Nah, Cangcang isn’t similar to Xiao Feng at all. The only real similarity is they’re forced into marriage…
Actors often get typecast so they get the same type of scripts a lot. Xiao Ran has said in the past that she gets a lot of tragedy scripts. Sometimes she can get other roles but they are rare. But every role is an opportunity for her to be seen so I’m rarely disappointed in her choices.
Same I was looking forward to this one too but the writing is very cheap
If a drama doesn’t work it won’t work. Fan status can’t change this. I like this drama but that’s because I like Cangcang and this type of heroine a lot. On the other hand I don’t like Jun Jiu Ling very much. You gotta find the drama that works for you. Hopefully Xiao Ran will start filming soon. I heard she’s been getting scripts for more mature characters.

It doesn’t make you any less of a fan. Everyone has their likes and dislikes and there will always be other ways and opportunities to support Xiao Ran. Hopefully Boundless Bright Moon will have what you’re looking for.
I’m truly enjoying every episode. At last, I’m seeing characters who actually transform throughout the drama.…
Thank you for another great analysis. It hits the nail on the head about the growth and transformation of the characters in the show. It’s really capturing the feeling of the book for me. A lot of people are getting frustrated but that’s how it felt in the book right before the Western Regions arc. When I read the book, I thought it was a pointless arc but watching the drama makes me understand its importance. The palace was too toxic for the relationship to develop.
😭😭😭 My poor Cangcang. Got 3 minutes in and teared up. God, that sad, painful yet proud and defiant smile from Cangcang after she drank the soup was too much. They softened the way it happened from the book but I could see the hurt and humiliation all the same.

This show is banking on the nostalgia even down to the voice actress but I don’t think she chose the role to play Xiao Feng 2.0. It seems to be the producers. She even tried to use her original voice but wasn’t allowed. There might be some similarities in the jianghu arc but I think they stop once she gets to the palace. I think all roles have a reason. And Cangcang is difficult to play. And it’s precisely this difficult type of character that she’s suited to play. If 10% is like Xiao Feng that’s okay if the other 90% can showcase her abilities and will grow her opportunities. The most important thing for her is air a drama because that’s where she gets the most exposure. This is just one role out of many after all. Mu Yumo, Miss Qi, and Jialan have different looks.
I don’t think it’s so much fixated that he killed her master. It’s more she wants the truth from the culprit.…
Actually she told her father she didn’t want to get married in the beginning before she runs away. But it then plays out in front of her that he is “helpless” in the situation. For a father who is good to her for her whole life so far, she will think his involvement can’t be helped and pity him. Especially when the adversary killed her master. When she finds out more, her feelings might change.
And I’m sorry but I don’t believe she can truly torture the male lead. His love is his own. She’s not obligated to love the ML back just because he likes her. And their positions are too unequal- he has more power over her life than she does his. If he stops loving her, he can build a harem and toss her to the side and no one will judge him. But Cangcang will be tied to him for life and won’t be able to easily leave the palace unless he allows it.
And I did understand the context clearly. You didn’t fault her but you did say “I feel like she’s trapped in her own illusion of, ‘I’m only going to torture him.” And I explained my take on that opinion as I thought this was a true discussion. My bad😅
😂😂😂 Just a heads up to those shipping Du Tingxin and Xiao Huan, Ship whoever you want but if they don’t change the original storyline, things are gonna get weird af.
We have every reason to blame the leads, and yet… we feel sorry for them all the same. Last night, I tried looking…
Yes, this is the thing with this pairing. They are both right and they are both wrong. They are a mess but their world is messy and they are an interesting and chaotic take on the trope of opposites attract. For them, thinking in black and white won’t work because they are truly a grey couple. It will never quite be about wrong or right but about choices. Because relationships are difficult-they will both make mistakes and/or do the right thing -and the rollercoaster ride of that journey is fascinating to me.
I don’t think it’s so much fixated that he killed her master. It’s more she wants the truth from the culprit.…
She doesn’t know the father is involved so how can she be angry with him? And she won’t tell her father to stop supporting the ML because: 1. That doesn’t make sense as the family’s power and position is closely intertwined with the ML 2. Her father won’t listen to her
She isn’t torturing the ML. She was grieving her father figure while married to his murderer. That would be complicated for most sane people. When she gets more info, she offers him the olive branch of telling her the truth but he won’t take it. Anyway, she’s not the one who broke the trust between them. Why should the victim be at fault? And why should she settle for less than she wants just because the perpetrator is begging for forgiveness but won’t do the work?
I really like PXR, but I am a bit disapponted she took this role, which is somewhat similar to her previous role…I…
Nah, Cangcang isn’t similar to Xiao Feng at all. The only real similarity is they’re forced into marriage and have husbands who infantilise them but that’s about it. The cores of the characters are completely different. Cangcang is older and thus more mature than Xiao Feng and also less “willful”. She obeys her family once married and even acts in their interest. She has been and can deal with problems at a much higher level too, including scheming which Xiao Feng didn’t like to do. Cangcang is also a character with a growth arc rather than Xiao Feng’s corruption arc. Anyway no role is ever a “shame”. PXR has said this herself. We may not understand the whys of it all but there are often multiple reasons for taking a role.
It’s up to you but I think the key is to understand that both characters have their difficulties and flaws and…
It’s the Dowager Empress’s maid. The Dowager Empress is of higher status than Cangcang due to seniority so the maid thought they could bully Cangcang but she proved them wrong.😂
Yeah, it’s really weird how people are reducing her down to the romance. Other than not currently being so into…
The thing is he won’t give her the truth. People can give a million reasons for why he won’t give her the truth but he won’t give her the truth. Remember it’s not Cangcang who broke the trust between them. It’s Xiao Huan. And it’s Xiao Huan who wants back in her graces. She’s given him the first clue as to how to begin to earn it back but he won’t take it. Everyone keeps focussing on Cangcang’s responsibility for the relationship but what about Xiao Huan? Fine, he has other worries but so does Cangcang. Why are his worries worth more than hers?
And what no one gets is that by demanding the truth, Cangcang is trying to reconcile the situation. She understands he may have had reasons for killing her master and they may have been legitimate. A master holds an important spot in the martial arts world. They can be as important as a father. Why do you think Cangcang wanted her master to approve of Bai Chifan so much? It’s like getting approval from a dad. Killing him is like killing her dad. And with the cultural background of filial piety or family ties, she can’t get with her Master’s murderer without a legitimate reason otherwise it’s betraying him which is serious to a person who values people and family.
The romance is quite depressing, and it’s all because the ML isn’t clearing up the misunderstanding. The FL…
I don’t think it’s so much fixated that he killed her master. It’s more she wants the truth from the culprit. In this situation, her master is like her second father. She values people and relationships so him dying is like her dad dying. Even though everyone is telling her to move on, logically filial piety towards the master will make it hard to move on without a legitimate reason from Xiao Huan. That’s why she keeps asking the reason too.
I hope this misunderstanding ends soon. I don't want my girl Cangcang to be tortured anymore. Sometimes, I want…
Right? These men wake up in the morning and start scheming. They go to bed scheming. I can’t stand it🙂↕️ And the only people calling Cangcang naive are the same scheming men trying to do things for “her own good”. I hope Xiao Huan wakes up from this club and stops infantilising her like the rest of her family. Only person taking my girl seriously are the other women.
Srsly guys, I want to watch this bc of PXR and RJL but why are the comments negative and the clips on tiktoks…
It’s up to you but I think the key is to understand that both characters have their difficulties and flaws and that this is really an up and down relationship because of trust, respect/power, and toxic environment issues. It’s not a sugary or healthy ride.
A lot of the comments are negative because they assume the most important relationship a woman should have is with their romantic partner. If you believe that family and friends can be equally as important, you can understand part of the FL’s conflict better as well as see what she’s doing outside the romance.
You gotta find the drama that works for you. Hopefully Xiao Ran will start filming soon. I heard she’s been getting scripts for more mature characters.

I was trying not to reveal that😂 While we’re at it let’s not forget she imprisons Xiao Huan and heavily tortures a pregnant Cangcang too😅
