No, the order should stay the same. MDL order is supposed to be based off the official announcement. Some of the cast is actually out of order on the MDL list but PXR fans made sure she had the correct billing.

I don’t know how much was cut from the overall show but if it’s a lot, I wonder if the show will release a second season like Royal Nirvana which showed more of the supporting roles stories and filled in the gaps.

Exactly! This is what a lot of people on Weibo are saying. Not only is she branching out, but it’s also an interesting character.

It’s a bit disappointing but it’s also given her a lot of popularity so there are benefits. And she’s not alone in having scenes cut. A few other characters lost scenes due to the earlier pacing but it affects her more because she doesn’t appear as much. It just annoyed me to see people stepping on her so I made this post. She should appear more towards the later stage.

And before someone asks why didn’t she play BHH, it’s possible BHH was already cast at that point (but still would not be 2nd billing but 4th). And even if BHH was not cast yet, there wouldn’t be a point to Xiao Ran playing this type of role because she has played it before. Her role as Xiao Feng is a textbook level performance of a lively cute character and she has already played a doctor as Jun Jiu Ling. Mu Yumo is a role she has never played before and is a rarer type of character which poses more of a challenge.

While I can understand some people are confused or disappointed by Peng Xiao Ran’s (Mu Yumo) lack of screen time that shouldn’t be a reason to disparage her or her role. It’s been said from the official announcement of the show that her billing was based on ranking and that her appearance might be small. If her already small amount of scenes have been deleted, there is not much she can do. Supposedly she should appear more towards the end just like in the book. She worked hard to film, filming even while injured, and has been working hard to promote the show too. Let’s respect that.

She’s ranked 5th in the cast. Even if Xiao Ran wasn’t the FL, YYT wouldn’t be second billing. It would be Qiao Zhen Yu who plays Su Zhe.

It was hinted in the donghua during a conversation between Su Zhe and SCH while they were riding in the carriage. I don’t remember the exact wording but SCH says something along the lines of no man in the world would be willing to kill MYM. And when he sees TLY carrying MYM into the inn, he actually breaks into the room to check on her. There’s also a scene with her hanging out with him during the same time SMY is living with BHH.
As for betrayal, I didn’t read the book so I’m not sure if there will be other moments.

This was seen in the early stages of the show. MYM was working as an informant for SCH. That’s part of the reason she stayed at the inn-she didn’t want to have to choose between or get involved in the issue between SMY and SCH. And I’ve always felt that part of her motivation for chasing TLY had to do with getting out of the weird triangle she, SMY, and SCH were under. The drama makes it seem like her relationship with the two is really weak but she is really like a sibling to SMY and is one of the people who stays with him the longest while SCH is also a longtime friend. Even if MYM didn’t at one point like SMY and SCH didn’t at one point have a crush on MYM, I still think things would still be complicated.

She should appear more later.

Yeah each platform has their own system for a hit drama. Youku’s is 10,000. IQIYI is also 10,000. Tencent used to be something like 27000 or so but I think it’s 30,000 now. Then there’s independent ranking like Yunhe, CVB, Maoyan and Datawin. A real hit show in the eyes of the public does really well on all relevant areas.

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a Youku drama surpass 10K I think it stops counting or something once it hits this mark. No it’s all about hitting 10K. Show ranking is different but I can’t remember what it looks at.

Tbf, it was only a secret crush and very subtle in the donghua. His main focus in life is Su Muyu regardless of relationship. That’s where his future lies. So even if he likes Mu Yumo and sometimes there’s a tension because of this, it’s a weak emotion. He will always focus on career and/or Su Muyu.
