If they explained, they would have to use aliens 😅 which would be even worse. Cdramas ban supernatural elements.... Some dramas still manage to circumvent the limitations, such as in Dear Diary. I wonder how they got the ending approved.... But according to Dear Diary production, original ending was not approved and what we got was heavily edited....

I think this ending is done partly to pass censorship, and maybe becos they don't want to go too much into details.... I expected the ending, the only surprise is Nanzi's declaration of love for Xiaobai 😅 that blindsided me.... I can see a side story of how Nanzi and Xiaobai old romance of eons ago started the pawnshop..... lol
Some thoughts I have on the drama, why it isn't as successful as it should be (no spoilers): 1. A lot in China thought this is a copycat of Pawnshop No 8, with that preconceived notion, a group of viewers would not even give the 1st ep a chance. Maybe MGTV could have done some publicity to emphasize this is adapted from a novel and very different from No 8. 2. I was watching this as a secondary drama with other dramas.... The storytelling is engaging and I love the cinematography but it did not make me want to pursue it attentively. It isn't until around ep 20 that it really hook me in!! From eps 20 to 30, the developments and twists are mind blowing!! I binged 20 to 30 within 3, 4 days, when I was watching infrequently earlier. I think it could have shorten the first part to maybe 12 eps or so. 3. The timing of this release...... With so many other dramas that have big names like Yang Zi, Wang Yibo, Zhao Lusi, etc this drama already lost with the cast list. Part of the reason why Shining for One Thing was a hit is the time of release, there was not much competition. Even A Dream of Splendor, if that is released in this summer, it might not have been so successful.
try ep.1 and u can understand. it's like intro and if anything still bother u you can ask here or wait more episodes…
If you can't understand the sypnosis, you would have difficulty with MGTV subtitles 😅 The subtitles are understandable for those with basic understanding in Chinese... they tried to translate every word when sometimes, it would work better if they translated the basic meaning of what was said instead....
