Yeah, it’s a shame . She has a lot of potential and I think she’s one of the few actresses in C-ent where you can see actual growth in her work but she just doesn’t have the backing and backing is everything. I mean even with this show where she’s 2nd billing, her already limited screen time was cut to the point that it’s affected the character’s portrayal.

Love&Crown is supposed to be landed (non-fantasy) although there is a martial arts aspect. She has a modern drama in stock but it’s not been released yet. I’m not sure when she’ll be able to get a modern drama. A few months ago she said she hadn’t been market tested for modern dramas so didn’t really get any scripts from that genre.

Love & Crown should hopefully be a step in that direction. Pang Hongmei from Huamei is also a step into the mature role arena. She plays a stony faced police officer. It’s got 0 romance but watching her catch spies and trying to guess the identity of the big baddie, Snow Wolf, is really fun.

Rather than FL by screen time or storyline, it’s more Peng Xiao Ran is second billing so she is automatically the FL of the drama over Yang Yutong who is fifth billing.

Her appearance is inline with the book and anime. MYM doesn’t appear as much and the drama respects the source material. I can understand some Peng Xiao Ran fans are upset but Peng Xiao Ran herself said she’s okay with it so true PXR fans will respect her choice. There’s no need to bring ill will to her by putting down her colleagues or the show. If you want to see more of her, Love and Crown should be premiering later this month.

I mean she became poisoned through experimenting with poison so I don’t see why she wouldn’t be able to still make them. All being normal would do would make her less competitive in the field.

Why wouldn’t he care about her? Even if she’s normal now, she’d still be a poison master.

Didn’t you drop it at episode 6? Anyway it’s pretty much nonstop brawling for the first third of the show so if the action isn’t appealing now this show might not be for you.

I doubt it given its promotion in the past. It doesn’t have the same style as BR.

Tang Lian! I kept wondering who he was! I saw his name mentioned because Lin Xinze, the actor who played him as an adult, has filmed two dramas with Xiao Ran and people kept joking in the comments that he had stolen his master’s wife.

The styling of this show is really nice. The heroine’s clothes look quite pretty.

True. And it doesn’t help that new titles are constantly being made up too😂

I think the cast list isn’t in the correct order. I remember having to put Xiao Ran in the right billing but outside of first and second billing, it’s not in the same order as the official announcement. Below is the most recent order I could find:

With MYM currently being sold by the show as a love brain, how is it going to logically connect with her becoming the head of the Mu family?

For this to happen in a believable way, a sense of duty to Dark River or at least Dark River under SCH and SMY needs to be established but it doesn’t feel like the show has done this.

It seems that deleting the secret crush line of Changmo, SCH subsequent actions related to it, and the conversation MYM has with BHH by the fireside has weakened the show’s portrayal of the trio’s bond. It’s true that she didn’t seem to want to be embroiled in SMY and SCH’s fight in the early stages but that’s not to shirk her duties. She just doesn’t want to be stuck between the two men she calls family-which makes sense because while she was working as an informant for SCH, she was clearly conflicted about it. Otherwise she wouldn’t have told SMY.

As for TLY, the show does have her initially engaging Tang Lianyue to delay him but the details about TLY’s strength and that she continues to delay him to buy the rest of the group time isn’t really explained. TLY’s fight with the Patriarch isn’t shown either, which further solidifies his power level. The scene of MYM checking in after she’s healed and reporting to SCH (which means she’s working on Dark River matters) is only in the paid TVOD. The promise scene between TLY and MYM has also been cut so the motivation for looking for TLY might feel too intense or illogical… I’m really worried about the Tang sect chapter now…🙂‍↕️

To get stars, you have to open the Youku app once a day and for every 10 minutes you watch of an episode, you get 10 stars. You can earn up to 30 stars a day.

It’s not incorrect. She is second billing and has been announced as the FL. It’s an objective fact. How audiences feel about her amount of screen time is subjective but that is out of her control and honestly there wouldn’t be a point to her being a guest star. The length of filming doesn’t justify it. She might as well shoot a different drama as a FL if she has to be a guest star.
As for being a main guest star, Hu Ge is a big and established star. Production companies and platforms aren’t going to mess with him even if he is a main guest star. For Xiao Ran that isn’t the case. Her position is not as established nor does she have as much clout in the industry. Judging from the fact that right now fans are complaining about how some of her key scenes have been cut (which also affects her screen time), and this is with her being the FL, I really can’t imagine what tricks might be played if she were a main guest star.
Anyway, hopefully there will be more opportunity to see her in Love and Crown and Boundless Bright Moon.

Shoutout to Youku’s TVOD for the extra tidbit(s) of Mu Yumo. Guess there’s a bougie version of Yumo and a budget version…Imagine I have to pay extra just to see my girl’s complete storyline, plot points, and character design. 😂

Probably multiple in the same color so it’s harder to notice. Mu Yumo has the same phenomenon. It’s a clever idea but Yi Xiaoya should have given the costumes either more variation in cut or materials to make it easier for the audience to see the difference.

I think marketing a long time ago said something about the costume designer giving each character a color theme.
