Tbh, when I tried to read the novel, MYM doesn't feel that special, because even there, her part isn't that big…
I kinda wished I had read the book. I watched the anime though and with the anime, I agree with everyone saying she surpassed the anime version. They cut the scenes that could have better shown MYM’s depth and yet her Yumo is really flesh and blood. I think she’s reached the point where production no longer affects her performance. Now it’s just a matter of exposure. I’ve always believed in Xiao Ran but she’s really a powerhouse right now. Any producer willing to work with her sincerely and professionally will get their investment back 100-fold.
Cangcang from Love and Crown is supposed to come next week. I’m really intrigued by how she’s going to play such a FL. There’s nothing demure about Cangcang at all.
I will come back with a longer analysis for the rest of the show but Mu Yumo’s monologue after getting injured was everything.😭 Su Muyu once described her as a silly little girl and in that scene, I felt those words until they were oppressive.
May all the lovers in the world get married and thank you , Peng Xiao Ran, for giving the audience the best Mu Yumo. You’ve handed in another perfect answer sheet, goose girl🥹May your career prosper and flourish forever!
Who is saying Mu Yumo is a simp and has no backbone? 🤔 She clearly and straightforwardly confronts Tang Lianyue about his avoiding her and when he can’t give a definitive answer, she cuts romantic ties. That’s not simp behaviour at all.
Also, I don’t know what this editor is trying to achieve with this half-baked unrequited love storyline made from cutting out scenes. There’s no need to add such a melodramatic flavour. Not when this pairing is essentially one of star-crossed lovers- their identities will create all the tension and the audience already knows there will be bumps and bruises once reality hits. It just depends on whether the pair can survive long enough to work things out.
