True, he betrayed Wan Mei in the hotel assignment, and caused her a lot of grief but later he did sacrifice something very big for her..... If you like romance, this is one of the most heartbreaking and beautiful romances ever.... Agree that this is not a binge-able drama, this is best watched slowly with a bottle of wine ;)

Hiii in the source novel Wan Mei did become a badass female assassin, but for this adaptation, due to the dark and sexual aspects in the original story which would not pass censorship, the production team rewrote it into a romantic story where Wan Mei is very morally upright and use her smarts to complete the tasks instead. The drama took place over a period of 3 years and it is hinted that Wan Mei did kill a few of her assigned targets but in the drama we never really see her kill anyone (except the Chief).... You can try watching it like a dark fairytale.... a pure hearted FL trying her best to keep her innocence while surrounded by all the evils and darkness. Or read the novel for the badass FL who killed and slept her way to the top ^^"

Everyone did well actually! Li Yitong portrayed her role well but this is one of the most expressionless acting I ever saw her did.... can't blame her though, it is the script. The actress for Fuyin is quite good too! And the veteran actor for the Emperor, he has the most emo scenes!! I just thought it is a shame that Xu Kai did well at his emo scenes but not many will see that (his good scenes are near the end, last 10 eps).

Hi Sharon, I learned Chinese as a 2nd lang since young but don't really use it. Thanks to lockdown and cdramas, my chinese improved. If you have basic foundation in chinese, the way to improve is through reading and listening (as with any other lang), and speaking but in my case I still don't use it a lot in daily life. Reading weibo posts on cdrama actors, reading discussions in douban on the dramas, watching videos at Bilibili, and gradually upgrade to reading articles on fav actors at Baidu, reading the original novels that dramas were adapted from.... Reading and listening helped a lot.

I am soooooo in love with this drama, only at ep 10 but I'm confident this is going onto my 2021 Top 10 list. And happy that my Chinese has improved to the level where I can watch the actors and listen to dialogues w/o caring for subtitles. I can actually fully understand the business terms, so proud \o/. Lol. And does anyone know where I can get the full version of the opening intro music?? I love that too....

Hi Hi!!! LYT tends to choose very complicated scripts (or maybe it choose her). Personally I love Bloody Romance but this is not a drama that most can appreciate... most viewers drop it midway through (can read my review if u wld like such a drama https://kisskh.at/profile/Becky17/review/141147). Royal Nirvana is her best work, but you need a strong heart to sit through this one... For something more fun and entertaining, you might want to check out Legend of the Condor Heroes (2017 ver). I know this has been adapted many times, but this adaptation is much better than its predecessors, and LYT's Huang Rong stole the show (and your heart...). For Xu Kai, you must watch Once Upon a Time on Ling Jian Mountain!! This is Xu Kai in top form as a clever rascal and the FL Sandrine Pinna is sooo good too ^^

Yes, I'm thinking of this too. The drama was really misleading... Quite a few characters that I thought would be involved in the schemes are not, and Consort Yan's eunuch playing such a key role was unexpected

I didn't watch Witch's Romance but base on sypnosis, there are some differences? The leads here, do not have bad experiences in love prior to meeting ;). And that is something I really like about:- 2 normal people meeting each other, and being attracted and slowly falling in love

Yes!! I'm most sad that Furou is indirectly responsible for Ying Ying's eventual fate... If you think about it, all 3 Fu siblings have reasons to dislike the Lu family from the beginning. Ironically Fu Tao who planned revenge did not really exact any actual course of revenge on the Lus, while Furou who hadn't planned anything hurt them the most (Ying Ying). I'm sad for Prince Zhou-- I have thought he would play a bigger role in the schemes that were going on, but now, it seems he was unaware of the schemes that his mother and Fu Shuai planned. But because of what they did, his ending would be bad....

I'm still watching ^^ to know who is the real baddie behind all the schemes

Court Lady is one of those dramas that was almost great (I really love it in the first half) then the plot developments started to waver between "great" and "not so great", until I'm watching just for the sake of completing the drama. Very sad at how the FL Furou's character collapsed towards the end.... a chinese article wrote that Furou became a double-standard character-- a good person who is always lecturing on integrity, rules and laws, yet when her own sister went against these very same set of principles, she was silent, and ironically used the laws to save the 'bad people'.... I have a bittersweet relation with this drama

Oh ya, I initially really like Court Lady becos she dubbed herself.... using voice actors feel weird when you have heard the actor's real voice. Have you seen Bloody Romance? She used her own voice and sang the ending credits song. The plot... not everyone can accept that, I love it though. How about Legend of the Condor Heroes (2017)? It is quite fast paced.
