Actually thinking on it, they may have cut that kiss if it was awkward because of a former actor she worked with whose fans and fans of their pairing often makes comparison videos using the kisses out of context to ruin the reputation of the ML of the show that’s airing.

Yeah in the TikTok video, they kissed but it was a bit of an awkward kiss. Ngl, I went to complain to Youku. Yi Wuyou’s cuts are bad enough but if they start cutting the main lovestory kiss scenes because of haters, it’s going harm one of the key selling points of it.

Or is Youku bowing to naysayer pressure? It doesn’t make sense to alienate the audience that has been sticking with the show. 😭 If there are more cuts, I’ll guess I’ll just have to see if the original is on Viki.

It’s true it’s easier said than done. My words are a joke running amongst his domestic fans. They all joke he should focus on his career and call him a love brain. It’s very cute especially when there are shots of Yi Wuyou looking like a puppy around Yezi😂.
I’m not surprised if the guard also has a crush on Yezi. This series seems to be a shipfest but I’m here for it lol

I feel like I wouldn’t dislike her reviews so much if they weren’t held up as some sort of legitimate rating system by the foreign Cdrama watching community. It’s a bit annoying to see people swoop down with her half-baked reviews to trash dramas. It seems unfair, especially if she presents herself as an authority but then doesn’t do the homework outside of her niche fields. If you say you’re going to judge on the quality, or promote quality dramas, then please also have quality in the work you present.
Her reviews are also a bit unfair because the foreign Cdrama community hasn’t really developed the complaining video culture of domestic Cdramas so some fans take the reviews to heart, especially the young/new ones and it kills enthusiasm for Cdramas or gives the impression that a lot of the ones more accessible to newcomers are all bad when it’s really a case of different audiences.

The reviews when I stopped were too cynical. Her tastes are very specific and based off someone who has and does watch a lot of dramas so her reviews can be a downer, especially for newcomers to Cdramas who are generally more open to watching lots of different things.
I think the historical accuracy comments would be fine if she could figure out a way to discuss them neutrally because they are interesting but she just uses them to bludgeon dramas to death.

A lot of stuff from the novel was cut so it’s hard to say how it’s going to end.

My first Cdrama was about girls switched at birth and was wild but my second was Ashes of Love and then Eternal Love. I saw Love &Destiny too. I ended up finding one of my favourite Cdramas, GMP, by OST too. I really liked the romantic fantasy that seems to only be present in Cdrama. In fact I watched so much Cdrama in the beginning, I accidentally learned started to learn Chinese. 😂
A few years later and now I pretty much only watch PXR dramas.

Agree. She’s got a lot of knowledge about Chinese history, culture, dress, and production values but outside of that not worth a listen. Her reviews/rants are sloppy. She complains about plot holes but often misses key points and doesn’t make corrections when people call out her mistakes. And she doesn’t understand the universal art of storytelling either.

I love their interactions too. It’s really like a master and a troublesome apprentice and this show is just screaming to me the importance of acting. I’ve never seen a pairing bring that type of relationship to life like these two have.

Even the 55 episode version of GMP had cuts actually. It was originally supposed to be 63 episodes. I’m not sure if we’ll get all the missing material due to its content but we may get a better edit or something depending on how popular the show is. So if people like it, definitely like it on YouTube and comment etc cause even if the foreign market doesn’t matter in Cdramas it might help.
