but I think that’s why she keeps asking Xiao Huan why did he kill the master. He’s been lying to her since they first met. So, she wants the truth from him. This is something I’ve always respected about Cangcang’s character. Whether people like it or not, she is not afraid of saying what she needs from Xiao Huan. Rather than sulking she tells him directly and she doesn’t let go until she gets it.
We have an omnipresent view but in her world the only one manipulating her from the time they met is Xiao Huan. He’s also the only one who has betrayed her trust. So why couldn’t he frame the master? It’s not actually outside of Xiao Huan’s abilities. If he was innocent, why would it be difficult for him to just tell her the truth? If he can’t then she will have her doubts.

This. And I think she wants the story from Xiao Huan himself. People are forgetting that when they first met, everyone was telling her not to trust Bai Chifan but she did and things ended up the way they did. She probably hasn’t forgotten that. In her eyes the only one who has been manipulating her this whole time is Xiao Huan. If that’s the case, then why wouldn’t he frame the master?
I don’t quite understand why there are so many complaints about the drama by day 3. It’s one thing if people…
I’m waiting for the naysayers to move on to another show.😅 It’ll be quieter but I’m hoping the discussion can turn to plots, character analysis, or cultural insights, etc
